any response that says something along the lines of “the lgbt community is meant to be inclusive and peaceful!!” is immediately irrelevant so don’t try it
As a person who has done advocacy work in the LGBT community since High School, (hosting/planning town and local events, setting up college programs and groups, lobbying with organisations like Planned Parenthood in capital cities like Trenton etc etc) it is always annoying when you see cishet aces trying to come into the community, and it is not about me being a dirty exclusionist or whatever. As someone who works in the community, there is far more help from the straight allies then there will ever from cishet aces, and they respect boundaries because they understand they are not LGBT. There are so many wonderful straight people that I work with that do very impactful and meaningful work for the LGBT community, yet I cannot name a single cishet ace (or ace in general) who even remotely puts in the same effort, and guess what? It isn’t just me! Nobody I work with, from college students to senior citizens, can name a cishet ace person that is so deeply committed to change things for the community they claim to be a part of. Cishet aces are not oppressed the same way LGBT people are, and deep down they know it, and that is why they do not put in any effort, I have seen this time and time again. (If you aren’t cishet you are LGBT, even if you are ace and that is a different story) Straight allies recognize their privilege and use their privilege to change things for the better, they lobby with us, they plan town events with us, they set up spaces for us that they cannot even access most of the time. So @people in the notes; do not say that cishet aces so things for the community when they obviously do not. If you want an ace community, go ahead, if you want to change things for ace people go ahead. But do not claim to be apart of a political alliance you know nothing about.

Like I know Mike and Jay don't give a fuck...... but it sucks so bad to hear people say Mike and Jay just hate everything.
They love film *so* much. They've literally devoted their lives to it. I'll never forget Mike's shock (and hurt) at how blatantly scammy Jack and Jill was.
I don't always see eye to eye with them in their assessments, but I don't need to. The body of work they have speaks for itself. They do care about movies. A whole hell of a lot.
Blaming them for toxic fanboy culture is so blatantly misguided that I don't even know where to start. If you think they are somehow to blame for shittier products that have come after them, then you're probably the kinda person that hates Jaws because now summer blockbusters exist.
