What instruments i think the Sides play
He's the family's number one musician and he knows it
Acts coy if he's asked to perform, while squealing excitedly on the inside
Mostly uses acoustic guitar, it's basic and fits in everywhere from the cozy get-togethers in their kitchen to the huge concert halls his imagination builds
Piano isn't any worse, he loves classical music
Can play violin, and WILL make it look dramatic
His guitar is warm brown with a few stickers
His guitar is black and glossy with dozens of stickers
He might use an electric one to look EVEN edgier
Sometimes he'll play songs by his favorite bands, sometimes he'll improvise, both help to let off steam so he gets very embarrassed if caught in the moment
He's stupidly good at striking bar chords in spite of his sick black nail polish
Although Roman, who prefers plucking, is a little jealous, they play together every now and then, with Virgil handling the chords and Roman handling the separate notes
May play guitar like the previous two, his fingers are long and flexible, although he's broken them once or twice showing off his trickiest chords
Instead of a guitar of his own, he has a flute and a harmonica (which the others don't mind too much because that keeps his mouth from saying shit / eating shit)
His favorite, however, is his drum kit, it satisfies the need for noise and chaos
His pet rats love to nap inside the bass drum, so he checks it carefully before playing
Instead of using headphones while drumming, he just puts earplugs in
Doesn't know how to tune a guitar
His left ear is nearly deaf, which doesn't affect his divine skills and gives him a chance to make fun of the others when Remus is drumming, because at least he's safe from some of it
Piano is his choice (first: his theme music opens with a keyboard layer; second: the extra hands allow him to perform complex melodies without anyone's help, he needs nobody ffs)
When he does join the jamming sessions, he plays maracas because they sound like rattlesnakes
On some days while practicing, Janus hears drums follow the rhythm from Remus' room, which makes him smile against his will
On other days, Virgil would come to sit beside the piano with his stupid emo guitar, attempting to copy the chords, and Janus would play the harder ones on purpose to mess with him... Janus kinda misses that
Likes ukuleles, they're so cheerful and cute, like him "The things we used to share"
He's never sure how to pronounce "ukulele", which drives Logan mad
Roman has taught him a bit of guitar, even dads need to be taught how to do dad things
Has the most fun with folk songs and nursery rhymes
Overall, it's about fun to him, he doesn't take it as professionally as Roman or as emotionally as Virgil, which is a good thing
The only one who's never seen making music
Respects the technical aspect and the work people put into mastering it, which comforts Roman a little
Appreciates being invited to the jamming sessions regardless
He'll just clap along – he has trouble letting loose, but what he does best is keeping the others on track
They've jokingly proclaimed him their metronome as a result
