it was very distinctly how a person would knock. sometimes i'd hear it as early as 8 or 9 pm, mostly at midnight, and a couple times i heard it at 4 am. i also heard it during the tornadoes and storms we were having that week. there are no trees or bushes close enough to the house to do that. once or twice i heard it do the "shave and a haircut, two bits" rhythm which my grandpa always did when he knocked on our front door. this was a year after he passed, and even when he was alive this is something he just would not do.

every time i looked outside there was nothing. even shining a light through the window showed nothing. i was sleeping on an air mattress on the floor so i dont know if whatever was doing it wouldve even seen me. we didnt have a camera back then and we dont now, so i wouldnt be able to capture it.

anyway, i'm back at her house and i've been here a few months but i haven't heard the knocking at all. i have been sleeping in my room so i dont know if that has anything to do with it.

we are in tennessee but not appalachia, we're a good distance from the mountains. this is a rural area too, not a lot of people around. we do have neighbors but everyone mostly keeps to themselves and even if they were trying to mess with us or trying to get us somehow, this just seems like a weird and ineffective way to do it.
