I want to start by telling you what this blog of mine is and, most importantly, what it is not. I'll start how I would if we were face to face.
Hi my name is Alyssa, and I'm 23, almost 24, and I am starting a blog titled The Divine Diva Diaries.
I've never been one to think of myself as someone who would start a blog, I've had YouTube channels where I vloged, but it always felt directionless. It wasn't until recently that I thought of myself as a writer. I didn't go to school for writing, sometimes I can hardly spell words all I have is a vision and my pink key bored to help me write. It wasn't until I was scrolling on social media, like any good person, that I came across a video on how to start a blog, and that got me thinking about before people started shitposting, the internet was anyone's game. chatrooms and websites you can build to write anything and of course MySpace and the customization and personal nature of it all. Oddly enough, within this train of thoughts I had thought about the show Brooklyn 99 where the character Charles has a food blog that he regularly updated with food reviews, and how sometimes that very food blog drives the episode plot along. " I need to update my blog" I've heard this phrase before, but never bothered to truly think of what it might mean. Someone sitting down at a computer and typing to update a page or dedicated space to what is often a specific theme or topic. It sounds fun, and I'd like to try it.
Like I mentioned, I have never thought of myself as someone who can call myself a writer, sure I always got As on my English papers in high school and college, but what makes a writer? Is it the degrees in English and literature that sit above a desk? Is it reading all summer and always hitting those reading goals? I have found a simple answer to bring anyone shy about writing out of their shell, the same way I did mine. To be a writer, you must be an artist who writes. If words hold power and declaration, then with this first published post, I am a writer, and welcome to my blog.
For starting this blog, the biggest thing i want to highlight is the way the world is noticed through my eyes. My hope is for my words to settle in and connect with other girls who feel lonely in their hometown. The eldest daughters who feel like they could never escape the responsibility put on them at an early age. The ones who notice everything yet say nothing because if someone knew you noticed that they wore the same t-shirt three weeks ago you'd be weird for saying it out loud. The ones who feel sun on their skin and know that they are just a small spec on a little planet called Earth in this vast universe we live in. The curious, the lonely, and those who still feel magic and whimsy in their hearts. If that's you, we are very alike and I think we'll get along, allow this one diva to share her thoughts with you.
And now for what my blog isn't. my blog is not for those who don't think reading is important, those who have truly disconnected from their childhood emotions, those who are sour to life's sweetness, those who think the only way is their way no no. if you don't feel whimsy and magic in your heart or think the wind blowing through your hair isnt the earth saying hello then keep on.
This new page of mine is for those who seek something more than just themselves. Those who seek culture and flavor in life without all the elitist bull. Those who feel so deeply and too sensitive to live in a world that has hardly ever made any sense. Well, if I found you, you are now a starlet, and together we shall shine.
