Related to my Ravenclaw!Regulus AU (name in progress):
How do you picture the Ravenclaw Tower? In the make of my first drafts one of the many parts I struggle with is the description of Hogwarts and the Ravenclaw common room, given that most of the early scenes are there. Of course that everyone has at least a vague idea of it but I've searched and, as per usual, no one gives a shit about us. So no better option than ask fellow Ravenclaws.
Now, the traits I do like is the colour scheme and architecture that permits a large tower. But, of course, nothing is just good in a deep dive and I find that all of Hogwarts canon depiction is severely monochromatic and BORING. It's like you're doomed of seven years of two colour jail for being of a certain house, and it's not I judge it in stances like uniforms or event shit. But having hundreds of 11-17 year olds live in a common space strictly under a colour scheme is way too hard to believe.
I have this one headcanon where all four houses have a different arrangement according to dormitories. Like, in the golden trio era we know that the Gryffindor dormitories have a capacity of 5 students. But also the marauders are four and I honestly don't see them sharing a room with a rando for seven years, even though the thought is hilarious. And so I pictured that, for better accessibility, the Gryffindor dorms are for groups of 4/5 people depending the number of Gryffindor they have that year.
One of the few things I have clear about the tower is the dorms cause I'm sorry (I'm not), but they'll be of 2 people. In short it is because Reg will only be sharing with Barty, where I would yes put Evan with them but he's still a Slytherin in this and by plot devices, a year above them. So that rule goes for every Ravenclaw. In a little more words is because I really want to focus on their friendship and having other 3 people in there generates noise to me at the time of writing, and because there's little no more Ravenclaw boys in their year and I will not make any relevant OC for this, so...
That's it. Now, I don't think there's any Hufflepuff character really active in the fic, more than the few extras and mentions that would appear in Ravenclaw-Hufflepuff shared classes yk. But I still picture their dorms much more alive so yeah, 4/5 people in there would make sense I guess. And Sirius is a really important character in the fic, Dorcas and Evan too dw, but I have this idea of Slytherins having several a single person dorm or something, that or having him not mention anyone else because he simply does not give a shit which, valid.
So, if you have anything you'll add or definitely have in your common room, even if you're not a Ravenclaw. Like, I see the Gryffindor having a pool table in the common room one hundred percent, by example.
