Sometimes self care is backing out of a situation you don’t feel safe in. And sometimes self care makes you feel awful. But the important thing is that self care is an action that is good for you and will help you in the long run, even if it isn’t really what you want in the moment.

not everyone deserves your friendship. not everyone will mirror your kindness nor your understanding and whether or not you are willing to accept that is your decision ALWAYS. you do not need to keep being friends just because you’ve known someone X amount of time - you do not owe anyone a place in your life.
