What is Aplatonic?

Aplatonic is an identity on the anattractional spectrum (aspec) that describes a lack of platonic attraction. The aplatonic spectrum is known as aplspec and apl- is pronounced like "apple."

Platonic refers to a tertiary form of attraction where one desires to form friendships (platonic relationships.) A platonic crush is known as a squish and a friend is the person who is in a platonic relationship.

Some folks may feel fluctuating platonic attraction while others may feel very diminished levels of platonic attraction. Some may be entirely repulsed by platonic relationships while others may simply not wish to pursue platonic relationships. All types of identities you see in the aspec community - gray, fray, litho, demi, cupio, aego, apothi, orchid, neuro - are experiences you may see in the aplatonic community. Like all other orientations, this is a flexible and varied label, and people will use it in a variety of ways.

This is not a term exclusive to the aro/ace community. Many folks may be aplatonic but feel attraction in other aspects.

chainaplatonic is being aplatonic and desiring a chain relationship, or currently being in a chain relationship. mainly supposed to represent aplatonic, aromantic asexual aplatonics, but can be used by anyone aplatonic.

“ what is a chain relationship ? ” ⨾ a chain relationship is an aplatonic relationship that revolves more around companionship, attachment, and emotional bonds rather than platonic/romantic/sexual relationships, one in a chain relationship may feel attached to their companion as if they were "chained". chain relationships can also be spiteful or have a mutual "hate" that can relate to the equivalent of love for one another.

chained companions can also be called one anothers bechained.

VoidRipped 【🩶】 A term under the —Ripped gender system (LINK) that feels like it has been ripped from Void. It may feel like one took the concept of gender & ripped it from Void, whether it be metaphorically or literally.

This "Void" in question has to do with the Void from Hollow Knight (LINK). The creator of this term encourages people to make their own void terms disconnected from such.

A term for attraction in between romantic and queerplatonic. It is not "greater than" or "less than", as those imply it is "more or less valuable", but simply in between the two. This attraction can feel like anything, as long as you feel like it isn't quite romantic nor queerplatonic, but still similar to the two. I coined this for a mutual feeling between me and my partner :) No terminology yet, but you can make some if you'd like! I also made a relationship flag for it. The suffix would be -romaic, so if you experience romaic attraction in a bi way, you'd be biromaic!
