one of the first colors remus talks about in regards to a memory of sirius is the light above his kitchen sink when they broke it and it's yellow. we get a handful of mentions of the color of lights, but specifically yellow is only mentioned a few other times, one of them being in chapter 18 when remus looks over as they're standing on the beach and looking at the sunset.

other colors are mentioned quite a bit: red is the color of the seats in the truck but also the first honeymoon suite. the sky outside when they stop to get milkshakes in chapter 14 is red and blue, and they end up in a purple honeymoon suite that time.

in chapter 18 as well, remus mentions he always saw sirius as a blue person, which is funny but then you also take red (first honeymoon suite) and add sirius (blue) and you once again get purple (where it all came together)

i dont know, color somehow became a big things in black mass, there's probably a million more little bits about it, i was fairly meticulous when mentioning the color of any lighting, places, etc.

it's never mentioned again, but the reson remus fucking hates that eddie money song and the reason sirius hates that bee gee's song is because it reminds them of the other person.

originally, the end of james and lily's time with them was supposed to be after the fleetwood mac show, but we did a whole redo of the outline and they ended up staying much longer which i really did end up loving. it makes frank and alice's time seem a lot shorter, but they come back around in the end as well.

the last quote remus says on the beach in chapter 18 is from the princess bride. i believe there's more than a handful of princess bride little easter eggs stuck in the fic, and only one person pointed one out which was sick.

also, the last chapter he tosses out an ‘as you wish’ which is very much remus. westley? remus? same amount of devotion there.

there is also a sweet home alabama reference in there, because that was one of my favorite movies growing up. when remus proposes in the bathroom, sirius asks why he would want to marry him and he says so he can kiss him whenever he wants. not verbatim, but it was a call back.

the last scene of the entire fic is literally the scene that inspired it all, and i cursed myself for having to write almost 220k before i got to write it. i refused to write it before i naturally got to it, and it was actually fucking awful and i wept like a small baby.

in chapter two where remus plays the guitar for sirius, i was really on the fence and that scene almost didnt make it, but my dad used to play over the hills and far away for me when i was younger, and i ended up keeping it becasue i could hear it.

and i think a few weeks after that chapter was posted he played it again which he does not do often and it was neat. becasue i'll never get to see black mass, but i heard what i had written in a way and it was kind of homage to my dad, who raised me on all the muisc that's in the fic.

originally, they were supposed to get tattoos in vegas and sirius was going to get one that said 'bride' and remus was going to get one that said 'groom.'

THEN i thought about remus getting a tattoo equally as appalling as sirius’s ‘moony’ tattoo but felt the black star was somehow that? not big and flashy, just enough.

also, originally the title drop scene was supposed to have black sabbath playing in the background to tie it all together, but it felt too on the nose. if i could change one thing about the fic, i wish they could have done the nasty to some black sabbath.

sirius actaully did not have friends in new york. he put up a front, and yeah he knew people and slept on their couch, but he had not a single person in highschool or after. he was pretty much in the same boat as remus. alone and miserable.

what sirius says in chapter 18 about how he was only fine because he ended up with remus is very literal. it's borderline unhealthy the codependecy but i'm very much a person that does not care as long as the two people in the relationship are happy and not hurting the other.

they are clearly over the moon (no pun intended ((yes it is)))

had not sirius not ended up with remus back in his life, he would not have been able to manage. it put a purpose to it all, so he's fine. it seems simple, but i feel like that's how he rationalzies it.

no, remus will never not try to fight someone. sirius thinks it's hot, he's got a big mouth and knows how to use it. knows remus is there to back him up. maybe sometimes he gets mouthy on purpose, but also doesnt want remus to get hurt. but then he also love to make remus feel better, so. win-win?

i know there’s a lot of ‘don’t get mouthy’ ‘i’m not gonna’ that goes on when they go out and he likes to skate that line all night.

sirius never goes and gets a haircut again, remus does it. never does his own eyeliner again, remus does it, and every time sirius paints his nails, he does remus' as well.

little head canons i suppose i'll spout off the top of my head:

remus talks about sirius being a bad driver, which he is, but remus is just as bad. sirius is one to run over a curb and say 'oops' but remus talks with his hands and hardly ever keeps his hands on the wheel. drives with his knee, smokes a cigarette. like he could have his hands on the wheel but doesnt. is it dangerous? yes but it just makes sirius want to fuck him more. love is strange.

sirius likes to sleep with it really fucking cold and yes puts his cold fucking feet on Remus' legs every night. is the type where remus is like go the fuck to sleep and sirius is like alright okay alright but then asks if he still loves him. every night. remus loves it.

sirius knows he could have gotten the fucking knot out of those docs but never even tried.

yes, sirius had that righteous brothers tape in the truck from the very beginning. stuck it in there and hid it because he was a man with a plan...which very easily got away from him but he got his moment to whip that song out in the end.

remus cries more than sirius. or, well. i feel like remus cries just cause and sirius pokes fun of him but then sirius cries and if remus pokes fun of him he gets mad. so remus doesnt.

yes, they argue. like, a lot but also not and remus is very much the type to say stop acting stupid and sirius rolls his eyes and it's fine.

they never get rid of the truck. remus gets a car but only drives it when he has to. they fight over who drives because the other just likes to see the other in the truck. reminds them of the trip.

they also never get different wedding rings. every once in a while they switch them. i always imagined sirius' is something fucking gaudy as hell. that man has a skull ring with diamond eyes as a wedding band but remus' is a signet ring, silver ofc.

remus kept that peach pit and it sits on their window sill in their apartment.

sirius eats chips in bed and remus hates the crumbs

also one of them often goes to sleep before the other, or stays up later, and will miss whoever is not up. i feel like it’s not uncommon for remus to be up watching tv, walk into their bedroom, and drag sirius into the living room. doesn’t even have to wake up, just to fall back asleep on the couch with him.

sirius sits and talks to lily on the phone all the time. twirls the little chord and gossips and conspires.

they have a little coffee tin on the table they put all their bottle caps in.

remus buys sirius flowers like every week. buys him tiny things all the time and sirius cries every time.
