Rawhide: Incident of the Silent Web - a scene...
...from the January 9, 1960 first rough draft of the teleplay by Winston Miller, which didn't make it into the final episode. Adapted into a (fan)comic by me using Clip Studio Paint. Many thanks to @600movies-to-go, to whom this comic is dedicated, for the text of this scene and much more!
Close-up on my favorite (and final) panel:
BONUS: Clean inks!
(If you want to color them just remember to extend Rowdy's sideburns a little on the top right panel of page 4.)
The inks feel darker than the colored pages because the colored version has a layer of white on hard light mode at 18% opacity over the flat colors and inks so as to wash them out a little, and a layer of perlin noise on overlay mode at 100% opacity over everything (including the color gradient overlays) in order to get an older printed-on-newsprint texture.
Thank you again, everybody, for your kind comments (and for noticing the artistic choices!). And, really, I ought to thank Winston Miller for writing such an evocative slice-of-life vignette - this could have been canon...
