Different pieces, same person
Just recently I realised something that might be considered as "basic knowledge" (and it embarrasses me!): That Atsushi's ability, the tiger, might simbolise his trauma and his suffering.
At the start of the manga, we've seen his ability often being triggered without his control. It was often caused by his insecurities and self-loathing appearing. Atsushi is the kind to sit with his emotions, so he lets his frustrations, his ability, take over as he was drowning in his own trauma, causing chaos without him remembering anything
But throughout the story, he is trying. Atsushi tries to not feel sorry for himself, he tries to let himself exist without needing to have a reason, he tries to let himself be helped and loved by the others around him, even when he feels that he doesn't deserve it
And that's why he may have realised that, instead of trying to fight the tiger, to run away from it or to give up and let himself be swallowed by the darkness, he has to sit with it and accept it as a part of himself
We cant get rid of things that hurt us, but we can learn to accept them and continue our lives alongside them while we continue to improve ourselves.
Instead of being self destructive when we suffer, we should learn to be gentle with ourselves.
