Can we talk about how Layne loves making Geoff sing insanely low/difficult stuff?
For example:
Songs credited to Voiceplay: Valhalla Calling, Oogie Boogie's Song, the Halo Theme
What do all of these videos have in common other than they're performed by the same Acapella group?
That's right: Layne Stein arranged them.
Now, that's not to say that Geoff never writes/arranges difficult songs for the group and for himself on his own YouTube channel (for instance, The Dragonborn Comes), but he tends to be more humble about his own abilities. Sure, he shows off and loves to push himself to hit lower notes, but he knows the limit of his vocal abilities and likes to write parts specifically made for the other members of the group.
Layne, on the other hand, takes his turn at arranging for the month, and goes:
Layne: Geoff, how low can you sing?
Geoff: *gives him a reasonable answer*
Layne: okay yeah, sounds good.
*time passes between the conversation and the song being arranged and ready to record*
Geoff: *listens to his part for the song* Layne what is this. I told you I can sing a C1. But here you have me singing an A flat -3!
Layne: I don't see the problem >:)
How hot is that character: Geoff's Oogie Boogie

Fuck... The video is just under three and a half minutes, but that's enough to make me MELT. Besides the very impressive vocal range, his sense of humor is PERFECT.
This man needs to explain his vocal range to the rest of the class (I say as if he hasnβt done that already on several occasions in various videos). Explain yourself, Geoffrey. Explain yourself again. Iβm obsessed.Β

i love that Geoff, especially in the more charactery vids, just seems like an entity
like
btw, i feel like he blinks strangely in Valhalla Calling? idk
many examples of this in My Mother Told Me
and i never noticed this, but it looks like geoff has some sort of wound on his chest, it's redder than the rest of him
also layne i love you but you look like a raccon
For those of you not on TikTok (neither am I but I found out from the Patreon Discord server), Geoff created a Carol Of The Bells singing challenge, to see if anybody could sing four lines in four octaves, and he demonstrates!
"Hark how the bells" - 4th octave "Sweet silver bells" - 3rd octave "All seem to say" - 2nd octave "Throw cares away" - 1st octave (in chest!)
Y'know, normal person behaviour. /lh
