I've been saying that no one has said to Spoke that he isn't all bad and that he's not an unredeemable monster and that's why this is happening now.
How many times did people villainize him since s1? Just because he used exploits in the 1st episode (that were shown to him by Jamato btw. He wasn't even completely at fault.). That was Spoke's unforgivable crime then.
Then when he tried to remove all the exploits from the server he was framed for destroying farms by ASH. SPOKE destroyed the Mafia (people don't give him enough credit for that even though he did most of the work). Anyway, it doesn't even matter. It's not like it helped people's opinion of him.
End of s1 Spoke was abandoned by his best friend (Jamato) AND continuously compared to the MAIN VILLAIN (Ash)
Beginning of S2 Spoke got character development that developed him into a worse version of himself. He lied. He manipulated. All that Jazz. But it wasn't that bad before BAT.
BAT was a turning point. The lies grew to the point Leo hunted him down across the server until his death. But the thing is that Spoke is also more self aware than people think. He knew the lies were wrong. He knew what he was doing was wrong. He knew the server hated him. He already thought he was beyond redemption. (Parrot didn't let him become worse by blowing up Capital City, he stopped him, he was the only one that thought Spoke was better, the only one that forgave him after the Mafia). Jamato told Spoke he was protecting the server from him. He told him that he never changes.
Even then he helped Parrot become king. (Parrot, after all, was the one that dragged him from the edge. He understood what Spoke was going through. Spoke said that the server needs Parrot. I think he meant it.). Maybe his reasons for taking down LAW and BAT were selfish but he still helped. That... Also didn't change the servers opinion of him.
End of s2 Spoke thought that he was already past redemption. Ash said it at the beginning that he's like him. Leo was hunting him and Jamato told him that he can't ever change. (The only person that saw him as someone trustworthy was Parrot)*
*(Other than Mapicc who was kidnapped twice because he was friends with him, and Jumper who worked with him to kill Leo and then to try and find Mapicc)
S3 Spoke was still trying to prove everyone wrong about him. One last try. Save Mapicc and save all the missing players along with him.
Jumper gets taken when he tries to kill Jamato. He gets framed as the leader of NULL. Mapicc tries to kill him in the maze. He gets taken to purgatory.
He tries to escape with some people. They get killed in front of him. He finds a friend that believes that Spoke can get them all out. The only person that believes in him and sees him as good. Jamato kills that friend too. Spoke stages a revolution. It doesn't work. He tries to do it again in the arena. It doesn't work. Jamato sends him away. He doesn't leave. He still wants to try and save more people and to fight Jamato.
Then _________ comes and tells him that the NULL want him as their next leader.
They take down Jamato (with some bad things happening: Jumper leaving with most of the players they gathered and Spoke dropping Mapicc in the void)
Spoke has now officially lost everyone and everything (by his own fault or otherwise). Now he truly thinks he's in too far. He can't stop now. He has a responsibility to the NULL. To be a good leader. To not let them down.
He's done trying to be the good guy. It's not like people will see him as good no matter what he does. If they want him to be like Ash, like Jamato, then that's what he'll be.
He takes the End from Minute by force. He takes most of the Overworld by force. But he looses solders. He thinks he failed them. Jumper did it. She betrayed him again.
She says it's not too late for him. She tells him that she worked with him because she thought he had a good heart.
He doesn't think so. Maybe if she came to tell him that he's not beyond redemption earlier he might've believed her. He might've stopped before he got to this point.
Now it's too late. He's what they said he was from the beginning.
oh my god bro. yes.
dude. it’s been drilled into spoke’s head over and over that he’s evil, hes a bad person, he cant change.
really, what does jamato expect?
