I always get verbally attacked for saying that I would abort my child if I found out that I'm pregnant. I don't just say abortion because I'm young and still have my whole future in front of me, I say that because I don't want to raise my child in such a place, a place that gives us no choice. A place full of crime, inhumanity and racism. I don't want to give birth just see my child dying of starvation or coming home in a coffin. I don't want to expose my baby to such a world, a world that still needs so much help. I don't want my child to become an echo of other peoples voices or of the past and be exposed to people who still believe that women should still be voiceless. I always hear about how developed some countries are but how is there development when people still starve to death, children and women get molested and racism keeps attacking? How is it that a country is developed yet there are still thousands of people who are killed each day and some live on bridges? How is there development when inhumanity still exists and LGBTQI+ are killed for being themselves? This world is intoxicated with violence and people who are not open minded. It needs help in all possible ways and until this place becomes better, until people decide to live better together and gender based violence ends, and all parents start treating their children right, I will always stick to my decision. I grew up being taught to eat like a lady, dress like a lady, sit like a lady, walk like a lady and stay away from boys but there is one thing no one taught - perseverance. No one told me that being a lady needed me to persevere. No one taught me how to wipe my own tears and always shut the world out. I was not told that being a lady came with a package - I didn't know that it came with being abused and silenced. I was not told that my heart would be scarred multiple times or that I would one day leave my home, my family and possessions, and never come back. No one told me that my family would one day receive a mysterious phone call from the authorities, saying they found my corpse burned, stabbed or hanged. People always expected something from me but no one ever told me what to expect from the world. I have always wondered, do men get taught the same way? Do they get taught how to be a man and to always keep their pants up? Do they get taught that females deserve to be respected and loved? Are they ever told that despite what a woman has done, she does not deserve to be abused. Are they taught not to raise their hand on their girlfriend or wife? I know that not all men are perpetrators but how do we differentiate between the good men and those that no longer have morals? It would be lovely to live in a world that accepts people's sexuality for who they are. A world that does not judge or discriminate others but in a messed up world like this one, telling people about your sexuality tends to feel like hanging yourself especially if acceptance is what one wants. Being LGBTQI+ in a world that judges before knowing your story can feel like being in a catastrophic dream. It is like dying for being yourself. As the nation there is still so much knowledge that needs to be passed on regarding the LGBTQI+ community. There is a lot of work that needs to be done by everyone with regards to educating each other that being LGBTQI+ is not a choice that one makes when they wake up in the morning. The world still needs to understand that "coming out of the closet" should not be to be accepted by anyone. It should rather be to be supported and known for who you are. Respect them, not only during their month of love. Treat them with the same kindness that you treat everyone with. Understand who they are, not where they come from because the choices that they made weren't based on their circumstances. Being LGBTQI+ is being 100% LGBTQI+. It is very difficult to be a female in this country or any other country for that matter. It's like walking down a tunnel not knowing what to expect. It's more scary than learning how to swim in an ocean full of sharks or taking your first step as a baby. Being a female in a world intoxicated with crime is like sacrificing your own life by walking down the streets because wherever you go there are men undressing you with their eyes or that family member who acts kind towards you but has an agenda. As females, it's torturing to walk out of the house knowing that there are perpetrators out there, perpetrators who take on defenseless women. Some females can no longer where skin revealing outfits without being fearful but what you wear should not attract men. It is not an invitation to say "please rape me". When are we going to be able to walk around freely? When will we be able to embrace what we have without being judged or assaulted? When will changes be implicated because even young babies are getting molested. Being a rapist is beyond penetrating and victimizing another soul. It is more than leaving an emotional scar that the victim will carry to their grave. Being a rapist is not just commiting the most revolting crime and injuring a person emotionally, physically and psychologically. A person's body is an art gallery of the most beautiful artworks. It is filled with scars of strength and continuation. A person's body is evidence to show that they never gave up even when they wanted to. Your body is yours to judge and feel beautiful about. Do not fear wearing that mini skirt because you are petite. Don't fear wearing that crop top because you have belly fat. Don't fear walking out of the house wearing what you like. If the way you are dressed makes you feel proud of yourself and boosts your confidence then flaunt your body. Do not hide your body because people won't like what they will see. You don't owe any one big bums or big breasts. You don't owe any one a flat stomach or an hour glass body because your body is for you to be proud of. If transforming it is what you want then do it for you and not for the world. Don't do it because your family says so. Don't do it so that your crush can notice you.
