I like the idea of them bonding over both having a past in different criminal organizations and seeking redemption and a new life away from it.

I really like how they turned out here, especially the first one with the matching rock outfits and music theme. I definitely want to have these two interact more at some point. 😁

Introduced in MK2, the princess of edenia needs zero introduction. Easily the most iconic female face (alongside Mileena) of the franchise (i know Sonya stans will argue this but lets be 100% real here, show a headshot of Kitana and a headshot of Sonya to a rando person, and more people will be able to point out Kitana no shadeeee!!!) ANYWAYS!!! This was actually a tricky one for me, Kitana is such an iconic character that i - one didnt want to do a look that i always loved but fans didnt really recognize as a staple look (such as her basic in mkx), or a look thats iconic that i felt didnt capture her character well (such as mk9) or a look that i felt was perfect but may have been too niche (such as mk shaolin monks), so it left me with very few options. Unlike all the other femme ninjas who are on the list (or was in tanya’s case), i have their pin look picked out immediately. Mk9 for Jade, MK Deception for Mileena and Tanya, and lastly the MK9 Alt for Skarlet, Kitana was the only one who didnt have one picked out. So as a result, with the help of a friend on discord (ty gucci) they helped me settle on the classic mk3 look, with some details carried in from her mk shaolin monks (her arm guards and hairstyle) and the vaguely mk9 inspired fans!!

Overall i’m very proud of this one, i had alot of fun drawing her, and even if its not the most intricate or iconic look of her’s it’s definitely one of my faves!!!

Soooo i’ve been falling behind again (oopsie) mainly due to a mix of working on artfight stuff and abit of burnout on the series. But we’re officially back to regular schedule starting today!!!

For today’s character, i got the enigmatic fighter; Chameleon! Nor to be confused with his female counterpart Khameleon who actually has a storyline, Chameleon is actually a pretty unknown force. All that we ever really know about him is that he alligns with the forces of darkness during Armageddon! We dont even know his species, though its widely assumed that he’s a zaterran like his female counterpart and Reptile. Though i want to clarify that that’s never been confirmed.

I’m pretty impartial to him, though i absolutely adore his mka look alot, i wish i could’ve achieved the see through skin, but because of these being pins i chose to just make his skin a greenish grey to make at at least look like it blends in abit with his outfit colors!

Been a while, but I wanted to share my newly touched-up HeroForge designs for three of my MK girls. I went down a bit of a rabbit hole when I found out I could use a color wheel on the eyes…not sure if that’s a new thing or if I was just slow to finding it out. 😅

Kabal

Okay! Staying with the klassics for this week so far, with Kabal following suit and, like yesterday’s character Smoke, debuting as playable in MK3! Kabal’s an interesting character to me. In all honesty, prior to mk9, his story always confused me abit. I had a really hard time following, especially around Armageddon where he just suddenly swapped allegiences again? It was odd and so as a result i’m mainly gonna focus on his NRS era storyline;

In the portion of the story in MK9 where it takes place during the og MK3 events, Kabal was reintroduced to us as a police officer working alongside Curtis Stryker. Kabal isnt given alot of screentime before a fight with the best and most underrated shokan in this franchise, Kintaro, leaves him horrifically burned.

And good fucking god this one was a BITCH to do 😭😭😭

His cybernetics werent even the worst of it, i just think overall Kabal’s design was way too complicated for me and in the end, while i think it’s very recognizable as to who it is, i’m not sure if i really like how his pin turned out.

Compared to Zebron who had a family and friends, Gazira was orphaned and abandoned in Eukaryona. It didn’t help when her teacher Wade didn’t help her when she needed extra support. She chose to live alone knowing that everyone would deny her after Wade embarrassed her.

To make matters worse she was constantly neglected seeing others such as Zebron with friends. Zebron himself wanted to help her but she didn’t want his help, she didn’t need his pity.

Unfortunately when the peaceful Eukaryonites fled the kingdom, no one looked for her and she was abandoned in the wilderness.

Shortly after Lunara betrayed her friends and allied with King Cerveras, Lunara would find her. Seeing the young gazelle abandoned and mistreated reminded her of herself. Lunara would extend her hand and Cerveras was willing to take her in if she proved her loyalty.

Gazira was eager to undergo training and be accepted. She would then become part of Cerveras’ most loyal allies. Her bitterness toward Zebron was how he had everything Gazira wanted, stable friendships, a family, and was well liked. She was jealous that he had his wand to impress many in the kingdom while she had nothing. She desperately wanted the love and admiration Zebron had because she was alone.

However while on a supply run with some of the other loyalists in Eukaryona, she had found an ancient staff, the fabled Exo-lemental Staff, the dark counterpart to the Endo-Arcane Wand. The staff uses the external energies using the elements of nature surrounding the user.

Once she masters her staff, she hopes to battle Zebron to earn the approval of her monarchs, belong to her new family, and claim everything from Zebron.

Connections:

-Both are daughters (one biological, the other adoptive) of one of the main villains of their respective universes, the ruthless conquerors Thragg and Shao Kahn (who are a well enough known potential matchup for Death Battle themselves).

-Both were raised to be loyal to their fathers' Empires, but go through a character arc in which they chose to rebel, in part influenced by the compassion of their foes, in part because they couldn't tolerate their fathers' cruelty anymore.

-Their worlds of origin (Thraxa and Edenia) were peaceful worlds which were taken over by their fathers. They also never got to see their worlds, although that depends on the version in Kitana's case (in some versions she was a baby when Edenia was taken over, in others she was a little child or even an adult).
