i will not ship wandlocked!marabel with any of his current masters. to put it very, very shortly, the powers at play there and the magical elements make it so that neither party can consent to a relationship: marabel’s powers make it so that anyone with the tiniest bit of ambition won’t want to let go of him, and marabel is entirely dependent on whoever owns the staff to keep him... well, conscious essentially, giving the wielder an immense amount of leverage over him.

this is not a dynamic i’m interested in writing, especially in a public space, especially if i have the tiniest doubt over if i the partner and i see eye-to-eye on the tone of it all. this is something that can very, very easily hop on the side of glorification, and the power dynamic is already unhealthy enough without the added romantic or sexual nonconsent, and i much rather will not take the chance on the matter as the damage it could do outweighs any pros by an immeasurable margin.

now for the ugly part, which you might see coming from the tone of the previous one: i had an instance recently where i felt i wasn’t being listened to in this matter, where i got spoken over, and it became very clear that the person i was talking with didn’t have a grasp on why i was objecting to the plot. it’s not a secret that the disney fandom has an ugly underbelly of romanticising horrid things on blogs covered in pastels and cute things but i had hoped the fandom would have become more aware of the damage of these issues since i last dipped my toe here. while all that hope has not been lost, there’s still people in this fandom too comfortable with not only writing certain topics on a platform where anyone, regardless of follower or not, can see them, but also with trying to pressure these topics on to unwilling participants under the guise of ignorance and ‘wanting to learn’.

so i took some off the dash, went on a small blocking spree---the individual referenced here seems to have either deactivated or changed urls and blocked me because i’m not finding them---and will make some decisions based on the future of this blog in the near future. i might write replies, i might delete and make mar a discord-only muse, i might never write him again, i might continue watching critical role and ignore these blogs until the descendants 3 hype wave has passed and the fandom grows smaller again.

Her emotions are a fog. His words cut through them though, as they had before. She had only intended to destroy the Queen’s crown before - a petty revenge, but nothing like what had come to follow. The scepter had called to her, breaking through the haze of her anger and loneliness, offering what she so desperately had wanted: revenge. Hades Junior? A taunt towards Mal, who wasn’t here to defend herself, who had saved Audrey in the end. Though it can be pointed out that the scepter was only in Auradon because Mal had planned to use Fairy Godmother’s wand to open the barrier so her mother could escape for vengeance. While Maleficent might have turned into a lizard, her staff had remained behind, and that had escalated the storm already brewing inside the young Princess. 

No; those were the thoughts that had led her to the scepter in the first place. “You manipulated me. Mal didn’t do anything but break your hold over me.” The words are shaky, unsure, confused. The more time her hand holds the scepter, eyes fixed on the projection before her, the more she doubts herself, or her own intentions for coming here. She’s still highly susceptible to his magic, her own thoughts say, but her own insecurities and fears are far more dangerous to play. “What makes you think I have a question for you?”

            “  and here i’m trying to be sardonic... fine.  ”     the first part is a lazy drawl, coupled with the roll of his head---the last word comes out sharp, almost offensive. eyes with a piercing green snap to hers, his posture solidifying: this is clearly not a sit-down chat---she came here looking for something, and he can give it to her---but she needs to get it out first.     “  is that all she did?  ”     it’s tempting to give up trying to build rapport, but there’s still one detail he feels he should correct on her version of the story:     “  you came here in pain, wanting more, and regretting being nice all your life.  ”

christian was a warlock when he died, a human who possessed magical powers through the means of deals with beings powerful enough to give them, and actually a very skilled one considering he only had less than a decade of experience before his death  ( “death” ). the person responsible for killing him was another magic-user, a witch, whom christian had managed to piss off by being an asshole with years of experience with dark magic. she decided the best punishment for him would be to technically not kill him, just grow a tree out of and using his body, with his soul in the middle in case anyone wanted to get it out. she left him like that intending to mostly just scare him, and fully presumed someone would come find him and undo it before the process would be complete.

now, this mostly because christian was thirteen when he died. ---and if you’re currently doing the numbers on his age minus experience and are getting concerning numbers and are perhaps wondering who the hell lets a preschooler do that kind of magic at all let alone ones coming from pacts, well, that’s a whole another pile of nope i won’t distract you with right now but bottom line is yes, he had parents, no, they weren’t exactly great, moving on.

there are a few things from which you can tell christian was young when he died; the strange, juvenile view he has on morality  ( the idea that feelings of guilt and shame are your conscience is a separate force from your personality, ‘manipulating’ your decision-making and preventing you from being who you truly are, as opposed to understand a person’s moral compass and the emotional conflicts that come with it being a part of your personality )  is a very good example of this, as are his lack of a deeper understanding of responsibilities and failure to commit to any sort of rules---even if it was solely about a personal code of ethics.

ben didn’t think he’d be the person there, either, but here he stood. there was something that drew him in, it wasn’t the power, no, he had that. it was something else entirely. his eyes were glued to the green glow, unable to tear it away. “yeah, me neither,” ben said honestly, fingers twitching. how he wanted the scepter! he could be the most powerful being with that, no more of his father’s disappointment in what ben was unable to accomplish. with the scepter, he could do anything. “i—i can’t…” he said, though he didn’t believe himself.

        the people who sought for magical artefacts usually did so for similar reasons. for wanting power, wanting control; sometimes over the world, more often over something making them feel hopeless and not enough on their own to make a difference. that wasn’t anything out of the ordinary---what was out of the ordinary is that usually, those people weren’t the most powerful man in auradon.     “  but you want to.  ”     it’s not an affirmation, and barely a statement---he doesn’t know what caused the king himself to show up here; he does know that this would be an odd choice as anything but the last resort.
