Peter's hands shook. "Don't think'', he muttered.
It was another day. Just another day. Not any more important.
It was just the anniversary of his death. You know, the same one for half of the world- except apparently everyone in Gotham.
Damn it, he shouldn't be like this. He sighed, dropping on his bed. He felt out of place. Maybe he should call Mr. Stark...? No, he must be busy with Morgan.
He'd be okay. Probably.

The wind was one of Jade's favorite things.
She loved it as much as she loved high places, loved swinging through it and feeling it throw her hair around and then back in her face. She loved watching it carry leaves somewhere far away and trying to run as fast as it blew.
The wind felt wrong today. She didn't know why, it just felt like- Like she was standing in a graveyard and was supposed to be holding her breath. It felt like it should be stiller. She didn't know why.
"Peter?"
She made her footsteps loud as she approached on purpose- It hadn't taken long for her to learn the look of someone that you didn't want to startle. She lightly poked his shoulder with a frown, brushing some hair out of his face with her other hand.
"Wha's...?"
Peter almost flinched. Everything hurt Mr. Stark I don't wanna go- He blinked, realizing it was Jade.
"Oh- Hey J!" He smiled weakly. "Sorry. I.. zoned out for a bit." He tried to control his hands, to stop them from shaking. Jade didn't need to worry.
Jade paused for about three seconds to process the fact that Peter had actually just said such utter bullcrap to her face.
"Ya, uh-huh. Totally."
She scowled a little.
"P, wha's goin' on? Y're shakin'-"
She moved to wrap her arms around his shoulders, giving him some time to pull away if he wanted.
Peter froze. He was there. He wasn't flaking away. Everything was okay. Jade was there.
"Nothin- y-you don't need to worry. Just...something happened today, like, a year ago, and I just haven't gotten over it. I'll be okay in a bit." He smiled weakly, knowing that in no way he was going to be okay.
"Just...feels weird. Sorry. I'll calm down."
Jade sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder. He was still a little taller than her, even if not by much, which meant he was still the perfect hight to be a headrest during hugs.
"We've all got bad days P, quit sayin' sorry. Wanna talk about what happened or throw it in the screw it bucket an' do somethin' else?"
Peter thought for a bit. "I...can show you."
Peter tapped the side of his watch, activating Karen. "Karen... pull up the footage of the Infinity War. Only- only near the end." He kept it paused, hesitating. Staring at the hologram. He probably shouldn't bother Jade with this.
Jade's eyes slid over to the hologram and narrowed in confusion and focus. Her heart rate picked up a little.
"P...? What'm I about t'see?"
Her stomach was twisting nervously. Peter had seen a LOT of crap.
"...Something I probably should have told you before."
Peter appeared on screen, swinging from Thor's hammer, fighting on Titan with Thanos in the background. They were winning.
Then came the snap. Thousands of both heroes and aliens turning into dust. Peter stumbled towards Iron Man, who caught him as the mask retreated to show a terrified Tony Stark. "Mr. Stark? I don't...feel so good." Peter started dusting away like the others, but slower. His body knit back together too fast to make it painless, but too slow to save him. Peter whispered an "I'm sorry." Before scattering into the wind, and leaving Tony grasping at nothing where the kid- HIS kid had been.
"Karen, stop." Peter didn't meet Jade's eyes.
Jade was dead silent and dead still, pale as a sheet of paper.
"Oh. Frick."
She mumbled finally. She turned her head to bury her face in his shoulder, heart at least three times faster than it probably should be. This was like watching the videos of Jay again. How many times would she have to watch her siblings die?
Peter put his arm around Jade, and rested his head over hers. Both to remind her he was still there, and to remind himself he wasn't alone.
"Yeah. Frick." He mumbled. "Didn't wanna worry y' guys. Sorry."
Peter hadn't stopped shaking, but it had definitely lessened. "S-so! You probably wanted to tell me something before...this. What's up?" He tried to change the subject.
"Was lookin' for y'."
She didn't take her face out of his shoulder, so the words came out muffled.
"Things felt weird today. Dunno."
"They're definitely weird." Peter smiled. It wasn't the usual warm grin, but a small, genuine one. He wondered what would have happened if he never came to Gotham. Would everyone be better off? What would have happened if he hadn't accepted Dr. Strange's offer? Would New York still hunt Spider-Man if Mysterio's tricks weren't revealed?
He shook his head. That didn't matter right now.
He was safe here. With J.
"Wanna paint something?" He liked painting when he was stressed or felt bad.
"Ya."
She finally raised her head and looked at him, midnight eyes just a fraction wider than usual.
"Okay. Don't wanna leave you though."
"You can stay as long as you want."
Peter offered her a web shooter. "Wanna try to get the canvases from there?" It was an easy target, and Jade had asked about the web shooters before. He wasn't good explaining, he was better at showing.
And it served as a good distraction. So win-win.
She frowned, squinting at them a little before poking one lightly.
"Ya. Sure."
"Alright! So, you point like this- no, this way, very good! Then you flick your wrist and- there we go!" Peter guided Jade through it, effectively webbing the canvas and pulling it towards them. He did the same with the one on his wrist, and did the same with the paints and brushes, as to not move Jade so much.

Thyme knocks on the window of the living room. Yup, living room. She has boundaries, not just going to knock on a bedroom window.
"Peter Parker, you live here, right?" She asked
Peter jumped. "Uh- Thyme?" What was Thyme doing all the way at Wayne Manor. He got up quickly, wincing at his injuries.
"Hey! How are you doing?" He chirped. He usually sounded so upbeat, but he couldn't seem to grasp the tone today.
"sup man" she wiggled through the window and fell on the ground. "Ouch."
She stood up and brushed herself off. "Hey man. Nah, I just come in here sometimes. Don't worry about it. You look mopey, what's going on?"
"Nothing, really. Just- something that happened last year. Yknow that like, half the world died for 5 years?"
Peter was too tired to lie. He tried to add the joking lilt to his voice, but it fell flat.
She had a blank sort of look. "Wait, what? Who did that? I feel so bad, I must not have been paying attention...who died for you, then?"
She cleared her throat, "or maybe, they came back. What happened? How does everybody die and then come back, and more importantly, how come I didn't ever notice?"
She sat down on the carpeted floor, criss-cross. "Anyway, I brought you a bag of M&Ms" she holds up a bag full of red and blue candies. "They're good for emotional trauma and stab wounds"
"I did." Peter then realized most people didn't just. Die. "I came back though? Like i said, it was like a 5 year nap....thanks for the M&M's." Peter counted in his head ,thinking he might get to 14 before Thyme either ran away or never talked to him again.
“No problem, bro” she sat down and dumped the bag on the carpet and started meticulously sorting them by color.
“That's weird. I mean, what's the science behind that? Did you clog the afterlife for five years and they spat you out? Am I being too nosy? I'm sorry, I'm not actually used to having friends…” She laughed sort of awkwardly and waggled her fingers, Depressed Jazz Hands style.
“I mean I did crawl through the window of a manor that neither of us actually live at.”She turned sharply towards Peter. “He didn't adopt you yet, did he?” (She talked a lot.)
"aw frick, I'm talking about myself again. Tell me about what happened five years ago. How's that affecting you now?"
"Nah, Mr. Da- Mr. Stark changed time, and we killed a titan, he almost died but we saved the world. And yes, Mr. Wayne has in fact adopted me. Weird custody thing." Peter replied. "Neither am I, don't worry."
Peter froze. "Ah. It'd be better we talked about you, haha."

Probably.

He probably shouldn't bother Jade with this.

yo @jesuswarriordaughter here the dummy
Kkjzjffjjebf rbjwjdkfb bahahaaaa I need a t shirt like that-
All the web details on his suit are just making me go W H O A
TY IT TOOK SO LONG-
It's supposed to be the Iron Spider, but adjusted to Gotham. It has darker colors to be able to blend in.
AND YES THAT SHIRT
I'm prolly gonna make it DIY
I BET SO IT LOOKS AWESOME
Ooohhhhhhhh that's so cool. I'm picturing him like this from now on. I love the idea that Gotham is just like that, and every hero has to learn to work with the shadows.
... Would you mind if I made one too :D it's probably not gonna be great but the effort will be there
It does in fact
Yeyey EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS
YES OFCCC
(Btw idk if u can see it but the fingerless gloves were given to him by Jade because "your sense of style took a walk and never came back" -Jade)
Oh that's funny- XD hilarious coming from her, who gives exactly zero craps about her clothes so long as they're comfy and mobil.
Yeah, but it's mostly to banter with Peter. He takes it really seriously tho-
(Also, Jade will never say, but part of the reason she gave the gloves was cause Pete's hands kept getting hirt from latching onto worn wood or bricks)
[Don't ask how he can still stick through fabric, the MCU never explained and idk anymore than them]
I didn't expect to melt from sweetness before breakfast today but okay awww that's pretty sweet
Nyehehe
