The constraints. You probably could make an infinite sandbox if you wanted using generative tools like rollable tables, but specificity will likely serve you better, such as by making the sandbox a single island (if considering it more literally), or by focusing on a specific type of story you want to tell (a metaphorical sandbox). Additionally, you'll want to note what other constraints are relevant. What's the genre? What's the sub-genre? Is it designed for Troupe play? etc.

The setting. What do the open spaces look and feel like? What kind of terrain is on the island, or what kind of tropes do you want players to encounter? This can also include less literal terrain of a setting: the people, cultures, history, etc. What defines the world players will be exploring?

Points of interest. This is the good stuff, the stuff that drives the action. Who are the important characters and what are their means, motives, and methods? Where's the abandoned temple and what is its history? What recent event has rocked the status quo and how do the players get involved?

Character options. The stuff that will be most relevant to the players. These should be dependent on the constraints and the setting. Not just who they are and what they do, but also what are the actions available to them? What kind of characters can they make? What can those characters do? How can they affect the world? Can they change that authority figure's mind or are they too stuck in their ways? Is there a trail through the lava flows or are they a total blockade?

I made a few new "Galaxy Uranus" dice. They are part of the solar system series. I made a set of dice according to every planet. How do you like this one?

There has been many reported robberies in the countryside, a group of bandits has been stealing all sorts of goods from wagons, travelers and everyone who is unfortunate enough to go through those dangerous roads outside the city.

And through a series of events that shall not be discussed here, the traveling party of heroes has learned of the location where the bandits have made their hideout.

Inside a cave, abandoned for years, there's a building with rotten floorboards and a foul stench of mold. Nobody remembers its original purpose, but now it serves as a place where the aforementioned bandits store their stolen goods, come to rest and otherwise have a good time amongst themselves.

🧪 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Vortex Elixir
Potion, rare ___

This potion is effervescent and constantly swirls on its own. When you use an action to drink this potion, a tempest of wind stirs around you. For the next 10 minutes, ranged weapon attack rolls against you are made with disadvantage, and you can use a bonus action on each of your turns to cause the wind to strengthen. When you do, the wind whips into an instantaneous vortex that extends out from you in a 10-foot radius. Any other creature within the vortex when it appears must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be thrown up to 20 feet away from you and knocked prone. If a thrown target strikes an object, such as a wall or floor, the target takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet it was thrown. If the target is thrown at another creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take the same damage and be knocked prone.

Immediately after using this bonus action, you can fly up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. If you are underwater, the vortex is water, instead of wind, but its effects remain the same. ___

Walks through the forest are always full of possibilities and adventure. In their never-ending quest to be the best of the best, the party of adventurers comes across a set of streams.

Stopping to take a sip of the clear, blue waters, the party lowers their defenses for just a fraction of a moment. The rustling of leaves surprises them and they're ready to spring into action.

But nothing comes out. They wait and then they wait some more, readying their weapons and looking around the wilderness for another sign of an ambush. They feel the cool wind on their cheeks, and a deadly silence makes itself present. Still nothing.

Paranoia starts to settle in the minds of our heroes, and they desperately try to find something, anything that might prove them right in their fears.

Is someone or something really stalking our heroes? Or is an evil curse starting to take hold of their minds? A curse that might've been cast a long time ago. Are they starting to see things that aren't really there?

The expedition has now come further than ever before, and in this newfound land they've come across a fantastical set of caves that are full of minerals with potent, magical properties.

While the expedition would like nothing more than to start mining away, there are still dangerous creatures made of the same crystals that lazily grow on the cavern walls.

The party of adventurers, eager to get their hands on some of this fabulous new materials, ventures forth deep into the cave, ready to protect the expedition from anything that would do them harm.
