Insomnia, anger towards that sly canine namesake (Torger Christian Wolff, he doesn't like being called his full name), and someone's post mentioning Horner eying Russell before the sack - his exact quote: "Look, we're not afraid to go out of the pool. George Russell is out of contract at the end of next year. It would be foolish not to take that into consideration. There are other drivers, talented drivers, that will be out of contract as well." - led me down a rabbit hole.

Fyi, Mercedes and Wolff turns out are Russell's managers due to managerial rights from the junior program. So they don't simply employ him as a driver, they also represent him. Yes, he also has a separate manager Harry Solden, but that's for commercial matters from my understanding.

There is this grim The Times article title behind paywall. I don't know the content of it due to such so take it with as a grain of salt, but geez, isn't the situation in itself a conflict of interest? Like, let's hypothesise Russell were indeed approached by another team, how are Wolff and Mercedes handling it? Is that why they were so comfortable stringing him by for so long during negotiations last year?

Someone recently asked me "if Russell knew Mercedes was doing him a disservice, why not speak up" to counter the favouritism discourse. I said something along the line of "a dog better not bite the hand that feeds him" because I don't think it would strategically be the best decision to sour relations with your employer under contract (see Pérez, who came hard on RB only after leaving the team). This information kinda strengthens that opinion.

The next thing section is more speculative on my end, but my perception is that up until last Sunday Russell has always been far too gracious in shielding Mercedes while the team has repeatedly fucked him over the season. Spa was the first time I heard him tell them off that harshly. And look at what Torger Christian's reaction was! "Racing for Mercedes is a privilege", what does it have anything to do with the discourse other than potentially implying Russell shouldn't express his justified frustrations openly? Like under other circumstances I could get past the gist of it, but here tf it means? How does "un-fucking-believable guys" warrants this?

All of it is so crazy to me. I'm so sick of it. Now my mind is conjuring Torger Christian as a toxic ex who doesn't want to give George stability, but also doesn't want to let him go elsewhere (especially Horny boy, who luckily for Torger Christian took himself out). Fanfiction levels bs.

In seriousness, George Russell is a great driver and asset, if anything this sham of a season further proved it to me. I viewed the onboards and debriefs, and I follow Mercedes's communication with the perspective of a business/marketing graduate. Not a single weekend without car or garage issues for him, a mediatic narration that strongly tilts towards enhancing Antonelli at his expense (not saying Antonelli isn't talented, but largely overrated for now imo because he ain't seriously racing anyone on track, be fr) and he's still fighting.

My champion regardless of the trophy. I would love to see him in a team that gives him a fair chance at WDC and doesn't use him as a scapegoat for hysterical F1 "fans" whose brains flatline around race weekends. Shame that the management debacle seemingly makes it immensely more complicated.

P.S. Torger Christian also said a Verstappen-Russell lineup would have been Senna-Prost. Russtappen crumbs? Too bad Maxie boy is in the naughty corner every other week lately.

P.S.S. It's not explicitly stated but it appears Torger Christian ain't Antonelli's manager the way he is Russell's. Or they didn't disclose it for some reason. Couldn't find any info.

Anyway I briefly told her today was a disaster (I didn’t go into details about it) and how George declared to be “numb to disappointment”, then I asked what is happening and what should we expect now that the window of 6 weeks since the 1st reading is coming to an end and those were her words:

Do with this reading what you want bestie, I focused a lot on the “luck” part bc I thought George could feel something like that after Silverstone and I fear he may start thinking what happened today was deserved. Hope the fuck NOT. Also that whole discourse about his “silent scream” and “being blamed for his competence”, oh my god– I need things to change RIGHT NOW so let’s hope that whole “definitive shift in his communication. The numbness will crack, but it will be replaced by a cold, sharp-edged clarity” comes true in the next 7 days 🙏🏼

That being said, as I told you at the beginning, the medium did a reading for me which still includes George but I don’t feel like sharing it fully, so I’ll just say she told me I am actually doing so much for George (😅), but she also said I am “absorbing his pain” as if I’m being his “lightning rod” which means that by doing this I’m keeping “the fight alive in the field”, while I should be a lighthouse bc “a lighthouse does not jump into the sea to save the boat; it stays on the solid rock and shines the light so the boat knows where the shore is.”

She also added I should “drop the shield and hold the crown” for George and to be honest I thought I was already doing it, like always trying to be very positive and careful with every manifestation, so this part of the message caught me a bit off of guard but obv there must be sth behind it I’m not seeing and I’m gonna think about it these next few days.
