george russell onstage at the fan zone on practice day, belgium - july 17, 2026 📷 mark sutton / getty
ok so before the FPs start, let’s all remember that George likes to experiment a lot during practice and usually doesn’t push for the fastest lap. He uses the sessions to understand what setup works best, where he should brake, and how the car behaves. So I won’t be getting ragebaited by the FP results.

saddest (best??) thing about england getting knocked out of the world cup is seeing george make this face 🤏🤏🤏. i’m getting abnormal amounts of cuteness aggression towards a grown-ass man.
(tell me i’m not insane)
Please please let George have a calm attitude, the clearest mind, the fastest car and the strongest pace this weekend, please PLEASE let the team be supportive and competent, and everything go smooth from the FPs to the qualis and most importantly to the race, so that George wins it and keeps the trophy! 🙏🏼🩵
george: "as difficult as it is to see negativity, we should never lower our own standards to combat that."
🗣️: "it feels like the public can be quite harsh on you sometimes and it feels like there is a double standard. for example, when you speak up about wanting better, head up facilities for your drivers, people are labeled as complaining. and you're a professional deliverer to the media, being called pr. and many fans find that very unfair and frustrating. and they feel, like, anyone who truly follows your journey knows you as a very honest, dedicated and just simply maintain a very high professionalism. so, do you ever feel a bit like painful to see all your genuine intentions be twisted like that?"
george: "i think, unfortunately, that's the world we live in. and everybody has their right to their own opinion. and often a lot of these people who make these comments, they don't know me, they're not my fans, they don't know my journey or my values. so, i think it's also important not to take that to heart as well. because i see so much love as well, which i really appreciate. and the things that aren't so positive, it doesn't affect me. so, as i said, unfortunately that is the world we live in at the moment, where everybody has something negative to say. but i stand by my values, i stand by my people, my fans and that's what means the most to me."
🗣️: "do you have words to your fans who feel unfair?"
george: "yeah, well, i mean to all of my fans, especially in china who continuously support me, i really really appreciate it. and also i think it's important for them to spread good energy and positive messages. and as difficult as it is to see negativity, we should never lower our own standards to combat that. we can let these these people be negative and be hurtful, but we're better than that."

fred talking about george:
🗣️: "you mentioned a few times that how george russell helped you and gave you a lot of guidance throughout your career and he sees a bit of himself in you. so, what do you think are the similarities between you two and what is george really like?"
fred: "george has been helping me throughout my career and particularly in formula 2. when i joined the mercedes program, i was sort of lucky enough to be put in contact with george as he was in his formula 1 career, beginning of his career as well in formula 1. and he was definitely watching my races, supporting me, calling me after the weekends, 'you can do this, you can do that,' helping me to improve. we have done a very similar journey with similar teams as well in formula 3, formula 2 and obviously been working with mercedes. so we have a very similar path and i think it makes it quite easy for him to support me. but on a personal side, i have a lot of respect for george. he's a hard worker and he's just incredibly talented in the car. so, very impressive."

It won't be long before we see them together again ❤️ (Jan, you will finally can stop longing for him in interviews or not)
👯♂️
from today's interviews i do feel like george is a little bit more confident than he was after silverstone??
idk if i'm a bit too hopefull tho, or did anyone else notice it as well?
george's belgian grand prix media day interview:
🗣️: "25 points in it, two races until the summer break. where's your mind at arriving here at spa and any answers to some of the questions you had after silverstone?"
george: "yeah, i mean, it's great the gap has closed up, but it's not really a focus at all. the focus is trying to get the best result, best performance possible. still, every race learning so much on how to find more performance, to be honest. it's still a challenge getting on top of these new power units, the cars, the tyres. but i feel in a good place. spa's a place i enjoy the drive, got some good memories over the years. so yeah, bring it on."
🗣️: "i mean, in a way, one headache's gone, which is the bad luck, haemorrhaging you a lot of points, so it's kind of a fair sporting contest now. but i mean, you're saying the car isn't quite natural to you. can you give people an idea? is it like a left back playing as a right back or something like that?"
george: "well, i've not done that, so. may be a good comparison. but yeah, i think every car has- like, you naturally evolve your driving style to suit what is needed. and when i raced in formula 4, formula 3, formula 2, f1 at williams and then the previous gen, my style sort of suited what was needed from all of those cars.
and this year, we've just seen a lot of trends that my style isn't quite suiting what the power unit needs, what the tyres need and we're just needing to adapt the setup to something that i've not really ran before. and it's kind of forcing me to drive a bit more consciously, rather than subconsciously, which is also a bit of a negative. so i'm hoping i'm like in a bit of a learning pit before i can then take advantage of those learnings.
i guess it's like a golfer changing his swing. you know, he's probably going to take a small step backwards first and then you relearn that new swing and then it's better. it kind of feels a little bit where i'm at the moment."
🗣️: "can you do it though, in time for the title fight?"
george: "yeah, for sure! for sure. just close the gap and, you know, bring it on."
“Yeah for sure, for sure! Just close the gap and bring it on” 🙏🏼🩵
when i say lando and george hate is forced know i mean it's largely rooted in misogyny and homophobia
