Principles and Laws of Science Fantasy Fiction (w/ Worksheets and Templates)
Foundational Laws
Law of Coexistence – Magic and technology exist in the same world, but never by accident. Something in that world's history explains why both survived.
Law of the Dominant System – One system (magic or tech) must be rigorously defined and predictable. The other can stay mysterious, but not both.
Law of Convergent Origins – Magic and technology often trace back to a shared root — a forgotten science, a misunderstood force, a common ancestor discipline.
Interaction and Conflict
4. Law of Systemic Rivalry – Magic and technology compete for cultural, political, or spiritual authority. Coexistence does not mean peace
5. Law of Magitech Interference – Enchantments can short-circuit machinery; machinery can disrupt spellwork. Proximity between the two systems has consequences.
6. Law of Escalating Hybridity – Once magic and technology touch, someone always tries to fuse them further. This never stays contained for long.
Resonance and Conditions
7. Law of Ley-Line Circuitry – Magical power and technological power can share the same physical infrastructure (currents, grids, veins in the land)
8. Law of Concealment – Whichever system is rarer must be hidden from whichever system is dominant, or it will be studied, weaponized, or outlawed.
9. Law of Power Asymmetry – Access to magic or technology is never evenly distributed; whoever controls the interface between the two controls the world.
Balance and Consequences
10. Law of the Uncanny Trade-off – Fusing magic and technology grants power beyond either system alone, but always at a cost neither system alone would demand.
11. Law of Systemic Limitation – No hybrid system solves every problem. If magitech can do anything, the story has no stakes.
12. Law of Backlash – A technological failure caused by magic looks like an accident. A magical failure caused by technology looks like a curse. Both are punished differently.
Special Conditions
13. Law of the Conduit Class – Certain people, bloodlines, or machines exist specifically to bridge magic and technology — and they are rare, valuable, and hunted
14. Law of Cyclical Convergence – The boundary between magic and technology weakens on a cycle (an alignment, an anniversary, a season) and strengthens the rest of the time.
15. Law of Dual Sensitivity – Some beings can sense both magical and technological disturbances — and are the first to notice when the two systems start blurring.
Ethical and Structural Laws
16. Law of Contested Ethics – What one culture calls sacred, another calls primitive; what one calls innovation, another calls heresy. Magitech is never ethically neutral.
17. Law of Informed Fusion – Merging a person with magic-infused technology (or vice versa) without consent is the genre's most reliable source of body horror and rebellion plots.
18. Law of Binding Contracts – Whether sealed by oath or by code, agreements between magical and technological powers are treated as equally unbreakable — and equally dangerous to violate.
Advanced and Rare Laws
19. Law of Systemic Drift – Left alone long enough, magic starts behaving like technology (systematized, replicable) and technology starts behaving like magic (unexplainable, revered). This is usually the story's slow-burn reveal.
20. Law of the Singular Anomaly – Every science fantasy world eventually produces one being, artifact, or event that neither system can explain — and that thing is always the plot.

malleus is the type of person who could spend hours talking about the stars without ever getting bored, so what starts as a simple evening walk somehow turns into the two of you lying in the grass together while he points out constellations overhead. the night is quiet, the air cool, and for once there are no duties, no meetings, and no responsibilities demanding his attention. it's just you and him beneath a sky full of stars. malleus seems perfectly content simply being there, occasionally telling you stories about old legends connected to the constellations or listening when you point out shapes that definitely aren't official star patterns. at some point, you notice he's gone quiet. when you glance over, he's already looking at you. not in a dramatic way. not even intentionally, really. he simply got distracted. the sight of you gazing up at the stars somehow became more interesting than the stars themselves. the realization makes him look away almost immediately, a faint flush dusting his cheeks. fortunately, the darkness hides it. unfortunately, it does absolutely nothing to stop his heart from acting strangely. when you eventually lean against his shoulder to get comfortable, malleus freezes for a moment before carefully relaxing, as though afraid he'll scare the moment away if he moves too quickly. the rest of the evening passes in comfortable silence, and although he continues talking about the stars, his attention never strays very far from you. later, long after you've gone home, malleus finds himself looking up at the night sky again. the stars are exactly the same as they were before. yet somehow the evening feels brighter simply because you were there to share it with him.
And what if you both grow old together, though his is slower than your aging. And as you grow older he watches over you, taking care of you as your body begins to become frail. Your hands once smooth are now wrinkled, your face filled with lines and cresces. Your hair once it's lovely shade, now grey or silver. While he is still youthful and beautiful. Like a young man in his prime, yet his eyes are old like yours. Yet despite your aged appearance you're still the most beautiful person in his eyes. Age has treated you kindly, even when you can't do things like you used to, he remains with you. He takes care of you, kissing your head lovingly. His hand in yours. His embrace strong and comforting, your rock in every way. He loves you, through sickness and through health and he's there with you at the very end.
Time waits for no one. Your last day together is spent in your favorite place. Where the flowers bloom, and the sun kisses your cheeks. You smell the dewy air of an early morning. The sounds of birds accompanying you. You rest against him, your old eyes looking out at the horizon. You knew it was time, and you had a feeling he knew too. He always did, when it came to you. He holds you, looking at you one last time as the sun begins to rise. You look back, a soft, serene smile on your face.
"Promise me.....that when I'm gone you won't forget me. That you'll live your life and have a place in your heart....."
He swallows, his embrace a bit tighter as he holds you closer. Inhaling your scent and kissing the crown of your head.
"You have my word my beloved. You are unforgettable, and you will always have a place in my heart. Just as I promised you every day since we've met."
Your heart gives a weak throb, your smile radiant as you rest your head on his shoulder. Telling him one last time that you love him, and you'll be waiting for him. He whispers his affections back, his throat tight and heart heavy. He holds you when you pass on, time finally running out. And as he watches the sun rise and touch your peaceful face, he weeps. Mourning you, his life partner in every single way. He spends the long rest of his life, living it. Never forgetting you, and never falling in love with anyone else. Because for him, there was only one you. Eventually he too finally reaches his end, leaving his castle, which held your children and grandchildren and so on inside. He weakly makes his way to your favorite place. Wanting to see one last sunrise on that hill. Surrounded by the birds and flowers and memories of you. It is there seated on that hill that he passes, just as the sun greets his eyes. One last beautiful glimpse before saying goodbye. As he fades away he suddenly hears it. A familiar echo in the light at the end of the tunnel. A voice that made him ache.
You.
You were calling for him.
You had waited for him, just as you promised. He doesn't hesitate to run to you, his arms open as he embraces you. Smothering you in kisses and tears. The two of you could finally have peace once more, forevermore.

Pudding’s first day home. 🧡
Error in translation
It is common knowledge that NRC has a fairly extensive translation system, and anyone from different parts of the world is capable of communicating in a neutral tongue without needing to know another language. But sometimes… that translation magic has its hiccups, its little holes in a system as rigorous as an academy full of potentially powerful mages.
If that translation system happens to fail, nothing like a dictionary from the library to solve that communication problem.
Now, when the translation of a language from another world gets corrupted… well, that’s when things start getting complicated. See notes at the end for translations
Riddle - Welsh
What is more annoying? Having to study the history of a world you don’t know from scratch just to pass an exam and avoid remedial homework, or having someone dictating dates at you every single second, stopping you from thinking?
Well, for your bad luck, Riddle is doing the second one.
Every second was a different date, God only knows about what. It was like listening to a record keep spinning, completely unaware that its listener had already turned off their brain and understood absolutely nothing it was transmitting.
You don’t hold it against him, not at all… but having him vomit dates and information you still don’t understand at you so you can learn properly, and not just memorize things, is a little… heavy.
You didn’t slam the book shut… but it was a pretty strong close.
“Aishhh, all fy mhen ddim cymryd mwy, stopiwch siarad os gwelwch yn dda”
Silence in the room.
Uh… and you also went silent. Your comment had been way too direct and harsh.
You’re scared to turn your head and see if Riddle is the same color as his hair, or maybe even stronger, some naturally impossible shade of red.
But nope. Riddle is standing there with his mouth open, because he simply heard foreign words, soft and lilting.
Sounds that his brain, packed full of rules and information, cannot process. The translation magic flickered like a candle flame and disappeared with the smoke, making it impossible for him to understand you at all.
“…what did you just say?”
You have been saved from an immense scolding, but don’t rest on your laurels. It may not happen again.
“I said I need a break”
Judging by the way you avoided looking him in the eye and scratched your cheek, Riddle couldn’t fully believe you. But… he had no way to prove it.
After that, Riddle becomes completely obsessed with your mother tongue, to the point of going not only to NRC’s library, but also to the public library in Foothill Town, trying to find any language that resembles yours.
It is a lost cause.
Over time, even a little shyly, he starts asking you to speak more in your language, purposely removing the translation magic.
The privacy, you teaching him part of your world, sharing your culture and country with him, becomes a new form of intimacy for Riddle.
“Mae’r lleuad yn hardd heno, on’d yw hi? Fel ti”
Riddle may not understand a single word, but all it takes is looking into your eyes and leaning into the sound of your voice for his cheeks to turn pink, just like the roses in the maze.
Listening to you speak for hours without stopping becomes the best moment of his day. Learning your mother tongue is much better than any class he has taken in his life.
Leona - Spanish (spain)
Leona may think understanding animal language is a complete waste of time. He may even simply rely on translation magic and never study a new language at all.
…unless it is convenient for him, or he needs to have certain political knowledge.
Even so, Leona doesn’t pay much attention to the different languages of the world.
But yours… oh, that is a separate topic.
“Joder tío! Qué manga de energúmenos que son algunos aquí. Es para darles un coñazo a ver si por fin espabilan!”
Leona’s eyes shot open, his ears twitching in every possible direction, his body tensing involuntarily as he sat up from where he had been taking a nap under his tree in the botanical garden.
What the fuck was that?
“Are you trying to talk, or are you insulting me?”
“Bueno, estaba desahogando mi frustración, pero no iba dirigida a ti. Un poco engreído, ¿no crees?”
“Whatever you’re doing, better stop”
You stared at him, unable to decide whether to smack him on the head with the book or directly in the face.
“Oh, shit… was I speaking Spanish?”
Well… that shit is new.
He won’t say it openly, but the way you pronounce the r makes his ears flatten slightly against his head, as if he were hearing a lullaby from when he was a cub.
For his nap times, he now requires your presence, demanding that you speak to him in that new and strange language, the one with those seductive tones.
He falls asleep in seconds, a record time.
But that only happens 10% of the time, when he is truly tired or had a bad day.
The other 90%, he is more interested in listening to you talk than actually falling asleep. The sound of your voice in your mother tongue is like a summer breeze across the open savanna.
Sometimes, when you aren’t present, Leona tries to replicate your pronunciation, but the r’s are too complicated, and what comes out of his mouth is more of a growl mixed with a cough than an actual letter.
But he doesn’t give up, and he keeps trying.
His reason? Provoking you into an argument so that, when the translation magic fails again, you let out a “deja de joder ya, macho! Qué insoportable!”
The bastard smiled for more than ten minutes, pleased that he had finally gotten to hear you insult him.
After weeks, he learns two simple words: ven aquí. And he uses them with a very annoying arrogance, always curling a finger toward you, forcing you to sit down and let him use your thighs as a pillow.
He never thought that a gap in knowledge about a language from another world would become his greatest weakness.
Azul - Italian
Azul has always been known for knowing every detail about his clients and possible victims, whether for work reasons or for future negotiations with new souls seeking his kindness.
For that reason… didn’t you think it would be wise to warn him that your mother tongue is not one he knows?
Imagine his face when he hears you speak in a language completely strange and foreign to his bank of information.
“Posso avere un caffè? No… meglio un frullato, fa troppo caldo ultimamente. Con molto ghiaccio, per favore”
Azul dropped the pen he was using to write his next contract.
Not even Jade, who was taking your order, knew what you were saying.
“Eh? Shrimpy was talking funny,” Floyd said, exchanging a glance with his twin, sensing something juicy in the air.
Do not let the twins exploit this information. You are going to end up in a bad position.
“Could you repeat that, Prefect?” Azul approached the bar where you were sitting, his eyes completely focused on yours.
“…a smoothie, please?”
Ah, what a shame. He wanted to hear you speak in that strange language again.
A language unknown not only to the surface, but also to the deep sea, belonging only to you.
You are full of surprises, aren’t you?
Would you be willing to teach him a few phrases? For reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with future contracts, or taking advantage of clients he wants to scam help.
Obviously, it is to have the advantage.
As I said, information is Azul’s currency, and you are sitting on a vault full of coins that he is desperate to open.
You also have to get something out of it, maybe a percentage of his new earnings, or access to the VIP room from time to time, to clear your head, or being present during those negotiations.
The first words, “thank you,” “you’re welcome,” “good morning,” are a great starting point for Azul, something to make his day-to-day life easier, more humble.
Although… his pronunciation is terrible: the r escapes him, the cadence is too stiff, and the z is a tongue-twister.
He writes down everything you teach him in a private notebook, extremely private, locked away in his own room. Each day, the notebook becomes thicker and thicker, almost to the point of bursting.
Sometimes you catch him counting in Italian while doing inventory at the Mostro. “Uno, due, tre…”
Every time he wants a private conversation, or wants to complain about some client, he no longer needs to take you to a separate room. Simply speaking in your mother tongue is enough to drive everyone around you insane.
Obviously, he is going to use this new language every time he wants to show off in front of his poor clients seeking help with their contracts, with you as his partner in crime.
Kalim - German
The translation magic could not have chosen a better moment to have a small malfunction than in the middle of a ride on his flying carpet.
Many feet up in the air… hold on tight, because I have a feeling Kalim is going to get startled just a little bit.
Looking at the sunset falling over the dunes of Scarabia, the slight movement of the carpet beneath you…
“Sieh mal, Kalim, der Himmel brennt. Es ist wunderschön!”
Kalim stops looking forward and turns to look at you, with his mouth open, shamelessly… without realizing that you are both going into a nosedive.
“Woah! What was that?”
“Kalim—!”
Okay, okay, no problem, Kalim is lifting the carpet now, stop screaming.
After that greaaat scare, Kalim keeps the carpet straight and fixes his gaze back on you, only on you, again, not caring at all about what is on the horizon.
“Are you speaking in code? Is it some kind of riddle?!”
“Oh… sorry… I think you heard me speaking German”
“Ge… Ger… man?”
Oh God, it is like being at the entrance ceremony all over again.
Thank the heavens, thank the Seven, that this translation magic exists, otherwise navigating this world would have been fifty thousand times more complicated.
The first thing Kalim wants you to teach him is the word “friend” — “Freund”
Between froind, froynd, and a thousand more variations, his pronunciation is atrocious. You don’t blame him; German is hard to learn, even in your own world.
He wants you to teach him new words every day. You write them in the margins of his notes, in his notebooks; one time he asked you to write on a napkin in the middle of one of his huge banquets because he wanted to learn how to say “to celebrate”
Jamil scolds him when he sees him so focused on this new language instead of the three subjects he is starting to struggle with.
But Kalim isn’t learning just any new language, he is learning your language, and that inspires him even more.
He has even written words on the palms of his hands and pointed at each food with its corresponding word.
The most chaotic moment of his learning comes during a huge party in his dorm, after many songs, endless dances, and way too much food. He takes your hands and announces at the top of his lungs, “Ich liebe dich!”
His comment echoes through the whole lounge, and even though all his residents stare at him, not understanding what mystical words their housewarden has just pronounced… your cheeks are completely red.
“Kalim… do you know what that means?”
“Of course, you taught me! ‘You’re my favorite person.’”
That is not what it means!!
Vil - Russian
Let’s keep in mind that during a skincare routine, people usually don’t talk. They simply let themselves be carried by the vibe and the relaxing feeling of being cared for and attended to.
Until a damp sponge started tickling your cheek.
“Вил, это щекотно”
Your little laugh was the only sound in the middle of the Pomefiore common room; not even the sponge made another sound when Vil froze against your skin.
Vil raised one beautifully shaped eyebrow, but… said nothing. Maybe your laughter had made your tongue trip.
But when he applies the cold serum and you complain, “Холодно!” that is when he can no longer deny it.
What was coming out of your mouth sounded nothing like anything he had ever heard in his life.
“Darling… what was that?”
“…I said it’s cold.” His narrowed gaze is so imposing that you thought he was about to give you a lecture over an hour long on which chemical components and temperatures were most appropriate for your skin.
“Would you like to rephrase that?”
“эста…” Vil sets the bottle down on the table, slowly, far too slowly, without taking his eyes off yours.
Cold sweat down your back.
“I cannot understand your words, darling”
Ah… there it is. The massive mistake… and it wasn’t even like you did it on purpose.
From then on, Vil is always evaluating you, as if someone had handed him a new script, noticing the small moments when the magic fails for a second and your accent becomes more noticeable.
Sharp and calculating… but always wanting to hear you speak in that unknown language that fascinates him so much.
Every time you do your nightly routine, he asks you to speak Russian, supposedly because it helps him relax.
It is a lie; he analyzes every syllable, keeping a small mental archive so he can replicate it in private. Most of the time he doesn’t manage it, no matter how hard he tries again and again and again… his tongue still trips over those unknown shapes.
He gets frustrated, but at the same time, he admires you. “Your world is full of surprises.”
Even so, he practices and practices, until his accent is almost perfect. And one night, before you return to Ramshackle, he takes your hand and whispers in your ear:
“Ты красивая”
How terrible it is to teach the words but not the full meaning, because now you are too stunned to respond.
“Did I pronounce it wrong?”
No… on the contrary… it was perfect.
Idia - Chinese
The best moment to let out your inner rage is in the middle of a raid, farming like crazy, or in this case like two crazy people, inside an MMO dungeon where you keep dying thanks to a stupid, cheap boss mechanic.
And especially when you are on a voice call with Idia, who is laughing at your very unfortunate deaths.
…the microphone left the chat after catching your frustrated shout.
“你这个混蛋!这不公平!”
On the other side of the screen, you can practically see the loading circle inside Idia’s mind.
“…what?”
“This is unfair and you’re not helping, you bastard, laughing at my misery.”
“Okay, okay, okay, insult me all you want for your terrible gameplay performance, but… what the hell was that? Was it a melody or a… threat at the same time?”
Oh… looks like there was a translation error.
“That was Chinese.” Your character respawns on screen, and you completely forget that the magic stopped working, focusing again on the enemy on the screen.
Your character may be killing enemies left and right, looting treasures in search of weapons with double stats… but Idia’s character stays completely still for a long while.
You hear the frantic clicking of his keyboard through your headphones, completely unaware that Idia is no longer interested in the game… he probably has three search windows open on each of his monitors.
“I can’t find anything!!” His shout is so absurdly loud that you jolt in your chair, missing a jump and falling straight into the void.
You glare at the screen with pure contempt.
“No database recognizes the phonemes, or the syllable structure, nothing! It’s like the language doesn’t exist!”
“废话!这可是来自我的世界啊!”
“STOP… stop doing that! The translator plugin is collapsing! It’s throwing error codes I’ve never even seen before!”
Despite his protests, he is completely captivated. The fact that it cannot be found, cannot be translated, cannot be hacked, downloaded, or deciphered… it is like you brought a ghost into his digital kingdom.
In the following days, Idia does what he knows best… coding.
He asks you to draw every character, to explain the logographic structure, EVERYTHING! Absolutely everything so he can put it into a new keyboard.
A custom keyboard not only for him, but also for you.
Ortho catches him practicing tones at three in the morning, staring at the audio waveforms of voice notes, trying to match your pitch perfectly.
The microphone overloads when Idia’s scream echoes through the whole room after realizing his little brother had been watching him from the darkness.
One night, after a particularly difficult day, he sends you a message.
Gloomurai: 晚... 安... ?
It is supposed to be 晚安.
You: 晚安,Idia。做个好梦。
His status goes from online to offline at the speed of light.
Malleus - Basque
There are very few things capable of catching Malleus Draconia’s attention as much as something he truly does not know.
Ancient languages? He knows them. Fae dialects? He probably speaks them better than the ones who invented them.
But yours… yours was a problem apart.
The night was far too still over Diasomnia. You were sitting beside Malleus, looking up, talking about nothing and everything at the same time; about your world, about the small things you missed pure and heavy melancholy.
And without thinking, feeling far too comfortable, you murmured to the stars:
“Gaua ederra da, baina zure begiek izarrak baino gehiago distiratzen dute”
Malleus went completely still. His green eyes slowly turned toward you, shining beneath the moon with that ancient intensity that always reminds you that, no matter how much of a school uniform he wears, that man has nothing normal about him.
“Child… what tongue is that?”
Ah. Shit. The translation magic decided to die at the most sentimental moment possible.
“I think… I spoke Basque,” you admitted, scratching your cheek and looking anywhere except into his eyes. “It’s from my world.”
“Basque,” Malleus repeated, and the most ironic part was that he pronounced it perfectly, as if there were no complexity at all to that new language.
“I have heard the tongues of humans, fae, and beasts,” he said calmly. “But never one like that.”
He sounded as if he himself wanted to protect your mother tongue, the same way he protects the ancient languages of his fae culture.
That same mother tongue, the one you think is so insignificant to a creature as eternal and imposing as Malleus, is as precious to him as the first time you said his name out loud. And he was not going to allow you to underestimate it as if it were just anything.
“Your eyes do not say the same,” because to him, it was not just anything. To him, your language was not a rarity or a fun little trick. It was a piece of your world, a small door toward the place you came from and perhaps still did not know how to return to.
Why does this man need to be so observant exactly when it would be much more convenient for you if he were clueless?
Over time, Malleus starts asking you for words. First simple things: night, star, rain, home. “Etxea,” you teach him once.
“Etxea,” he repeats, perfect on the first try.
…Of course. As if being crown prince, ancestral dragon, and walking climate threat were not enough, he also had to have good pronunciation.
“It would be discourteous to mispronounce a word that belongs to your home.”
He also learns “ikusi arte.” And, dangerously, he also learns: “Nire ondoan… ez zaude bakarrik”
You go completely still, because you had taught him that phrase once without thinking too much about it, and he had kept it as if it were something precious.
Because Malleus was going to keep every word that came from you, as precious as the gold a dragon guards in its treasure hoard.
Notes: “Aishhh, all fy mhen ddim cymryd mwy, stopiwch siarad os gwelwch yn dda” = “Aishhh, my head can't take anymore, please stop talking” “Mae’r lleuad yn hardd heno, on’d yw hi? Fel ti” = "The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it? Like you"
“Joder tío! Qué manga de energúmenos que son algunos aquí. Es para darles un coñazo a ver si por fin espabilan!” = "Damn, man! What a bunch of idiots some of these people are. They deserve a good thrashing to finally wake them up!" “Bueno, estaba desahogando mi frustración, pero no iba dirigida a ti. Un poco engreído, no crees?” =“Well, I was venting my frustration, but it wasn’t aimed at you. A little full of yourself, don’t you think?” “deja de joder ya, macho! Qué insoportable!” = "Stop messing around, man! You're unbearable!" "Ven aquí"= "c'mere"
“Posso avere un caffè? No… meglio un frullato, fa troppo caldo ultimamente. Con molto ghiaccio, per favore” = “Can I have a coffee? No… I’d rather have a smoothie, it’s been too hot lately. With lots of ice, please” “Sieh mal, Kalim, der Himmel brennt. Es ist wunderschön!” = “Look, Kalim, the sky is on fire. It’s beautiful” “Ich liebe dich!” = “I love you!”
“Вил, это щекотно” = “Vil, that tickles” “Холодно!” = “it's cold!” “Ты красивая” = “You are beautiful”
“你这个混蛋!这不公平!” = "You bastard! This isn't fair!" “废话!这可是来自我的世界啊!” = “Well, duh! It’s from my world” 晚… 安… ? = Goodnight…? 晚安,Idia。做个好梦。 = Goodnight, Idia. Sweet dreams.
“Gaua ederra da, baina zure begiek izarrak baino gehiago distiratzen dute” = "The night is beautiful, but your eyes shine brighter than the stars" “Etxea” = "Home" “ikusi arte” = "see you later" “Nire ondoan… ez zaude bakarrik” = “By my side… you are not alone”
If NRC housewardens are going to reenact iconic villain scenes with RSA housewardens, I wonder how it’d go with Malleus since Maleficent doesn’t have too many scenes of her opposing the good fairies outside of the curse, but then I remembered when she captured Phillip and taunted him 👀

Alluring Acts | Malleus Draconia
Oh boy. Wasn't this a labor of love for me. I decided to stop using (Y/n) and replaced it with [Name] because I thought it looked better. Also (Y/n) isn't what is used to be apparently? I don't know. I've been out of the fanfic writing community for a hot sec. However, enjoy! I quite like the dialogue in this one and had to base some of Malleus' conversations based on how Helios (my beta reader) speaks. He is not gonna he happy I said that. Divider by @strangergraphics, go check them out!
Summary: Rumors are giving [Name] a bad image so Malleus goes through every precaution to show that they are not true.

I believe I shall never truly be alone
featuring — 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐔𝐒 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐀
You were getting ready for bed when you noticed a flicker of green specks outside your window. You already knew who it was. Grabbing your jacket, you quickly headed outside
As you got closer, you saw the familiar tall silhouette "Tsunotarou! Good evening! How are you?" you greeted with a bright smile as you approached
Yes, the one who always visited Ramshackle during the night. The one and only Malleus Draconia, the future king of Briar Valley.
He turned to you and gave a small smile "Good evening to you as well, Prefect I'm doing well. How about you?"
"I'm good! You're out for another stroll? Did you make sure to tell Sebek and Silver-senpai?" you asked, a small sweat drop appearing as you recalled a certain incident involving the prince and his bodyguards.
"Yes, I informed them. I simply wished to take a stroll" he replied, turning his gaze away for a moment.
You paused and observed him carefully. Then you blinked.
To you, Malleus was surprisingly easy to read almost like an open book, unlike how everyone else perceived him.
The fearsome prince's lips had thinned into a slight frown or rather... he was pouting.
It was such a rare sight that it caught you off guard "Is something wrong, Mal?"
Malleus looked back at you and something in his eyes softened.
He let out a quiet sigh "I was excluded from another Housewarden meeting. Though, admittedly it was my own fault I wasn't informed of the time or the location and now my absence has become an issue. But, in all honesty... I truly wish to take part in those gatherings."
"I've tried thinking of solutions, but none of them seem to work."
You already knew about it. Whenever an important gathering took place, Malleus somehow always ended up being left out. Even during the orientation ceremony, he had been nowhere to be seen.
Still...you never imagined it affected the prince this deeply. Poor guy. He just wanted to be included
"How about messages? I'm sure the others could contact you that way" you suggested
"Those smartphones are incredibly delicate. How can humans value such fragile objects? It's beyond hopeless, It's actually starting to irk me."
A sweat drop formed on your forehead "...Fair point"
"I'm sorry, Prefect. I'm sure I've disturbed your night"
"Not at all. You know... it's actually kind of refreshing to see you like this"
He looked at you with visible confusion "Refreshing?"
"Yep" You let out a small snicker "Malleus Draconia, the strongest mage, the future king of Briar Valley, is standing here at Ramshackle ranting about missing Housewarden meetings"
You laughed softly "But don't take offense to that Mal. I'm just... glad you can tell me these things. It's not wrong to complain every now and then, you know. And you can always come to me whether you want to rant, complain or just talk"
He stared at you for a moment before a smile appeared on his face "Thank you, Prefect. I'm grateful to have a friend like you... and that alone is enough for me"
You smiled back. That was right. Malleus simply wanted friends.
But because of his position, he had never truly been able to have them. People feared him. They avoided him.
That couldn't really be helped.
You still remembered the day Lilia thanked you for becoming Malleus's friend and not once had you regretted it.
"Then... if you're free sometime, can I come to Diasomnia and just hang out?"
Malleus blinked before smiling "I would love to spend time with you. You're welcome to visit anytime"
Your face lit up "Then it's a promise!"
"Yes... it's a promise"
Malleus lingered for a moment, his gaze never leaving you. Then, with a gentle voice, he said "It is rather late. You should head back inside and get some rest. I would not wish for you to tire yourself because of me."
You smiled at his quiet concern "I will. Good night, tsunotarou" With a small wave, you headed back inside. "Good night, my friend. May your dreams be peaceful" he replied. As you glanced back one last time, Malleus remained beneath the moonlight before vanishing into a flurry of green specks.

The next day, only one sentence kept repeating itself in your mind.
"I truly wish to take part in those gatherings."
The disappointment in his voice echoed over and over again. You couldn't help but feel sad.
"(name)?"
Someone shook your shoulder, making you flinch. You turned around.
"You've been staring at your food for the past ten minutes. Are you okay?" Deuce asked, concern evident in his eyes.
"Let me guess, you flunked the quiz today, didn't ya?" Ace teased with a smirk while Grim was busy gobbling up his own food.
You rolled your eyes at him.
"Ace!" Deuce hissed "Just kidding." Ace shrugged before taking another bite of his food. "But seriously, what's up with you?"
"Nothing... just thinking" As you answered, your eyes wandered around the cafeteria before stopping on someone who was already leaving
Riddle Rosehearts
The Housewarden of Heartslabyul.
You blinked before a small smile appeared on your face
Standing up, you completely ignored Grim's confused noises and the Adeuce duo calling after you
You hurried after the red-haired housewarden. "Riddle-senpai!"
Riddle turned around and offered you a polite smile. "Hello, (name)" He stopped walking, waiting for you to catch up "What's the matter?"
"U-Um... I just wanted to ask..." You hesitated for a moment "When will your next Housewarden meeting be... and where?"
Riddle raised an eyebrow "What for?"
"It's a secret! But trust me, I don't mean any trouble. Please, Senpai!" You looked at him with pleading eyes.
Riddle studied your expression for a few seconds before letting out a quiet sigh "This Friday, at 10:30 a.m..in the Mirror Chamber"
"Oh? We don't have classes this Friday"
"Correct. That's precisely why we chose that day"
"So... just to confirm, there won't be any changes, right?"
"Yes. The schedule is final, (name)"
Your face immediately brightened. "Thank you so much, Senpai!" You bowed deeply
"You're welcome. Now, finish your lunch and remember Rule 271, one must leave the table within fifteen minutes of finishing their meal”
"Yes, sir.”

Friday — 9:00 A.M
You woke up early and quietly got ready for the day. Grim was still fast asleep, curled up on his bed and snoring without a care in the world
Smiling to yourself, you decided to let him sleep and slipped out of Ramshackle alone
After finally arriving at the school, you immediately made your way to the Hall of Mirrors, which housed seven magical entryways before making your way toward Diasomnia.
As soon as you stepped through the entrance, a breeze greeted you and as you looked ahead, the towering black castle stood proudly before you, its gothic architecture as imposing as ever. It sent a shiver down your spine, not out of fear but admiration. Diasomnia always looked like something out of a fairy tale.
You entered the dorm, your footsteps echoing softly through the quiet halls.
Almost immediately, you were greeted by Silver.
The silver-haired knight looked slightly surprised to see you. Oddly enough, for the first time since you met him, he seemed completely awake "Oh, (name) It's nice to see you here" He smiled gently "I presume you're here to see Malleus-sama?"
"Yep, Silver-senpai!" you answered cheerfully. "I wanted to ask where he is."
"I can call for him if you like"
Silver was about to turn around when you quickly stopped him "Oh, no, it's alright senpai! Aren't you busy?"
Your gaze fell to the sword in his hand and the light sheen of sweat on his forehead, making it clear he had been training
"Are you sure?" Silver asked. "I don't mind postponing my training"
You shook your head. "It's okay, Silver-senpai. Don't worry about me."
He studied your face for a moment before giving a small nod. "If that's the case... Malleus-sama should be relaxing in the lounge"
"Thank you, Senpai!"
"You're welcome."
After exchanging goodbyes, you headed deeper into Diasomnia.
Their dorm was quiet today and as you entered the lounge...
The very first person you saw made you audibly sigh "...Sebek"
The green-haired guard, who is a Malleus fanatic, immediately noticed your presence
His eyes widened.
Without hesitation, you covered both of your ears. "HUMAN (NAME)! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"
His voice boomed throughout the room.
A clap of thunder echoed outside almost perfectly in sync with his shouting.
You waited until he finished before uncovering your ears. "Calm down, Sebek. I just need to tell tsu—I mean Mal something"
"THAT IS 'MALLEUS-SAMA' TO YOU!"
"yes, yes" You waved your hand dismissively. "I need to tell Malleus-sama something"
"UNFORTUNATELY, WAKA-SAMA IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE!"
You narrowed your eyes "...You don't actually know where he is, do you?"
Sebek immediately stiffened. "I-I DO KNOW WHERE HE IS!"
"Oh really?" You folded your arms "Then tell me"
"L-LIKE I SAID, WAKA—"
Before Sebek could finish,
"Sebek"
A calm voice interrupted him.
"Why are you shouting so early in the morning?"
Sebek instantly straightened his posture and turned to face his Waka-sama, inadvertently shielding you from Malleus' view.
"WAKA-SAMA! GOOD MORNING! WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO PREPARE YOUR BREAKFAST?"
"I'm quite alright" Malleus replied as he stepped closer to Sebek before coming to a halt "...But..."
Tilting his head slightly, he peeked around Sebek's shoulder
At the same time, you leaned to the side and gave him a small wave
"Good morning!"
His eyes widened ever so slightly. "(name)?"
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to hang out with you, remember?"
Sebek practically choked. "...Hang out?"
Before he could begin another lecture, Malleus spoke. "Ah... that's right"
A gentle smile appeared on his face. "Come this way, Prefect"
"Let us enjoy this... 'hangout' as you humans call it" He gestured for you to follow.
You grinned triumphantly before looking back at Sebek.
You couldn't resist giving him a teasing smile.
Judging from the twitch on his forehead...It worked.
Just as Sebek opened his mouth,
"Sebek"
"Please prepare some tea and snacks for the Prefect"
Sebek froze. "...Y-Yes... Waka-sama"
Although his glare practically burned holes into your back, he reluctantly obeyed.
As you went beside Malleus, you smiled warmly "Good morning, Mal."
"Good morning to you as well (name)"
You had every intention of telling him about today's meeting right away... but before you could say a word,
"Would you like to see some of the gargoyles here in Diasomnia?" Malleus asked. He looked... happy
You glanced down at your watch. 9:25 A.M. There was still time. Plenty of it.
Quietly, you set an alarm for 10:15 A.M.
Then you smiled. "Lead the way"
Malleus seemed genuinely pleased by your answer.
As the two of you wandered through Diasomnia together, he enthusiastically pointed out the various gargoyles scattered throughout the dorm
Each one had its own history. Its own craftsmanship. Its own unique charm.
You found yourself smiling more than once, not because of the gargoyles...
But because of how animated Malleus became whenever he spoke about them.
His eyes lit up. His voice carried excitement. It was refreshing to see this side of him.
"Oh, by the way..." you asked "Where's Lilia-senpai?"
"Oh." Malleus answered casually. "He secluded himself earlier. He said he needed to 'grind.'"
"..."
You blinked. He completely forgot about the meeting...
Eventually, the two of you ended up inside Malleus's room.
Tea had already been prepared. Along with a variety of snacks.
Sebek, despite his obvious reluctance, had arranged everything perfectly before silently taking his place outside the room.
The peaceful atmosphere was almost surreal.
You both talked about gargoyles... Books... Magic... The people at school... Your world... Even the strange habits of crows, though it didn't take long for the conversation to drift toward Crowley
Time slipped away far more quickly than either of you realized.
Beep. Beep.
The sound of your alarm broke the peaceful atmosphere.
You pulled out your phone and checked the screen. 10:15 A.M
Malleus glanced at you "...Is it already time for you to leave?" There was a faint trace of disappointment in his voice
You smiled. "Actually...
We need to go, Mal."
"...Me?" He looked genuinely confused
You stood up and brushed the dust from your clothes.
"A Housewarden can't be late to their Housewarden meeting, right?"
Malleus blinked. Once. Twice.
It was obvious he hadn't quite processed your words.
"There's a Housewarden meeting today, 10:30, In the Mirror Chamber"
You stepped closer until you were standing in front of him "So let's go"
"So you won't be late"
Silence settled between the two of you.
"...You..." His voice was unusually quiet
"...You came all the way here...
...just to remind me?"
You nodded without hesitation "Yep"
His brows furrowed slightly "...Why?"
You smiled, your expression as warm as ever "Well..."
"You've helped me countless times...
So I wanted to help you, too
You told me before that you couldn't think of a solution... so..."
A grin spread across your face.
"Then let me be your solution,
I'll remind you of everything,
if no one tells you about the Housewarden meetings or important events...
I'll always be there to tell you.."
Malleus simply stared at you.
Not a single word left his lips.
His eyes quietly searched your face, as though he were trying to memorize every expression you made
Then...
A smile slowly formed on his lips. It was carrying a tenderness that caught you off guard far more than his usual smile ever could
"...(name), thank you"
You rubbed the back of your neck with an embarrassed laugh. "It wasn't a big deal"
"It is to me" he replied without a moment's hesitation.
"You have given me something no one else ever has
I do not believe I shall ever forget that"
Your heart skipped a beat
"N-Now's not really the time to get sentimental"
You let out an awkward laugh and pointed toward the exit.
"We're going to be late"
You reached out, intending to grab his hand and pull him toward the door
Instead, Malleus rose to his feet first
Before you could react, he gently took your hand and his other hand soon came to rest carefully against your waist.
"...Eh? Malleus? Aren't we supposed to be going?"
A quiet chuckle escaped him.
"Prefect,
Sometimes you forget..."
"I am a fae"
"Huh?"
"Hold on tightly"
Before you could ask another question,
The world flipped upside down...
A swirl of light enveloped your vision as the scenery around you dissolved into countless green specks.
The air rushed past in an instant.
Then everything became still
When your eyes finally adjusted...
You were already standing directly in front of the Mirror Chamber.
Your knees gave out from the sudden teleportation
"W-Whoa..." You stumbled forward
Before you could lose your balance, Malleus was already there, a steady hand gently supporting your arm
"That...that was terrifying..." you groaned
A quiet laugh escaped him "My apologies Prefect"
"You don't sound sorry at all..."
"I cannot deny that"
You let out a defeated sigh before giving his shoulder a light shove "...Fine"
"It was faster, I'll give you that"
You nodded toward the entrance to the Mirror Chamber
"Now go. Everyone's probably waiting"
But... he didn't move
Instead... he simply looked at you, just like he did earlier, making you flustered
There was something different in his gaze
"...Mal?"
You tilted your head, looking at him with a shy, puzzled expression
Without saying a word, he slowly reached for your hand
His touch was careful, almost hesitant as though asking for permission despite already holding it
Then with all the grace befitting the future king of Briar Valley, he lifted your hand and pressed a featherlight kiss to the back of it
Your breath caught, your face instantly flushed bright red,
"M-Malleus...?"
He lowered your hand only slightly, his fingers still loosely wrapped around yours
"(name)... my Prefect,
I once believed that loneliness was simply something I was destined to endure,
But because of you...
I find myself looking forward to tomorrow"
His thumb absentmindedly brushed across the back of your hand before he finally let go.
"You remember me
You seek me out
You make certain I am never left behind"
A small smile curved across his lips
"It is a kindness I shall always treasure"
Your heart wouldn't stop racing and you could feel the heat spreading across your face. All you could do was pray you didn't look like a tomato in front of him.
Unable to meet his eyes any longer, you awkwardly scratched your cheek.
"You're making it sound way more dramatic than it is. I was just reminding a friend"
Malleus only chuckled. "Even so..
So long as you continue to remember me...
...I believe I shall never truly be alone"
You opened your mouth to respond, but the words refused to come
Malleus seemed to notice. His smile continued to grow before he finally took a small step back
"I shall return once the meeting has concluded"
He offered you another warm smile
"If you would permit it...
I would like to walk you back to Ramshackle"
You smiled despite the warmth spreading across your face.
"I would like that"
The answer seemed to brighten his expression even more.
For a brief moment, neither of you moved. The quiet between you felt comfortable as though neither of you wished to be the first to end the conversation
At last, Malleus gave a small nod
"Then I shall not keep you waiting"
With one last lingering glance, Malleus turned gracefully and entered the Mirror Chamber
You remained where you were for a few seconds, watching the doors close behind him before finally letting out the breath you hadn't realized you were holding. A small smile lingered on your lips as you turned to wait for his return.

This draft has been sitting in my notes for about a month now, it all started when I groovified Malleus's dorm uniform card. The idea suddenly came to me so I decided to write it. I recently found the draft again and thought it would be fun to rewrite and polish it 😭
I hope you enjoy this one-shot! Some of the requests are also being worked on right now, so I'll be posting them sooner or later. Thank you so much !!
