Would love to hear your theory on how the dark mirror chose Silver 👀
I think there's a possibility that Silver could have gotten acceptance letters from both NRC and RSA, but chose to go to NRC.
I think it might've been somewhere in book 7 where Silver mentions that he got an acceptance letter for NRC and that Sebek was upset and started working hard to get one too (Ik I usually source stuff but honestly 😭😭 book 7 is kind of really annoying to sift through and I think it came up on one of the battle maps aaa)
He doesn't mention a letter to RSA which you can assume there wasn't any, BUT, to that I say-
Theory 1- Silver is more interested in going to school with Malleus and Lilia and didn't consider RSA an option because of that, even if he was invited
Theory 2- Silver doesn't know he got an acceptance letter for RSA because either Lilia or Malleus got rid of it
The thing with NRC and RSA is you don't have to formally apply to the school- the dark mirror simply chooses you and sends you a letter. Lilia was given an NRC invite centuries ago when he was in the army. Clearly he didn't apply, and he ripped it up and trashed it but Raverne pieced it together and hid it for him to find later. It was still valid hundreds of years later.
Silver is blessed by Night Fae that literally changed the genetics of his hair to be silver. NRC is a school for classic Disney villains and Maleficent and her goons are NRC students. With Silver having night magic on him, it makes sense that the dark mirror would recognize an element of darkness on Silver.
Why I think a RSA invite is possible is because Silver still has his Day Fae blessings (his hair was originally golden blonde, and he has the gift of beauty and animal friendship too) and how he has similar characteristics (and moral compass) as RSA characters like Minajael and Rielle and Neige.
I don't see why RSA wouldn't have a system like the dark mirror for themselves. They likely have a magical object that picks out those with light in them to attend their school, and RSA's students are Disney heroines/princesses, which Silver obviously is as well.
Plus, Silver's previous fairy guardians have had contact with the first Ambrose, whose descendant is currently the head mage at RSA. There is a very loose connection between Silver and RSA (That could get stronger or just stay loose)
We learn in book 5 that Kalim is a transfer who skipped the dark mirror and joined NRC months after orientation because his father gave the school money, so maybe some new lore drop will randomly pop up.
But with twst rn there's no way of telling where the direction will go, but this is my current idea.
Silver's night blessings could've drowned out his day blessings, but he is very outwardly a Disney princess and retained day fae magic so that just makes me think RSA was a possibility for him.
As of right now, he is an Aurora who chose to stay with fairies and went back to living as Briar Rose. This Aurora's parents are long dead, and there's no one else who wants him....unless ;)
