Fluffuary Day 3 : Skating
AU : Yuri!!! On Ice inspired au where Lance is a professional skater
Summary : Lance is practicing his skating routine and attracts a shy and curious Keith, OR Skating fic loosely based on Yuri!!! On Ice episodes 2 and 3.
Lance felt his heart pound as he flew across the ice, skates gliding across the slick surface as he nailed each jump. A thousand reminders flew through his mind, fluttering away like butterflies.
"On Love : Agape" filled his ears and he let the music guide his body as he skated. Unconditional love was the theme of this piece. What did that mean to him?
"Looking great, Lance!" An amused voice rang through the rink, breaking Lance's concentration and causing him to fall onto the ice.
"Ouch..." Lance groaned, sitting up and wiping his wet hands on his jeans.
"Lance! Are you alright?"
Lance looked up to see Keith running towards him, hesitating before stepping cautiously onto the ice to get to Lance.
"Oh, Keith, I wouldn't-" Before Lance could warn him, Keith slipped and plopped onto the ice a few yards away from Lance.
They stared at each other for a moment before bursting into a fit of laughter.
"Seriously though... are you okay, Lance? I didn't mean to scare you." Keith gazed at Lance with worried gray eyes, a hint of a smile on his pretty lips.
"Don't worry about it, I'm fine. Did you need something, though?"
Keith flushed, avoiding Lance's gaze. "No, I was just... I just heard the music and wondered who was in here."
Lance laughed, bringing his feet forward to sit more comfortably. "Aw, Keith, were you hoping to find me here?"
Keith's blush darkened, and he met Lance's eyes to stare him down. "No. But I don't regret investigating."
Lance stared at him, slightly taken aback. "Oh. Um. Thanks?"
Keith stood carefully, gripping the wall around the rink so he wouldn't slip again. Only then did Lance realize that music was still coming from the speaker next to Keith. The dark haired boy followed his gaze to look at the CD player.
"Beautiful song," Keith murmured as Lance scrambled to his feet.
"Oh, yeah. Agape. Unconditional love." Lance explained approaching the player to turn off the music.
"Wait," Keith caught Lance's freezing fingers in his own. He stared into Lance's eyes and said, "Will you... skate? For me?"
Lance smiled at Keith's request and dropped him a wink. "Anything for you, lovely. Restart the music when I give you the sign, alright?"
Keith nodded as Lance glid back onto the ice. He made eye contact with Keith and nodded. The music rewound and started again, and Lance felt the beauty of the music take hold of him.
Keith stared, mesmerized by Lance's seemingly flawless choreography. He wouldn't know if there were any mistakes - he knew next to nothing about skating. He just loved to see the Cuban boy throw his heart and soul into the routine.
The music was gorgeous and pure, expertly conveying the "unconditional love" Lance had mentioned.
The music stopped as Lance ended in a final pose, chest heaving. Keith clapped and whistled.
Lance skated over to Keith, placing his hands on the waist-high wall between them. He took Keith's hand and beamed at him. "Did you like it?"
Keith leaned forward and kissed Lance, snaking a hand behind his neck for support. Keith pulled away after a moment, bringing their still clasped hands to his lips so he could brush his lips against Lance's knuckles in a tender kiss.
"Did that answer your question?" Keith's mouth quirked up in a small smile.
Lance nodded vigorously, tucking a lock of Keith's hair behind his ear. "Want to try?"
Keith's expression changed to one of horror. Lance smiled gently. "Not that routine, of course. That's way too complicated. But I don't think you even know how to skate, do you?" When Keith nodded, Lance continued with, "Then we'll start there!"
"No, Lance. I really can't." Keith pulled away from him.
Lance frowned, asking in a sweeter tone, "Please, Keith? I promise you'll like it."
Keith studied Lance's face for a moment before giving in. "Fine."
Fifteen minutes later, Keith had a pair of skates on and was ready to go on the ice.
"So you've never skated before?" Lance asked as Keith wobbled onto the ice.
Keith glared at him as he gripped the wall of the rink. "Actually, I used to skate a lot when I was a kid, but I haven't done it in years. Now show me how to not fall."
As if on cue, Keith slipped and fell. "Ouch," he complained, struggling to get up.
Lance skated over to him and looked down smugly. "Need some help, pretty boy?"
"You said I'd enjoy this!" Keith complained, still unable to get up.
Lance offered his hand to Keith. "All in good time."
Keith took his hand, pulling himself up halfway but comically pulling Lance to the ground before he could actually stand up.
Keith examined Lance as he whined about falling yet again because of Keith. "You're right. I am enjoying this."
"Aw, shut up, Keith. At least I can actually stand for thirty seconds on the ice."
They stared each other down, eyes locked, before Lance darted forward to peck Keith's lips.
"You're too pretty not to kiss right now."
Keith snorted, the hint of a smile playing at his lips. "Nice distraction from the argument, McClain."
Lance smiled wickedly. "My plan exactly. Come here, pretty boy."
