participatory art // interactive light experience Created from steel, metal pull-strings, and 5,000+ light bulbs (both illuminated and burnt out) CLOUD asks the viewer to participate by experiencing the work first hand – standing beneath the structure and pulling lights on and off, creating the flickering aesthetic of an electrical cloud. // Tomorrow the ground forgets you were here “and when there was nothing left we had to create something, we made words out of water so they could flow between us, we waited for a boat to come, hoping these seas we made would not dry out” The sound of the world becomes the music to this new cinematic experience. You are invited to walk and live in streets you know, but invisible as an angel, while custom electronics pick up the noise of the city around you and remix it into music. Satellite positioning lets your journey shape the soundtrack and narrative, while fragments of peoples thoughts drift into your ears as you pass them... By Circumstance
21 Balançoires // interactive music installation The installation offers a fresh look at the idea of cooperation, the notion that we can achieve more together than separately. The result is a giant instrument made of 21 musical swings; each swing in motion triggers different notes, all the swings together compose a piece, but some sounds only emerge from cooperation. The project stimulates ownership of the public space, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds, and creating a place for playing and hanging out in the middle of the city centre. participatory art // capture magic moments Mémorama is a series of observation platforms that give access to hidden landscapes and invites visitors to take part in a live collection of postcards. An integrated camera system frames these unique vantage points and allows people to playfully capture these magic moments and create personal postcards from them. The photos are immediately available via a web platform and can easily be found and shared, resulting in a growing collective archive that spreads around the world. http://memorama.me

Confessions // participatory public art Confessions is a public art roject by Candy Chang. She invites people to anonymously share their confessions and see the confessions of people around them in the heart of the Las Vegas strip. It’s about sex, love, or fears of dying alone. By collecting the confessions of the hotel’s visitors, this project seeks to create a cathartic sanctuary for this temporary community and help us see we are not alone in our quirks, experiences, and struggles as we try to lead fulfilling lives. Nike+ Paint with your feet // creative advertising For the launch of the Nike Free Run+ 2 City Pack series, YesYesNo was invited to develop software that would allow runners to create dynamic paintings with their feet using their Nike+ GPS run data. Using the software the participants were able to play with the mapping and adjust the composition of their run which was then outputted as a high resolution print for them to take home. At Nike Innovation Lab each runner's name, the distance they ran and their run path was lasered onto a custom fabricated shoe box, which contained a pair of the 'City Pack' shoes from their city of origin. Software was made with openFrameworks v007b and uses Moka's ofxTileSaver addon. // Created by YesYesNo in collaboration with DualForces.
Connecting Light // participatory digital art Connecting Light is a digital art installation along Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site. It investigates borders, imagining them not as a line of division, but as a source of connection. The installation consists of hundreds of large-scale, light-filled balloons transmitting colors from one-to-another, creating a communication network spanning over seventy miles. Audience members are invited to participate by sending personalized messages along the light-lined wall at a number of viewing locations or the Website and companion mobile app. If you access the connectinglight.info website from a mobile phone (smart phone) such as android or iOS device, you’ll be presented with the the option to submit a message. // Created by YesYesNo

creative advertising // green footprints Jody Xiong of DDB China in conjunction with the China Environmental Protection Foundation created this outdoor campaign to create a subtle visual reminder of the environmental benefits of walking versus driving. Enormous white canvases with a bare tree were placed across 132 crosswalks in 15 Chinese cities. As pedestrians crossed their shoe soles were imprinted with a small amount of green paint, leaving behind a trail of leaf-like footprints. DDB estimated that nearly 3,920,000 people passed through the installations. The final posters were eventually hung has billboards in several urban locations. Via Colossal

// Behold Google 2012 Ben West and Felix Heyes, two artists and designers from London, replaced the 21.000 words found in your everyday dictionary with whatever shows up first for each word in Google’s image search. The result: a 1240 page behemoth of JPGs, GIFs and PNGs in alphabetical order. A modern contemporary witness. Via Ignant
// points in space by Benjamin Ducroz http://www.ducroz.com “In order to grasp and analyze rhythms, it is necessary to get outside them, but not completely: be it through illness or a technique. A certain exteriority enables the analytic intellect to function. However, to grasp a rhythm it is necessary to have been grasped by it; one must let oneself go, give oneself over, abandon oneself to its duration." // Luzinterruptus is an anonymous artistic group in Madrid who seek to highlight problems within the city using a wide variety of temporary light-based installations. The group is headed up by a duo including an artist and a photographer who have been using their art to create awareness of social and environmental issues since 2008. "We began to act on the streets of Madrid at the end of 2008 with had the simple idea of focusing people´s attention by using light on problems that we found in the city and that seem to go unnoticed to the authorities and citizens. But everything that we do does not have a subversive aim. Sometimes we simply want to embellish, or to highlight anonymous places or corners that seem special or objects to which we think extraordinary artistic value, although they have been left on the streets for unknown seasons, with artistic intention, by anonymous people." http://www.luzinterruptus.com/
