Because they do. Literally just do exactly as 4Chan has done. Tell the governments to fuck off, as tumblr is not a UK or Brazilian based entity. Oh no! The site will get blocked in those countries? Yeah - that's the point. Kowtowing to these laws only empowers them to get stricter and spread - but refusing to comply will kill the countries themselves. Because people who still want to use tumblr will use VPNs while constantly yelling at their governments until those governments try to ban VPNs - at which point the governments will have to expose themselves as more and more fascist to stop people from circumventing their overreach. And the more they expose their fascism? The less people who will comply. Unless the frog sits in the pot and complies from the start - then everyone will have always complied and wonder "Hey when did things get fascist? Why did nobody stop this???"
