Kind of gives you chills .
Good Lord, how delicious! I wanna do that! The next time Iâm in a cathedral, Iâm doing it.Â
As she stood inside an ancient and empty church in MontefrĂo, Spain, Malinda Kathleen Reese belted out one of the best Christmas carols of all time-âO Come, O Come Emmanuelâ and the end result was just heavenly.
Iâm obsessed with this because A. Victorian Christmas Carols B. European Cathedrals C. Itâs gorgeous and fuckin choristers are my favorite
Thatâs beautiful. I tried this with âJerusalemâ in a little village church in the Cotswolds, just because Iâm American and it seemed so quintessentially frickinâ English.
Beautiful
This is Alice Mpofu-Coles, a 53-year-old activist and PhD research student at the University of Reading who also volunteers with refugees.Â
She told BuzzFeed News that the book is made up from extracts of a journal she wrote during her struggle with breast cancer. Sheâs been writing it for over 10 years.
A former Zimbabwean diplomat who came to the UK as a refugee herself in 2002, Mpofu-Coles was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007.
She had lost her brothers, parents and first husband in a short space of time, and her daughters â Michelle, 26, and Tadiwa, 21 â were still young.
âI started writing into a journal daily about how I feel. I didnât have many people to talk to so I just used to write talking to God,â she told BuzzFeed News.
âIt is a mini bio about the struggle with breast cancer: the resilience, the support, the doctors, the lows and ups, the reflection [on] my childhood,â she said, adding that it also looks at how she coped with the deaths of her husband and family.
The book, called âDear God From Your Poached Egg Breastâ, also covers her time as a female civil servant and diplomat for Zimbabweâs government, working and studying through cancer treatment and chronic pain, and contains âan infusion of African innuendos to âDear GodâŚââ she said.

Blake Lively as Emily Nelson in A Simple Favor (2018)
By Alexandra Von Fuerst for Vogue Italia
it just occurred to me that cats are basically pet monsters
go bump in the night
scratches at your door
alarming noises
âwhere are you, kitty?â looks under bed to see a pair of luminous eyes staring out of the gloom, unblinking. âoh there you are!â
you spot movement out of the corner of your eye, but when you turn to look you see nothingÂ
turn back and THERE IT IS
I regret all of the years I pretended to not like the color pink or girls

OK so I cried a little though in context it was obvious what was gonna happen
Between the comment and the dramatic music, I thought it was gonna be sad. Thankfully, it was just awesome.
Speaking of Pillowfort, they're still a very new website, and from what I've read, they hope to make registration free in the future. And even then, it feels like people are overreacting.
Theyâre not even ânewâ. Like, really. People donât seem to understand what it actually means to be âin betaâ, let alone closed beta. Theyâre pre-new.
I get that there are a lot of services that call themselves beta and are more stable/established/better funded, but it still means youâre going to be in for a bumpy ride and that the service is being made available âas-isâ because itâs still in active development.
To clarify, Pillowfort intends to make registration free when they go into open beta, and to fund the site via 1) optional paid memberships for additional, non-essential features, and 2) an opt-in ad program. Personally, Iâm wary of the latter, but I understand the desire of having that additional source of revenue when theyâre just starting out, and itâs my hope that with enough support via paid members, they wonât need to resort to it after all.
People on this site seem to understand the value of supporting artists, crafters, writers, etc for the time and effort they put into their work, yet have come to expect online services to be free.
As far as I know, the Pillowfort âteamâ only has two full-time developers working on the site. Never minding the sky-high server/bandwidth expenses of running a website with thousands of usersâ these are people who are working on this project in place of a more reliable job at an established agency or company. Does their time and effort have no value?
Programmers are in demand. Theyâre well-paid positions. If they wanted to make easy money, building their own social media platform from scratch and politely asking users to maybe pay five freaking dollars is about as far from âeasy moneyâ as they could get.
The notion that itâs âshadyâ and âcapitalisticâ of them to want their project to be able to break even is absolutely fucking ridiculous.
As far as their for-profit status goes, I can hardly blame them. The amount of accountability required to run a non-profit involves a lot of work and comes with a lot of legal red tape. I wouldnât expect a project this early in its infancy to have the resources to handle that.
And letâs be real: AO3 is a non-profit that runs on a shoestring budget and has all their expense/revenue info publicly availableâ and yet there are still people who âââdonât trust why they need that much moneyâââ
This isnât a matter of people genuinely being concerned about where their money goes. The majority of them just donât acknowledge the value of the service theyâre being provided and are looking for any excuse not to pay for it.
