“let’s break up.”
words yuta would’ve never expected in a million years.
“w-why?” he grabbed y/ns hands, or at least tried to but she pulled away. “what happened?”
“this is all too much for me. i can’t do a relationship anymore.” she looked away. “it’ll be best if we break up.”
his ears started ringing. this was all so sudden. just yesterday they were so happy and in love and today she just wants to break up? why?
“why? i don’t think its the best. i don’t want to break up at all.” he pleaded.
she sighed like it was so much effort to keep talking to him. he has never in their nine months of dating seen her act like this before. she switched up overnight. she was like a brand new person. she was heartless.
“yuta, i said we’re done. can i go now?” she rubbed her head. “i like do not want to talk to you anymore.”
he watched her walk away. did nine months really mean nothing to her? nine months was a long time for two sixteen year olds. he watched as she went and struck up a conversation with megumi. he could hear the way her voice was suddenly back to its normal tone, her bright and bubbly tone. her smile was so bright. a smile that used to be that bright with him.
that night was so hard for him. he couldn’t sleep without her by his side. it was just too quiet, too cold. he needed her body pressed up against him again. he needed the smell of her shampoo overflowing his nose. he needed her.
y/n cried herself to sleep. she didn’t want to break up but she didn’t know what to do. she didn’t know how to handle her feelings that felt all over the place. the best thing that she thought to do was just to end it and never speak about it again.
a couple days have passed since the breakup. everyone noticed. the air between the two was tense and awkward and yuta was so out of it. only maki dared to ask what happened.
“so you and y/n? anything going on?” she asked yuta.
yuta gave her the saddest puppy dog eyes ever.
“we broke up.” yuta pouted.
“why?”
“i don’t know why. it happened so quickly. i didn’t have enough time to think, i didn’t have enough time to stop it.” he sighed. “i’ll never move on from her.”
“don’t you think you’re being a little dramatic. it’s only been a couple of days.” maki chuckled.
“but i’m leaving soon.”
on the other side of the field, inumaki and y/n were chatting. yuta stared at the from afar and felt jealous but there wasn’t anything he could do anymore. she wasn’t his anymore.
god the way the wind blowed her hair, made his heart race. her cheeks looked so squishy when she rested her chin on her two hands. she wasn’t still so beautiful.
“mustard leaf?” inumaki asked.
“inumaki.” y/n pouted. “we broke up.”
“bonito flakes?”
“okay so tell me why i literally had to hear about him leaving to africa from maki? can you believe?” she scoffed. “and he’s literally leaving in tomorrow and he didn’t think to tell me first! ugh that just pisses me off so freaking much! isn’t that so bogus? he could’ve told me as soon as he found out.”
“salmon.”
“oh and guess what? i learned that he used to like maki. so not only does he not tell me first, he tells the girl he used to like first!” she stood up. “im so freaking pissed! i was literally his girlfriend for nine months!”
her cursed energy surged, making everyone look over, even yuta. he didn’t know how to feel. she was so open with telling inumaki about her feelings but she couldn’t even tell him. he felt heartbroken. she didn’t feel comfortable enough with him, her own boyfriend, but she felt comfortable with his best friend.
during their down time, yuta mustered up the courage to talk to y/n again. he needed to talk to her before he left. he just wanted to hear her voice, even if it was just her yelling at him.
“y/n.” he put a hand on her shoulder. “can we talk? please?” his voice sounded so so so soft. y/n was weak to men with soft voices, especially when it sounded like they’re begging.
“fine.” she sighed, standing up and leading him to a corner of the school where they frequently hung out at.
even though her face had no visible signs, her heart was beating out of her chest. what was he going to say? was he going to bring up maki? was he going to ask to get back together? what was he going to do?
“i’m sorry.” he started. “whatever i did, im sorry.”
silence. now she was pissed again. he didn’t even know what he did wrong!!! yuta could feel her cursed energy once again rising. he needed to calm her down but he didn’t know how.
“please forgive me.” he hugged her.
“you don’t even know why im upset.” her voiced cracked. “how could you apologize but you don’t even know what you did wrong?”
she pulled away from the hug. she didn’t face him, she didn’t want him to see her face. she was hurt, more hurt than angry. this was the first time she has experienced such heartbreak.
“can’t you tell me?” he held her hands in his. he always liked how big she made him feel. “tell me so i can make it right.”
“if i told you, would you care because you see it as an issue, or would you only care about it because it made me upset?” she asked.
he stayed quiet because he truly didn’t know. she always got upset about things that he saw as little or insignificant. he didn’t know how to answer.
she started crying. the sound of her sniffling and rapid breathing made his heart ache. he didn’t want to see her cry. he never wanted to be the reason why she was crying in the first place.
“you didn’t tell me that you were leaving.” she managed to get out. “you…. you told maki instead!”
he put her head into his chest. it’s not like he forgot to tell her, he just didn’t know how to do it. they were so happy. how could he tell her he was leaving to a different continent?
“and then, and then i find out that you used to like maki before me! so not only did you not tell me anything, you also went to the girl before me!” she started bawling. “am i not important to you?”
“you’re important to me.” he put a hand on her head. “i’m sorry i didn’t tell you that i was leaving.”
he silently cried with her because he knew that they weren’t going to get back together. he knew that he messed up and it was too late. they knew they could never make a long distance relationship last.
she didn’t see him off at the airport. she didn’t send a text or call. he didn’t either. there was no point in rekindling their relationship while so far away.
he missed her. he missed her like crazy. it’s been six months since she broke up with him and he couldn’t move on. he couldn’t stop loving her. every night in his dreams she appeared. it all felt so real. he could smell her perfume. he could actually feel her body against his. he needed her back. he needed it all back.
y/n was living life. she was now a semi grade one. sure she almost died but yay she didn’t. she missed yuta though. she missed him whenever she was sad or was hurt. she really missed him when she ranked up. he would’ve been so happy for her.
after narrowly escaping death in shibuya, she rested for the first time in months. ever since the breakup she always kept herself busy, but on orders from shoko, she was forced to rest.
“how are you feeling?” megumi entered her room. “everything okay?”
“i’m ready to get up.” she opened one eye and peeked at him. “would you snitch?”
“yeah.”
“lame.” she blew a raspberry.
they got closer. she liked how nonchalant he kinda was. she liked how he was a crashout at times too. he was funny in a weird way. he was cute, like a little brother.
“where is she?” yuta landed back in japan. he heard that gojo was sealed, inumaki had his arms cut off, maki was severely burned and his y/n was nearly killed. he walked into her room and saw megumi already in there.
“yuta?” she sat up, wincing in pain.
“don’t move too fast.” he rushed to her side. “just rest.”
he was honestly a little ticked off at the sight of megumi alone in her room with her, but there was nothing he could do or say as they weren’t even together anymore. seeing her in such a state made his knees weak. megumi knew how to read the room and left.
“i was so worried about you.” yuta dropped to his knees. “im so glad you’re alright.”
he held her hand and kissed it. seeing her alive was all he needed to continue. she was breathing and talking. she was okay.
“i’m sorry.” he said from his knees. “i thought about what i did. i thought about your question. i was wrong. i care about it because i see it as an issue for us, for our relationship and because it makes you upset. i never want to see you upset again.” he hung his head. “i should’ve told you first. i should’ve never told maki before you. i just didn’t know what to do, and i know that’s no excuse at all. i may have liked her, but the girl i love is you. i miss you. i can’t do anything without you.”
she cupped his face and made him look up at her. she smiled when their eyes met. he was always her cute handsome strong boyfriend.
“i forgive you.” she stroked his cheek. “i’m sorry too. i should’ve communicated better.”
when she almost died, the first thing she regretted was being so cruel to yuta. the first thing she wanted to say when she saw him was that she loved him.
“i love you.” he looked up at her, his voice so soft that only them two could hear.
“i love you too.” she smiled.
“are you guys done?” megumi walked into the room again. “we have bigger fish to fry.”

Today had been one of those days. The kind that was full of so many small inconveniences it was almost overwhelming.
And on top of that, you hadn’t properly spoken to your boyfriend all day, which was odd. Now that you thought about it, he seemed to be avoiding you.
He left every room you entered, didn’t respond to your texts and walked past you in the halls without acknowledgement. You convinced yourself that you were getting in your own head. Sukuna was very direct. Maybe he was busy or distracted.
There was no need to stress.
You entered the frat house and trudged straight towards Sukuna’s room, exhaustion being your only fuel.
You entered the room and found your boyfriend on his bed, scrolling on his phone. “Hi baby.” You muttered as you dropped your bag. You waited to hear his response, but none came. His eyes didn’t even flick upwards.
Odd?
You decided that today had probably been one of those days for Sukuna too, and that was why he was cosplaying a marble statue. After all, you knew that Sukuna wasn’t great at regulating his emotions, so maybe he needed silence?
You walked towards the bed and placed yourself in his arms, snuggling into his chest. He immediately stiffened. Something was definitely wrong. “Baby are yo-”
You were cut off by him abruptly standing up and leaving the room. What. The. Fuck?
You couldn’t even register what just happened. Had you done something? You racked your brain. Nothing.
Maybe he just wasn’t talking to anyone.
That theory was quickly debunked when you left his room and saw him laughing downstairs with Toji who was meal prepping before heading on his way to the gym.
You frowned a little at that. So it was only you.
You ran yourself mad, as you re-entered his room, trying to think of what you had done. You were genuinely at a loss. Sukuna had never done anything like this before, so you didn’t know what to do.
You decided to try once more as you went downstairs to now find Sukuna on the couch watching tv. You felt the lump forming in your throat as you sat beside him.
You turned to him trying to catch his eyes that had turned cold the second that you walked in. “Baby please.”’ You whisper, staring at the couch fibres. Hoping, no, praying that he would show you some mercy.
As he pushed off of the chair, your resolve broke and you fell apart. The weight of the day and Sukuna’s actions crashed over you. You sobbed silently and Sukuna froze when he heard you sniffle. He finally turned to you and saw you. His beautiful girlfriend, reduced to a bundle of tears.
He immediately walked over to you, even though his mind told him to ignore it, picking you up and placing your head into his chest.
You shook in his arms as you continued to cry. God you felt pathetic. People had worse going on, and here you were crying because you had a bad day and your boyfriend was ignoring you.
Sukuna stroked your head, trying to calm you down. “W-what did I d-do.” You said through tears and that broke him. He hadn’t meant to make you cry. Not speaking to you had made sense at first.
Sukuna shushed you as he took you upstairs to his room. He placed you on the bed before he left to get you some tissues and water.
When he returned to the room, you were curled into a pillow, trying to hide your still flowing tears. Why couldn’t you stop?
Sukuna sat beside you in the bed as your face remained buried in the pillow.
After a few moments of silence you asked, “Are you breaking up with me?” Sukuna’s mind flipped immediately as dread filled his stomach. “No.” He said way too quickly.
“Then why aren’t you speaking to me.” You said quietly.
He sighed. You looked up from the pillow, meeting his eyes for the first time today.
“So that you don’t break up with me.” he quietly admitted.
All you could think was. What the hell is he talking about?
The question was clearly written all over your face, so, he continued. “I heard your conversation with Shoko.”
Conversation with Shoko? What is he-
The memory of your conversation with Shoko earlier that day hit you like a truck. You had been complaining about one of your tutees. He had been using your sessions as an opportunity to ogle at your tits instead of actual work and you couldn’t be fucked for it anymore.
You remember telling Shoko that “he’s too much, it’s honestly pathetic.” and that he was getting creepy and that “as long as I have anything to do with it, this relationship ends today.”
Sukuna must’ve heard only that part of the conversation. To be fair to him, anyone listening in would’ve thought that you were talking about breaking up with your boyfriend and not ending an academic relationship.
You sighed as you looked at your usually stoic boyfriend. He looked anxious, almost sick, waiting for you to say something.
“So you ignored me because?”
Now that he thought about it. His plan was full of flaws. He felt almost embarrassed as he admitted, “I thought that, if I didn’t give you the opportunity to speak to me, you wouldn’t be able to break up with me.”
It was cute. You guess. Stupid. Like really fucking stupid. But cute.
You explained the situation to him and he appeared to shrink a little. Embarrassment?
You looked up at him with wet lashes as you mumbled, “You’re such a fucking idiot.” He nodded immediately, afraid you would cry again if he disagreed. “Don’t try that shit again, or I swear to God, I will break up with you.”
“Never.” he whispered before pulling you into his lap.
You hummed as you sunk into his chest, mumbling,“You have to make it up to me.”
He rested his chin against your head as he muttered something about murdering the pervert who caused all of this.

Thank you to all my followers and everyone who interacts with my content. It’s actually really nice to see bc i’m very critical of my work so i’m glad that y’all enjoy ittt.
ᨳ𝐜/𝐰: makeout, light grinding, kisses.ᐟ (might be ooc as well😓)
"And before I could—" and your boyfriend, well supposed to be secret boyfriend megumi, hears nothing whatever you were saying, smiling like an idiot in love; cause that's what he was.
In love with you. Impossibly so.
"Megs, are you listening?"
He nods. "Yes."
"And what was i saying?" Your brows raised in amusement.
"Yes."
"What was i wearing?"
And without missing a beat, megumi smiled again with a nod. "Yes, y/n." Amused and half irritated, you hit his chest playfully. "You're not listening to a word, I'm saying, megs!"
Megumi caught your hand, kissing the tip of your fingers softly. "How can I hear to anything you're saying when you look so fucking adorable?" Pink dusted your face, flushed. "You're really a different man when the doors are closed," you muttered.
Snaking his hands around your waist, megumi pulled you onto his lap as your straddle his, his hands holding you steady. "So pretty when you speak, baby," he rasped, kissing down your neck.
Gasping as his lips suck and graze on your skin, your head tilts back letting him kiss every inch of skin to his hearts' content. "Megumi~" you moan, your fingers tangling in his raven locks, pulling gently when he leaves a mark.
His lips are on yours, his tongue exploring your mouth like it was his life's mission. Pushing down your core agaisnt his growing hard on, he groans into your mouth, bitring on your lips.
Whining, your hips starts moving involuntarily, growing needier and wetter by the minute. "Fuck, megs, need you."
Before your boyfriend could say or do anything, the dorm door bursts open, a pair of overexcited nobara and yuji bursting into the room with more energy than a toddlers'.
"Y/N! MEGUMI! WE BROUGHT—" both of their words die down on their tongue as they take in the situation: you on his lap, red blooming across your neck and half-undressed shoulder.
"EWWW!"
Nobara was the one who screamed, her hand flying to cover yuji's widened eyes. "Close your eyes yuji, quick! It's too scandalous!"
You on the other hand felt your face burn in embarrassment. Trying your best to hide your face into your boyfriend's chest, megumi holds you close.
"Tsk," he tuts annoyed lying but his hands ever the gentle as they hold you. "Can't you guys like knock or something?"
Yuji grins, moving away from nobara's hand in front of his eyes. "Well excuse us for thinking that our friends wouldn't be making out with each other!?"
Megumi rolls his eyes before a prideful smile adrons his lips. "You'd know how hard it is to hold back when you have a girlfriend as amazing as y/n," he states matter-of-factly.
And let's just say nobara grilled you about your relationship with the grumpy sea urchin for more than half an hour.
it’s late when sukuna returns, shards of moonlight peeking through the blinds of your shared home like pieces of glass. you’d been up late waiting for him, same as every night.
you lift your head up from your palm when you hear the sound of shoes scuffling, tired expression letting up into a soft smile at the sight of your boyfriend. you get up immediately to make your way over.
you don’t notice it: the tension in his features or the almost-scowl on his face, the aura of irritation he’s carrying like a weight. you’re blinded by affection.
“hi, kuna,” you smile sweetly, tiptoeing to wrap your arms around his neck as you lean into him. he tenses up under your touch and you coo sympathetically, rubbing his back. “long day?”
“um, yeah,” sukuna grunts, not moving to reciprocate the embrace. he shifts slightly, irritation radiating off him in waves. “could you let go? ‘m gonna go take a shower.”
he sounds annoyed, you realise, but he’s probably just exhausted. of course you’re gonna try your best to help, and cuddles always helped, at least for you. you could do that.
“nuh-uh,” you reply instantly, smiling as you cling to sukuna tighter. your face drops onto his shoulder, nuzzling as you inhale his heady scent. “you can shower later, let’s cuddle first. i miss you.”
“later.” his voice rises.
you pout childishly. “no, now, you’re tired and i can hug you and —“
“i said, later.” sukuna finally snaps, tone poisonous and voice tight like coiled wire. he crosses his arms, his way of pushing you off without actually doing it. “you just never fuckin’ know when to quit, do you?”
you freeze.
he doesn’t yell, never does, but this is worse somehow. harder to swallow because you can feel the pure anger in it.
you don’t trust your voice enough to respond. slowly dropping your hands off him, you take a quiet, shaky step back. sukuna grunts in approval, rubbing his temples. “i’ve had a long day. can’t deal with you right now.”
that pierces through your heart like a bullet. suddenly, all you’re filled with is hurt and guilt and the slightest twinge of anger. you fight to keep a straight face as your eyes sting.
can’t deal with you right now.
what the hell was that supposed to mean?
sukuna had never once made you feel like a burden, ever. you knew what he was like before you started dating, you’d heard everything about how he fucked people over.
but he always treated you like you were the most precious thing on earth, like you were something to be handled with gentleness. you almost believed it, stupid girl.
now you got it. you understood exactly what everyone had been telling you. he finally got sick of you, eventually realised that you were too annoying. too bright, too nice, too much for him.
but maybe he didn’t have to be such an asshole about it, you think as you bite down on your lip to hold back tears.
“okay,” you exhale, struggling to keep your voice even. “i’m sorry. i, um- i ran you a bath.”
the tense silence is deafening. you swallow, voice growing quieter. “i’ll just go to bed then.”
sukuna doesn’t respond, glaring at something on the floor. you quickly turn around and make your way to the bedroom, the dam quietly breaking as soon as the door’s closed and you're out of his view.
you settle into bed, tucking in with your hands wrapped tightly around your body like a shield. the sound of the bathroom door slamming shut makes you flinch.
the clink of the shower turning on follows right after; he didn’t even use the bath you set up for him.
you hate feeling this way. like you did something wrong and you don’t know what, like he did something wrong and you don’t want to admit it.
quiet sniffles escape you as you close your eyes, feeling the cold tears drip down the bridge of your nose, down your temples. you will yourself to sleep, despite knowing it won’t come.
it’s a long time before you feel a dip in the bed, sukuna’s weight climbing in next to you. you’re in that weird headspace between wakefulness and sleep, but immediately tense awake at the jostling.
it takes a moment before he says anything. almost like he’s hesitating. you hear his heavy breaths.
“hey, baby,” he finally murmurs from behind you, hand reaching out, hovering before he gently puts it on your waist. checking if it’s okay.
you turn rigid, and sukuna retracts his hand like he’s been burned, frowning slightly.
“you’re upset,” he mutters. not a question.
he’s unsurprised when you don’t reply, but he hopes you’ll give him a sliver of a chance anyway. “could you at least turn around?” he grunts. “look at me?”
silence.
he sighs, softer now. he grumbles something under his breath before speaking up again. “please?”
it takes a minute before you begrudgingly shift, rolling over so you’re facing him instead of the wall. you glare up at him, sitting on the covers and looking down at you.
sukuna looks you over.
he thinks he feels something in him crack at the sight of your dried tear tracks, puffy red eyes.
he made you, his sweet, angelic girl, cry. you were just trying to take care of him. only trying to make him feel better, and he snapped at you, and now he feels like the biggest loser on earth. all because of what? a fucking bad day?
idiot, he thinks to himself as he reaches out, both hands cupping your cheeks. he wipes your tears away firmly, so gentle despite it all.
you huff, trying to pull back, but sukuna doesn’t budge. his hands stay on your jaw, soft as his thumbs brush your cheeks.
“let go,” you muster angrily, but it’s a weak attempt.
“no.”
“sukuna, let me go. you’re such an —“
“asshole, i know,” he exhales roughly. his thumbs pause in their ministrations, pressing down on your skin softly. “bitch, jerk, fucking dick. i know. and i’m sorry.”
one hand moves to card gently through your hair, and he feels you grow more pliant under his touch. “i shouldn’t have snapped at you,” sukuna continues. “i had a bad fucking day, people saying the stupidest shit and pissing me off in every way possible. but that wasn’t… i shouldn’t have taken it out on you.”
you swallow.
“no, you shouldn’t have,” you mumble, all your anger dissipating into something akin to hurt. you tilt your head down to look at your fiddling fingers. “i thought i did something wrong. or maybe you just finally realised you were sick of me, and you hated me.”
“no, baby —“ sukuna responds, almost desperate as he tilts your chin up to look back up at him. he presses a rough kiss to the side of your mouth, hating to see his bright girl looking so dim. “— fuck, no. you did nothing wrong, yeah? i was an absolute idiot, taking out my anger on you, when you were just trying to be nice.”
you bite your tongue. “you really are,” you say quietly, gaze locked on him. “an absolute idiot.”
“i am, baby,” sukuna agrees, brushing a curl back from your face. “you didn’t deserve that.”
he’s looking at you with not just guilt, but that quiet affection now, the one reserved just for you.
slowly, he bends down but doesn’t yet close the gap. he’s waiting for you to do it, or maybe to pull away if you want to. you give in.
you wrap your arms around his neck, using it as leverage to pull yourself up to meet his lips. he holds you up easily.
the kiss is soft, reverent, sorry, like sukuna’s never kissed before. his passion is still obvious, but it’s gentler now. moulding into something sweeter just for you.
it’s a while before you pull away, his warm breath fanning over your skin as he rests his forehead against yours.
his hands are warm where they’ve slipped under your top, drawing quiet patterns on your hip. you melt into his touch, resting your head on his shoulder with your fingers tangling in the hair at his nape.
“so,” he murmurs, and you feel the vibrations of his voice. “does this mean you’ve forgiven me?”
“maybe,” you mumble, lips twitching. “if you buy me a slice of that strawberry shortcake tomorrow, i’ll consider it.”
“how many ever you want, baby,” sukuna presses a quick kiss to the crown of your head. “i’ll get you the whole damn bakery.”

Your boyfriend, Choso Kamo has always dreamt of people knowing his name. His garage band being a success and popular among the school.
Back in high school, it was simply just a dream of his. A topic you both often talked about, laying down on your car booth while looking at the stars scattered across the sky.
"One day... People are gonna know the Kamo Boys. They're gonna hear us one day and think 'Damn, these guys are awesome." he said.
You chuckled a little, nudging his shoulder. "When that happens, don't forget about me alright?"
Choso rolled his eyes before wrapping an arm around you. "As if I'd ever forget my biggest supporter" he snickered.
And of course, you believed him...
2 years later, you and Choso are finally in college. And so far, it has been a dream come true. The Kamo boys wasn't completely famous, but was known all over the college.
People always recognised him, not like back in high school when people looked and steered away from him.
This time, people waved and smiled at him. Students stopped by to congratulate him from his latest successful gig.
And him and his band were always invited to every party, every event, you name it. And for the first time in his life... Choso was popular.
You couldn't be anymore happy for your boyfriend. After all, it's been a dream of his to make it this far.
Watching him smile on stage, watching people cheer his name, watching him finally get the attention he's always wanted...
It made you feel proud. Because you remembered everything he's done to get up to this point.
All the hard work he's done, the effort he's put into this, every failed gigs, every empty audience.
He deserved this.
But you didn't expect it to change things between you two.
︾︾︾
Currently, your sitting at a diner where you and Choso have your usual date nights. It wasn't anything fancy, just a small diner near the campus.
Your fingers tap against the wooden table impatiently. It's been an hour since he was supposed to be here and your're starting to feel impatient.
Your gaze went towards the door as the bell above it chimed. Each time it opened, you felt a rush of excitement just for it to be replaced with disappointment to see it was just another customer.
A waitress walked over towards you with a smile "Would you like to order anything else while you wait?"
You forced a small smile and shook your head "No thank you"
The milkshake across from you began to melt. You ordered Choso's favorite milkshake so it'd be there when he arrives. But it just sat there, untouched.
Your phone suddenly buzzed against the table, a notification from your boyfriend.
'I'm sorry baby, I have to cancel. I have a really important band meeting tonight. You know how busy I've been lately preparing for the talent show and sorry about that. Maybe next week?'
For some reason, you weren't surprised he forgot about your date. After all, he's been so busy with everything that you barely got to see him lately.
Every time there was a rehearsal, then a meeting, then a performance. Every time, there was a reason. Every time, he apologized and promised next time. Every time, you told him it was okay.
Sure it hurt a bit, but it's only for a short time right? After the talent show, he's going to have more free time for you right?
'It's okay, same time next week?' you quickly typed up.
Not even a second later, he replies back. 'Of course, love you babe💕 '
You turn off your phone and take a sip of your milkshake before heading out.
A small smile tugged at your lips despite the disappointment feeling in your chest.
You know he isn't doing it on purpose.
Choso had never been the type to intentionally hurt you.
He was just… busy. That's all.
As you walk back to the campus, you couldn't help but try to convince yourself with the same thought you'd had for weeks.
'It's only until the talent show… After that thinks would go back to normal'
Right…?
︾︾︾
Finally, the day of the talent show arrived. The crowd cheered as the judges announced this year's talent show winner.
"At first place let's give it up for... THE KAMO BOYS!!!"
The room exploded into cheers, and everyone stood up from their seats clapping and cheering. The lights shone brightly against Choso and his bandmates as they stood there, taking in the scene in front of them.
They won
It made you feel a sense of pride, seeing him achive everything he's worked so hard for.
All the late night practices, all the rehearsals, all the missed dates. The effort they've put into this has finally paid off. And you couldn't be anymore proud of him.
He's finally got everything he ever wanted.
You watched from the crowd, smiling to yourself. Even ththough things between you two have been different lately and you barely get to spend time with him anymore, it still made you happy that it wasn't all for nothing.
As the crowd made their way towards the stage to congratulate them, you slowly joined them and make your way towards Choso with a big smile on your face.
Everyone wanted to congratulate him and tell him about how amazing he did tonight. Asking questions and trying to get his attention.
You wait for him to notice you, to look for you, like how he normally does.
As time stretched, it seemed like he was too busy to look for you.
But no matter how many people wanted his attention, he usually always searched for you first.
'I mean... It's okay right...? I can talk to him later at the diner since we have a date tonight...'
is head turned to your direction, and starts making his way towards your direction.
A small smile spreads across your face as you opened your arms, wanting to pull him into your arms.
"CHOSO MY MANN!" a loud familiar voice behind you shouts.
Choso instantly smiled and walked towards Gojo, skimming past you.
Oh...
Gojo pushed through the crowds with a grin on his face, immediately throwing an arm around Choso.
"Dude that was insane! I knew you played good but I didn't know you were THAT good"
Choso laughed, his smile growing wider "Your over exaggerating it"
"He's not" Geto chimed in, walking over the two with Toji and Sukuna. "Your the hot topic right now. Everyone's talking about you"
Sukuna smirked "Not gonna lie, Kamo. I thought you were just gonna embarrass yourself up there."
Choso raised an eyebrow and chuckled "Wow, thanks"
Toji grins and pats him in the shoulder "Someone's getting popular"
Choso laughed at their comments, shaking his head.
You watched quietly as the group of frats surround him. And it made you realise just how different things became between you two.
Before, Choso was someone who would always look for you first. He would find you in a crowd, and make sure you were there beside him.
But things are different now
Everyone wanted his attiention, and he's enjoying every single part of it. Not that you hated it, this was his dream after all.
But you didn't expect things between you two to change.
Then, you overheard Gojo talking about some kind of party.
Choso looked confused "Celebration party for me?"
"Obviously" Gojo laughed, "You won the talent show, we gotta celebrate tonight"
"A big one" Sukuna said
"You have to come, it's not like you have plans tonight right?" Geto added
Choso smiled "Nah I'm free tonight"
The group cheered, then started making their way towards the exit while talking about how tonight party would be one of the best.
Your heart dropped as you stood there in disbelief. 'Did he just ditch our date or did he forget?'
The auditorium slowly became quieter as students began leaving the room. Leaving you just standing there, lost in your thoughts.
'Yea he just forgot right..?' You try to convince yourself as you grab out your phone and started typing.
'Where are you? Aren't we going out tonight?'
You start walking towards the exit, until you felt your phone buzz against your hand.
'Sorry baby. The band's got an important meeting tonight after all the talent show stuff. I can't tonight 🤍'
A meeting...???
He just walked out with his friends planning a party not his bandmates.
Did he just lie to you???
You replied with a thumbs up before putting your phone back in your pocket.
Anger and frustration came crashing onto you as you think about tonight's events. You just didn't get why he lied to you.
You told yourself that it was all your imagination, that nothing has changed between you two.
But now, you couldn't even convince yourself that everything was fine and nothing was wrong.
Because things aren't the way they used to be.
︾︾︾
It's been a week since the talent show, and you and Choso have grown farther apart than it used to be.
You havent seen him once since then, except for when he's surround by people at the campus.
Even when you text him, his replies are always short. And when you call him, it's rarely answered.
You stopped trying to talk to him after the third day. It's not like you were angry, you just feel hurt.
"Come on" your best friend Shoko sighed. "You can't stayed locked up here forever"
"I don't feel like partying" you mumble as you pull the covers higher.
"I know" she smiled softly "But maybe going out for one night would help"
After a few minutes of silence, a long defeated sigh escaped your lips.
"Fine..."
A big smile appered on Shoko's face, "Finally! Let's get ready then" she pulls the covers down and pulls you up.
And for the first time in a while, you smiled.
︾︾︾
Music and laughter echoed throughout the frat house as students squeezed past eachother with red cups in their hands. Music blasted throughout the place, so loud you could barely hear yourself think.
You held onto Shoko's hand tightly as you both walk through the hallway of people.
"I'm gonna grab us a drink. I'll be back okay?" she shouted over the music.
You nodded before she disappeared into the crowd. As you stand there alone, you look around the place. Students danced in the living room while a huge group of people crowded over the kitchen, watching a game of beer pong.
Gojo stood on the table laughing and yelling at everyone while Geto laughed from below.
You gaze past them, then it stopped. Your heart dropped as you saw the scene infront of you.
Choso stood in the middle of the room, laughing with a group of people gathered around him.
Then you noticed her, a blonde long haired girl standing beside him with her arm wrapped around his. It was Yuki, the girl that was rumored to have an obvious crush on your boyfriend.
She was laughing and smiling, leaning against him comfortably as she spoke with everyone around them.
The room around you seem to disappear as the music and laughter muffled.
You stared at him, waiting for him to push her away. But he didn't, he just stood there without knowing that your seeing everything.
Your chest tightened as your mind starts going through a million possibilities. Maybe... Just maybe...
Then suddenly, his head turned, meeting your eyes.
His smile disappeared and eyes widened as he met your eyes.
"What...?"
Yuki followed his gaze before quickly letting go of his arm.
"W-wait... " but you had already turned around, making your way to the exit.
"Wait!" he shouted, pushing through the crowd to chase after you.
You make your way to the exit, pushing through everyone in your way. The music slowly dying down as the cool nights breeze hits you.
Footsteps followed close behind before a gentle hand wrapped around your wrist.
"Please... just listen to me."
You stopped, slowly pulling your wrist from his grasp before turning to face him. His breathing was uneven from running after you, panic written all over his face.
"It's not what you think" he said quickly. "Yuki just grabbed onto me. I didn't know she was going to..."
Before he could finish, your hand struck his cheek. The sharp sound echoed through the quiet street, leaving both of you frozen.
Choso stared at you in shock, his hand slowly lifting to the side of his face while your own trembled from what you'd just done.
"I trusted you" you whispered, your voice beginning to crack. "You said you were busy... you said you had band meeting."
Choso's eyes softened. "I know... and I'm sorry"
"You don't get it" you interrupted, shaking your head. "Every time you cancelled, I told myself it was okay because you were chasing your dream. I kept thinking that once the talent show was over, everything would go back to normal."
A tear rolled down your cheek before another quickly followed. "But it didn't"
"You forgot our date, you forgot about me after the show..." You let out a shaky breath, struggling to hold yourself together. "And now I walk into a party and see another girl wrapped around you while you didn't even notice I was there"
"I wasn't with her" Choso said desperately. "I swear, I wasn't"
"This isn't about Yuki" you said quietly.
Silence settled between the two of you as your tears continued to fall.
"It's about us. It's about how I don't even feel like your girlfriend anymore"
You wiped at your face, letting out a small laugh that sounded more broken than amused. "I'm so tired of waiting for you, Choso"
He took a cautious step closer, reaching out as if to comfort you. "I'm going to fix this. I promise"
You slapped his hand away before it could touch you.
"No."
Your voice was barely above a whisper. "I gave you so many chances"
Another tear slipped down your cheek as you looked at him one last time.
"...We're done"
For the first time, Choso didn't know what to say.
He could only stand there, watching as you turned around and walked away, realizing far too late that the person who had always waited for him... had finally stopped.

you knew what you were getting yourself into; dating the frat boy who was known for partying every night, drinking himself into a coma.
but the Satoru you see couldn't be any more different. he was sweet, caring, gentle, and a good listener.
but you were the exact opposite of him; you loved staying home and being as anti-social as you could possibly be.
you didn't know it was possible for you to be jealous. jealous of the women who were too close to your boyfriend, jealous of the women that looked at him. you wanted him all to yourself.
you've tried going to countless parties with him to stake your claim, but you hated every second of it. the screaming, the deafening music that vibrated through your skin, and the mix of weed and alcohol on everyone's breath.
you tried. you really tried to like it. you've tried drowning yourself in alcohol, hoping it would magically make you a party girl, but of course it didn't work; it only made you 10x more anxious.
you trust your boyfriend, but you didn't trust the people there. it wasn't just the women all over your man, you've seen men shooting their shot too. was this insecure? yes. it absolutely was.
you couldn't help but compare yourself to these beautiful people. you were gorgeous but you felt plain. they were everything you weren't. they felt miles closer to Satoru than you ever could be.
you wouldn't go to bed until you received a "just got home, babe" text from Satoru. you made sure to check his frat's page, itching to see a glimpse of Satoru's night.
God, you felt insane. you hated parties, you didn't want to change Satoru, and you felt like a creep being the first viewer on some random's Instagram story.
so, you did the only thing you could think of; break up with your boyfriend. you sent a quick text to him, saying that you needed to talk to him.
you're pacing back and forth in your small living room, hands clammy with sweat, and you feel as if you'll throw up all over your floor; filled with anxiety.
he'll be here any second.
knock knock knock.
you open the door and you're tackled by your boyfriend; hugging you with all his might.
"i missed you, honey." he's peppering light kisses all over you; your face, your neck, your hands and your shoulder blades. you soak in the affection, you missed him so much.
"w-wait we need to talk." you gently push him off. he frowns before taking a seat on your desk chair. he's manspreading on your chair with his hands holding each other.
"i want to break up."
he stands up and holds your face in his large hands; his rings are cold against your warm face, and his face holds so much confusion.
"talk to me, baby. what brought this on?"
"i-i think we should just break up. no reason." you try to escape from his grasp but it's impossible.
"i'm not leaving 'till you tell me what's going on. you aren't leaving me." he sternly says.
"i just feel like there's someone out there that's better for you. we're too different."
"did someone say anything to you?"
"no. no. i just want you to find someone better."
"there's no one out there that's better than you, honey." he coos.
"really? not one of those girls that are all over you at those parties?" you scoff.
"what girls?"
"stop playing dumb, you know exactly what i'm talking about."
he lifts you up and you instinctively wrap your legs tightly around his waist. he carries you to your small twin bed and throws you on top of it. he climbs on top of you, making the most out of your small bed.
"why didn't you tell me?"
"i don't want to force you to stop something you enjoy. i knew you were a big party person before we got together." you pause for a second; suddenly feeling nervous under his stare. "it's my fault, really." you continue.
"so, you regret me?" he asks.
"NO. no. i could never regret you. i-i just don't want to be someone you regret being with, you know?"
he stares at you for a minute; deciding what his next words are.
"you could never be someone i regret loving." he leans in and captures your lips onto his. you hesitantly kiss back; grabbing his hair while small moans escape from both of your lips.
"i'm all yours, baby. i'll do anything you want me to do, as long as you keep me." his voice slightly whiny and out of breath. it's your turn to grab his face with your hands and you see his eyes well up with tears.
"please. please don't leave me." pressing his forehead against yours.
"i don't want to become the girlfriend that controls you. i want you to enjoy the things you like doing without having to carry my feelings."
he perks up, acting like the greatest idea popped up in his head.
"i'll stop going to those things!"
"baby, no. i can't do that to you."
"i want to. there isn't anything i want more than you."
"i'm sorry. I should've known." he continues.
"i'm sorry too. I should've told you how i felt; you can't read my mind."
you guys share a gentle kiss that slowly turns into a messy, hungry one.
one thing about Satoru is that he is one messy kisser. his tongue explores your mouth as if it's his first time there and his hands are doing the same with your body.
his saliva mixes with yours, acting like a starved man. a mix of your saliva and his is the one thing that connects you two as you pull away.
"touch me, Satoru. please?"
he reaches down your shorts, and he groans at how wet you are. his middle finger rubs your clit in small circular motions. you love how gentle he is with you; no matter the circumstances.
his mouth clumsily presses wet kisses on your neck as he plays with your pussy.
"you're so wet, baby. 's all for me?"
"a-all for you, 'toru. all for you." you cry. the combination of his mouth and fingers giving you the perfect amount of stimulation.
"then why were you gonna leave me? huh?" his fingers move faster at the thought of you leaving him.
"i'm sorry, a-AH, Satoru."
he pulls away but before you can complain, you hear him fumbling with his belt. you watch your boyfriend strip naked, leaving nothing on. you quickly take your clothing off; throwing it somewhere in your room.
"god, you're beautiful. i can't believe you were gonna leave me." he buries his head under your chin, biting harshly on your skin.
"i-i said i'm sorry."
"i know, love. i just hate the thought of you leaving me."
he's rubbing his cock against your slick folds; you're so close to him but you want need to be closer.
"please fuck me, Satoru. please—AH."
Satoru doesn't let you finish before shoving his entire length inside you. the stretch is painful but so, so good. your back is arching off the bed while you adjust to him.
Satoru brings you into his arms; a bear hug.
"c-can you feel that? all for you, baby. j-just for you. i'm all yours, there's no one else but you." he rambles.
you're moving before he is. you move your hips back and forth, drowning in the pleasure. you feel him shivering under your movements, but he doesn't stop you; he lets you take full control.
he falls back onto his calves so you're on top of him, still having you in a bear hug.
"fuuck, you feel so good around me. so warm and wet." he whimpers right in your ear, making sure he tells you how good you make him feel. his arms fall to your hips, assisting your movements. you start bouncing up and down carelessly.
"n-no more parties, mkay? you'll stay right here, with me." you say greedily.
"yes, yes, yes, yes." he chants. "i'll do anything for you. 'm all yours, sweetheart."
"yeah? you'll stay here with me? what a good boy you are." you praise.
he lets go of your hips, letting you fall back on the mattress but he's on top of you again, wasting no time.
"i'm your good boy. t-tell me how good i am for you, please." he begs while he thrusts inside of you, his pace slow to ensure you feel all of him.
"c'mon, tell me how good i am to you, baby." he mocks. he knows you're unable to form a thought.
"fuuck, you feel so good, so perfect for me. only me."
"you're so good to me, Satoru. you're—AH all mine." you feel drunk; slurring your words.
"i'm gonna fill you up, 'kay? i'm all yours, just for you, you own me."
"you're all mine, 'toru."
you come at the same time. he's whimpering in your ear; saying words you both can't understand. your entire body shakes under his while you caress your boyfriend's head while he fills you up.
before you drift off to sleep, you hear him say he's all yours and you're all his.
can't believe you ever thought to leave him!

ꜱʏɴᴏᴘꜱɪꜱ: covering Gojo’s eyes with your hands when the Six Eyes overwhelms him.
Fluff! Gojo gets overstimulated from the Six Eyes.
ᴡᴏʀᴅ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛ: 1k words
It was painfully obvious whenever Satoru was internally functioning at a rate of millions per second.
He’d lose his loudness, opting for a tight purse of his lips or an infinite string of sighs. He’d stare at nothing in particular yet would carry a deep furrow in his brows as if something ardently bothered him.
Bearing the Six Eyes was a double edged sword. On one hand, it grants complete mastery of cursed energy from the smallest speck to the greatest scale.
However, because of such precision, it became a potent poison when it was nothing but a visual mess that evoked a whole-body reaction. The neverending high-speed influx of information rushes in without warning with each blink.
On a particularly loose day, you managed to squeeze in a visit to Jujutsu High into your schedule.
Like usual, Satoru had clung onto you and yapped your ear off while his students—who were used to him by now—were training within the grounds.
He was a man who didn’t run out of words or smiles.
Until he did.
When breaktime came, the trio skipped off to one of the vending machines on the premises, finally able to shake off the ache in their joints from the training.
You and Satoru perched upon an obsolete bench shadowed by the thick leaves of the overlooking tree behind.
Gaps through the green allowed for dapples of light to fall onto Satoru’s uncharacteristically silent demeanor. The gentle glow traced along his flat expression—reflecting the dullness in his stare.
“Baby, are you okay? You seem quiet today.” You asked, carrying a gentle lilt to your concern. Your brows knitted together.
He doesn’t turn to you as he answers, “I’m good, sweets.”
Like hell he was.
You didn’t want to pry. You knew how he was.
But that didn’t mean you wouldn’t try to figure out through other means.
As you carefully beheld him, you didn’t fail to notice the slight shake of his eyes behind the glasses and the uncomfortable breaths wheezing from his mouth he tried to hide.
From the way his shoulders housed taut coils of muscle, foot tapping on the grass intermittently, and how cold sweat began to bead at the back of his neck…
Satoru was getting overwhelmed.
Shuffling softly, you stood up.
You reached towards him and gently pulled his glasses off.
Satoru’s attention immediately locks onto you. His eyes dart towards you, “Sweetheart, what are y—“
An immediate flash of visual overload floods his senses, twisting the ever-present dagger stuck in his lungs. A torrent of images overcame him: cursed energy of three people at 9 o clock, the grazing brush of breeze on his neck, the rustling of ants in the grass nearby.
The corners of his eyes strained, searing a painful burn into his scleras. His hands gripped onto his knees as the familiar churn in his gut grew from the onslaught of nausea.
Then, pitch-black. Suddenly, his world turns dark.
Despite being shrouded in a void, he could sense your cursed energy behind him.
He could feel the warmth of your body behind him, pressed against his back. The aroma of you engulfing him in an embrace.
He lifted his fingers to touch what had obscured his vision. The pads of it brushed against something unmistakably soft—your skin.
Then he traced blindly, from your knuckles down to your wrists.
So that’s what it was.
Your palms managed to dampen what had been stressing him the whole day.
Before he knew it, his shoulders had slouched and his entire frame melted onto you.
“Better?” You asked, voice hovering just above the top of his head.
Satoru lets out a sigh, one that spoke of relief.
You always knew. You somehow always knew.
What sweet solace you were, he thought.
“Thank you, baby.” He murmurs. His head tipped back and rested against your chest.
The appreciative smile on his face gave way to his muscles beginning to sink into you. Similarly, the sight of his growing relief sparked the same feeling in you.
A tender smile appeared on your face.
“Of course, Toru. You can always tell me these things.” You pressed a gentle kiss on his forehead.
He tilts his head back further, bangs parting in a silent request.
“Forgive me for using my hands, by the way. I couldn’t think of anything else.” You chuckled, brushing away the strands on his forehead with your thumbs.
He hums, deep and throaty, as he nestled into you, “This is better anyways.”
“Maybe I should just carry you around like a backpack and have you be my glasses from now on.”
Aaand there it was. That playful cadence in his tone.
“I think you’re feeling better now because you’re starting to say bizarre things.” You began to act as if you were removing your palms from him.
A light laugh leaves him at the same time he clamps his hands over yours, holding them in place over his eyes.
His hands were soft despite the callouses. They were warm and large—drowning your smaller ones underneath his palms.
“Bizarre? I think it’s completely feasible.” He teases with his usual coy tone.
You snort, “You’re impossible, Toru.”
Regardless, you placed another kiss on his forehead. The corners of his mouth quirk upwards.
“Would you like to try?” He smirks, smile way brighter than a few moments ago.
“No thanks.”
“It’ll be fun,” His words carried a gentleness to them, “You’ll be my glasses and I’ll be your legs.”
“Fair trade, hm?” He muses, growing softer by the second.
You rolled your eyes playfully, “Just go to sleep, Toru.”
“Okay, boss lady~” He remarks and leans against you. Knowing him, it would probably be another 30 minutes before he could actually fall asleep, but you knew he would—because it was obvious how taxing these episodes could get.
By the time Gojo’s three students came back, they found you sitting beside him.
His broad shoulders were tilted down as his face buried into the crook of your neck like a man needing your touch to breathe. Your hand covered the exposed parts of his eyes while the other was intertwined with his fingers tightly conjoined.
And the most surprising part?
He was fast asleep in your arms.
Satoru never fell asleep unless it was with you.
A/N: Hiya! Sorry for being gone. Exams got in the way (fun fact: im a med student) and I will probably be more inactive from now on but if i am able, I will do my best to supply more fics! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ Also, I can’t tell if i like the small text format better or not haha

𖦹 boyfriend!megumi comes home to his sweetheart of a girlfriend, where they have their first serious argument, despite megumi having plans to introduce her to tsumiki the following day. read more of these two here!
warnings: angst to comfort, fluff, sweet reader, tsumiki is okay for this one :), there’s a small format including a chat fic, cheesy ass nicknames.. not proofread
your heart is hammering against your ribs, knees tucked close to your chest as you watch the scariest movie you think you’ve ever seen. tremors.
to others it may not be so scary, but to you it is. and you made the stupid decision to watch it while megumi is performing a grade two exorcism farrrr from the apartment.
the third—maybe fourth jumpscare pops up and you immediately switch the tv application to youtube. clicking on a long video and calling it a day.
megumi’s been gone for hours and you can only worry so much as his girlfriend.. before impulsively texting his phone.
you: haii gumi :) coming home soon? let me know!
gumi bear ❤︎ : almost.
a selfie follows his original curt reply, a photo of him eating the packed bento box filled with sushi and baked sweets you placed in his lunch bag.
you: what a cutie :3 get home safe, love you babe.
gumi bear ❤︎ : mhm. love you.
you send a simple heart emoji and place your phone down beside you. the youtube video plays in the background but you can’t pay attention any more.
even though megumi is eating your baked sweets and sushi, he’ll most likely still be hungry after his mission. especially since he has an early morning lecture tomorrow.
so you decide to cook him a meal.
the refrigerator light illuminates familiar ingredients. chicken thighs, daikon, carrots. a bundle of green onions and rice, perfection.
nikujaga. one of the first meals you’d learned because megumi had quietly admitted he liked it. he hadn’t made a big deal out of it, merely mentioning once that tsumiki used to cook something similar.
that had been all the motivation you needed.
the apartment fills with the comforting sounds of a happy home, rice washing beneath cool water, vegetables thumping against the cutting board. the gentle hiss as oil warming in the pan.
you hum absentmindedly, stirring soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and dashi—with extra kelp—into the shimmering pot. steam fogs in your face, carrying the warm scent through the apartment until even the lingering unease from the horror movie disappears.
a small rustle of.. fabric?
no. you continue cooking, but the sound only comes again, you lunge for the spatula and whip around. “who’s there?”
you try to sound intimidating but it comes out small.
the door handle rattles loudly and your breathing intensifies, you nearly scream.
“i’m home.” megumi steps inside, shoes barely off before you sprint across the apartment.
he had just enough time to blink before you collided into him, wrapping both arms around his waist, giggling like a fool.
silence sways around the both of you for a while, megumi finally melts into your hold on him, inhaling the scent of your shampoo.
“movie?” he guesses flatly, taking one step back to look at you.
“..maybe.”
“you watched another horror movie.”
you bite your lip, fight a smile, and nod carefully.
he sighs, setting his bag down before resting one tired hand on your head. “i told you not to watch those alone.”
“i forget that they’re scary!”
“hmm..” he hums.
“go wash up. i cleaned the bathroom today!”
“did you?”
“mhm! i’ll plate your food and then we can watch a good movie, how does that sound? or we could start a new serie, or-”
his lips find yours in the utmost careful and soft way, his long fingers curl in your hair, his other hand pulling you in by your waist.
“mm, gumi..” you giggle softly against his mouth, eyes closing, a silent thanks that he came home safe.
“join me?” he whispers.
“i’m cooking..”
megumi’s gaze flicks past your shoulder towards the stove. the pot simmers gently, steam curling lazily towards the ceiling.
“right.”
you place a soft kiss to his jaw, then three more on his cheek. his thumb brushes under your eye, lingering for a second longer than necessary.
“you’ll burn it, won’t you?” he says patronizingly.
“i won’t,” you protest automatically.
he turns away just like that and walks to the bathroom, the faintest bit of amusement following him down the hallway. he is immediately met with a warm bath you’d already prepared just seconds before he arrived.
you plate his nikujaga, along with a side of rice with salmon.
megumi emerges from the bathroom with sopping wet, messy hair and black sweatpants, a white towel swung over his shoulder as he finishes up moisturizing his upper body.
you smile big at him, hands reaching out for his immediately. “you look so clean and handsome now, baby.”
he nods once and kisses your cheek, sitting down, but you know he loves when you compliment him because of the soft pink touching his ear shells.
you watch him eat, the way he savors each bite with closed eyes.. or maybe he’s just tired but you tried your best to perfect his meal the way his sister used to.
“what?” he says, taking another bite of the chicken cubes you knew he preferred.
“nothiniig..” you smile, and that’s how he knows you’re not just looking at him for no reason.
“what is it, y/n?”
“seriously, it’s nothing!” your voice raises slightly in that squeaky way that always hands you over.
“y/n.”
“is it good?!” you exclaim, eyes shut as if preparing for the worst.
megumi stares at you for what feels like eternity, then he snorts.
“whaaat?” you pout, crossing your arms tight around your chest.
“it’s good.” he nods, taking another bite.
“just good? is it as good as your sisters? or better?” you smile, inching closer to his face.
megumi freezes immediately. spoon slipping out of his fingers and onto the table.
“gumi? what is—”
“why are you asking that?” his voice is sharp as if your words hit a raw nerve.
the edge in it catches you completely off guard that your whole smile disappears, you sit back in your chair.
“i.. hm?” for a second you don’t know what happened. “you.. i was just asking, baby.”
megumi’s jaw tightens. “no. why are you asking that?”
the question comes out slower this time, he’s speaking to you like you’re stupid, the way he knows you dislike, the talking manner that people use when they think that just because you’re sweet and outgoing, you can’t understand a simple argument.
but you don’t say that, of course. you love megumi too much to argue with him.
it’s like he’s giving you an opportunity to explain yourself but you just can’t. your thoughts scatter the moment you hear how upset he really sounds.
“i didn’t mean-”
“do you want me to compare you?”
you stare at him with slightly widened eyes. “what?”
“you and tsumiki.”
your stomach drops. “no! no, megumi!”
“you just asked me who’s was better.”
you hadn’t expected him to sound that way, not after he’d kissed you at the door, not after he blushed—however faintly— when you’d complimented him.
“i know i asked, but that’s not what i.. i was just wondering if-”
“if it’s better than tsumikis?”
you’re quiet, then your lips part. “no.”
“no?”
“i mean, that’s not..”
he lets out a slow breath. “don’t compare yourself to her.”
your eyebrows knit together in confusion. “compare?”
“my sister. she cooked for me. you cooked for me. then you asked who’s was better. it isn’t something to compare.”
you shake your head instinctively. “but it’s not what i was trying-”
“don’t try to compete with her.”
“i’m not.”
“you are.”
“i’m not..” your voice is already smaller. “i wasnt trying to..”
“then why ask?”
the question lands harder the second time. you open your mouth but nothing comes out, and not because you don’t have an answer, but because it all of the sudden feels stupid.
embarrassing, even.. to admit that you spent weeks practicing. to admit you’d memorized one passing comment he made months ago.
to admit you’d wanted tonight to feel comforting because tomorrow he was finally taking you to meet tsumiki.
“i.. because well,”
megumi waits, but the silence only stretches.
“forget it.” he murmurs.
“no!”
“i’m not going to sit here and argue with you about why i won’t compare the people i love.”
his words sting. “i know. i understand.”
“i don’t think you do.”
“i do.”
“no.” he stands abruptly, chair scraping loudly against the floor. “you asked me to choose.”
“no, megumi i didn’t! baby..”
“you asked me whose was better.”
“i wasn’t asking-”
“what else am i supposed to think?”
your throat tightens. he’s usually patient. he usually allows you to finish your sentences and he waits until you’re done speaking. this time he’s different because you’ve hit a nerve.
“i promise—“
“you asked.”
you just stop talking. your explanation never gets farther than two words, but megumi mistakes your silence for guilt. he rubs a tired hand over his face. “i’m exhausted.”
“i know.”
“i’ve been gone all day.”
you nod, eyes stinging despite your attempts to hold yourself together.
“i come home. i eat dinner. and somehow were talking about whether your cooking is better than tsumikis.” his voice finally rises. “i dont. want to do that.”
a tear slips down your cheek, you wipe it away so quickly you hope he didn’t notice. but he notices, of course he notices. but he’s too frustrated to stop.
“maybe meeting tsumiki isn’t a good idea.”
your head snaps up. “what?..”
“if this is how you’re thinking.”
“what?” you plead, lip trembling.
“i don’t think tomorrow is a good time.”
your face goes completely white at that. “you’re cancelling?”
“i said maybe, y/n”
“but..”
you’d been excited for weeks, he knows. you’ve been nervous, planning your outfit, buying flowers, baking cookies because you wanted to make a good first impression.
“i..” you can’t speak, even though hes waiting. your chest hurts too much.
“forget it.” he looks at his bowl, at the remaining nikujaga. then says the one thing he'll hate himself for later. “it wasn't even that good.”
silence follows, because now your heart is shattered.
“the broth is too rich, the vegetables are overcooked. it doesn’t taste anything like hers.” lies on top of lies. the last one was the biggest lie of all, because the very first bite had reminded him of home.
not because it tasted identical, but because someone who loves him made it with the same quiet care. he knows hes lying the moment the words leave his mouth.
he sees it in your face, not anger or disbelief, just heartbreak. you don’t defend yourself, you don’t tell him he emptied the bowl, you don’t point out he'd gone back for another portion before you’d asked.
you simply nod once. “okay.” it comes out a little more than a whisper, you carefully walk over to the side of the table that he sat in, and pick up the bowl with both hands. “i’ll just put this away.”
you scrape the leftovers into a container, your hands tremble so badly the lid slips from your fingers once. so you pick it up, dry the counter without ever looking at him or saying a word.
megumi stands in the middle of the kitchen, waiting for you to argue, to explain yourself, or to tell him he’s wrong. but instead, you say nothing. because that’s who you are.
you never fight, you never yell back, you always assume you’ve done something wrong first, and he knows that more than anyone, still.. he lets you stand there in silence.
“i’m going to bed.” his voice is flat now. he doesn’t wait for an answer, just walks past you.. past the flowers you’d arranged earlier, past the little dessert you’d baked just for him..
past his woman who had spent all evening waiting for him to come home.
the bedroom door closes softly down the hall and it somehow sounds louder than a slam.
you remain in the kitchen, the apartment unbearably quiet after the argument. the nikujaga sits in the refrigerator, untouched. you stare at the sink until your vision blurs.
you sit and pull your knees to your chest just like you had when you were watching the movie, except this time there’s no scary monster on the television.
there’s just an ache in your chest. you weren’t trying to compare, you wanted tomorrow to feel special. another sob escapes you before you can stop it.
megumi said tsumiki used to make it, so you thought maybe it’d give him a taste of home before he went to see her.
megumi is sitting across the hallway on the opposite side of the bedroom door, eyes fixed on the floor.. every cruel sentence replaying in his head.
it wasn’t even that good
he squeezes his eyes shut. he can still taste the broth. he still remembers how perfectly you cut the chicken. how you’d remembered he prefers less potato without him ever reminding you.
his stomach twists because he knows exactly what happened, he’d never actually let you explain, and every time you tried to speak, he spoke over you.
and despite knowing you were the kind of person who apologized when someone else stepped on your foot, he’d raised his voice anyway.
the apartment stays silent for the rest of the night.
you compose yourself, dry your cheeks on your sleeve, and stand on shaky legs.
you take a deep breath, your feet carrying you down the hallway almost hesitantly. the bedroom door is already half open, you push it gently.
megumi is sitting on the edge of the bed, his damp hair has almost dried, he’s staring down at an open textbook.
he doesn’t even turn when you come in.
“megs?..”
nothing. you close the door quietly behind you.
“i.. im sorry if i upset you.” your fingers twist together behind your back.
he turns a page, and not because he’s reading, because he doesn’t know what else to do.
“i really didn’t mean to.”
silence follows. you wait and he says nothing. your chest tightens all over again as you step forward. “can i explain?”
his eyes stay on the page, but his hands have stopped moving. “i’m tired.” his voice is flat and not angry anymore but that hurts worse.
“i know. but i really want you to know i wasn’t trying to-”
“i said im tired.”
the interruption is quiet but final. you stop talking immediately and stand there awkwardly for another few seconds waiting, in hopes that he’ll look up, but he doesn’t.
instead he reaches over and switches off the lamp on his side of the bed. the room grows dim, you shift awkwardly on your feet.
“goodnight.” he says. no cheesy nickname, no request for you to come closer, nothing.
you swallow around the lump in your throat. “night..” you disappear the bathroom to wash your face.
by the time you come back, he’s already lying on his side facing the wall, the blanket pulled to his shoulder. usually, there isn’t a single night where you don’t end up tucked against his chest.
usually he reaches for you before you even have the chance to lay in bed.
tonight there are inches between you. they feel like miles.
you carefully slide beneath the blanket without making too much noise, trying not to disturb him. trying not to cry again. “megumi?”
no answer.
you wonder if he’s fallen asleep. “i love you” the words come out quietly, small. like maybe saying them too loudly would make things worse.
a long silence follows. so long you almost think he isn’t gonna answer.
until he does.
“mm.” just that of a sleepy hum, no i love you back, no turning toward you and burrying his face in your neck.
you bite the inside of your cheek so hard it hurts. “okay.” you roll onto your own side of the bed, facing away from him now.
your shoulders begin to shake almost immediately.
you shove the edge of the blanket against your mouth to muffle the sound. you don’t want him to hear you crying, and you’re sure he doesn’t wanna hear it either.
especially after he’s made it so obvious that he wants to be alone.
behind you, megumi’s eyes are still open. he heard every tiny hitch in your breathing, every shaky inhale, every muffled sob you tried so desperately to hide.
his hand twitches beneath the blanket. every instinct tells him to reach for you, to pull you against him.. to apologize. instead, he stays still. punishing both of you.
because if he reaches for you he knows he’ll break, and if he breaks before understanding why your question hurt him so much, he’s afraid he’ll only end up saying the wrong things again.
so the room remains silent as one of your cries quietly into a pillow and the other stares into the darkness.
neither of you gets any sleep.
morning comes far too soon. the apartment is still washed in the pale blue light before sunrise when megumi’s alarm vibrates on the nightstand.
the alarm he’d set because you both would have to leave early if you wanted to see tsumiki.
he opens his eyes immediately. for one, brief, disorienting second, he forgets. then he hears it.
soft, slow breathing from the other side of the bed.
his chest tightens. you’d cried yourself to sleep, and even now, curled up into a little ball beneath the blankets, your eyelashes are still faintly clumped together.
a dried tear stains the sleeve of his hoodie you’d refused to take off.
megumi shuts his eyes for a moment.
he wants to wake you, wants to apologize, he wants to ask you what you were trying to say.. but today’s the day, the day he’d promised tsumiki he’d visit.
he wasn’t going to miss this one.
quietly, he skips out of bed. the mattress barely shifts, so you don’t stir.
the apartment is eerily silent as megumi showers, then gets dressed in a plain black sweater and dark pants. he dries his hair without making much noise, careful not to wake you.
every movement feels strangely mechanical because you’re not by his side helping him while telling an insane story.
he packs the flowers you two picked out just two days ago. you’d still been laughing then.
you spent nearly twenty minutes insisting that white lilies looked ‘too serious’ so he’d secretly bought the pale pink carnations you liked instead.
they’re sitting on the counter now wrapped neatly in brown paper, waiting. his eyes linger on them.
the refrigerator hums softly, he opens it to grab a bottle of water. his gaze lands on the container of nikujaga and your neat little label on the lid.
‘for gumi’ with a cute drawn heart beside his nickname.
his stomach twists. you label everything sweetly, even after an argument. he reaches for the container but stops, he doesn’t think he deserves to eat it after what he said last night.
he brews coffee quietly and pours himself a cup without ever drinking it. just stares blankly into the dark liquid.
his phone buzzes.
tsumiki ❤︎: don’t be late :)
a tiny smile almost appears on megumi’s face. he types back. ‘leaving soon.’
megumi glances inside the bedroom door where he thinks you’re sleeping. your face is buried in the pillow, one hand tucked beneath your cheek.
he steps inside anyway.
the morning light spills across your face, your eyes look swollen even in sleep.. the sight makes something in him ache. he kneels beside the bed for a long moment and just watches you breathe.
his hand lifts, hovering over your hair. he wants to smooth it back and comfort you, wants to kiss your forehead like he always does before leaving.
instead he lets his hand fall back to his side and whispers. “i’m leaving. i’ll be back tonight.”
he nods to himself as though you’d answered and turns to leave.
“gumi?”
his steps stop immediately. your voice is hoarse, small.
“i thought you already left.” you swallow.
“i was about to. need anything?”
you shake your head, a long silence follows. “it’s okay.”
megumi waits with a part of him hoping you’ll stop him and ask to come, even though he’d never show it.. he was just as excited as you were.
you carefully pull the blanket a little higher over your shoulder. “drive safely.”
he nods once. “you too.” the sentence slips out automatically, you almost smile.
“i’m not going anywhere.”
his hands tighten around his keys. “riight.”
neither of you knows how to bridge the silence that leaves you with.
“i’ll see you later.” he says.
“mhm.”
he leaves, the apartment door clicking shut. you don’t move for several minutes, you simply stare at the wall where the morning lights slowly creeps higher.
only after you're certain he’s gone do you roll onto your back, the empty space beside you is already cold. after everything, you’re glad. you hope tsumiki has a good day and you hope megumi smiles.
you hope he gets home safely.
and then, as your gaze falls on the outfit you’d carefully laid out the night before—the one you’d planned to wear to meet his sister for the first time—your smile finally disappears.
you pull the blanket over your face. “maybe another time.”
you remain in bed for another few minutes, eventually forcing yourself up and brushing your teeth. the hoodie you’d slept in smells faintly like megumi. that almost makes you cry again.
he’s gone to see tsumiki and you’re not going anymore.
there isn’t much point in sitting around crying. you’d clean the apartment, maybe bake something, maybe..
the front door unlocks, your head snaps towards the hallway. “megumi?”
“forgot my keys.” his voice is as even as ever.
you blink. “.. you forgot?”
“i forgot my keys.” he steps inside, slipping his shoes back off. his apartment key twirls once around his finger.
you stare at it. “those keys?”
megumi looks down and pockets them without another word. “i forgot something else.”
you almost giggle despite yourself. “you don’t even know what you forgot.”
“i’ll figure it out.”
“what a liar.”
the corner of his mouth twitches, barely.. but it’s the closest thing you’ve seen to a smile in the last twenty something hours.
he looks at you properly for the first time that morning. your oversized hoodie, bare feet, puffy eyes. you’d definitely been crying even after he left.
his chest tightens and he steps forward to stand in front of you, smooths back your hair and kisses your lips. he pulls back and his eyes don’t leave yours. “go get dressed.”
your smile fades. “why?”
“we’re leaving in twenty minutes.”
you stare directly at him, his lips, his eyes.. “leaving?”
“mm.”
“where?”
he squeezes your hip. “to see tsumiki.”
your eyes widen immediately. “but i - you said maybe i shouldn’t meet her!”
“i know what i said, i was wrong.”
you simply stare at him, unmoving.
“go get dressed.”
“i.. are you sure?”
“i’m sure.”
“but yesterday you were really upset and you said things and i..”
“i know. i regret most of it.”
you search his face, looking for hesitation, you don’t find any. “okay.” you whisper it like you’re afraid changing your mind might make it him change his.
you disappear into the bedroom and jump around now that you’re alone, excited despite everything.
you stand infront of the closet for nearly five minutes. every outfit suddenly feels wrong. too dressy, too casual, too bright.. too plain.
you eventually pull out the pretty dress and cream cardigan you’d bought specifically for today. the one you’d shown megumi three different times asking if tsumiki would like it.
your fingers hesitate over the buttons.
a soft knock sounds at the door. “can i come in?”
you blink. “yeah.”
the door opens and megumi steps inside, you.. still in your underwear and the pile of rejected clothes covering half the bed. “you’ve been standing here this whole time.”
“i don’t know what to wear.”
“you already picked something.”
“i don’t know if she’ll like it anymore.”
his brows pull together. “why wouldn’t she?”
you don’t answer, he understands anyway.
it’s because of yesterday. because somewhere in your mind, you’ve convinced yourself that tsumiki won’t like you because of him.
megumi walks over, without a word, he picks up the dress. he hands it to you and lets you put it on, then he grabs the cardigan.
“arms.”
“hm?”
“put your arms out.”
you obey automatically, he carefully slides the sleeves over your hands, pulls the cardigan over your shoulders, then kneels infront of you.
your heart skips. “megumi.”
he starts fastening each tiny button. his fingers are so gentle. “i’m sorry.” the words are so quiet you almost think you imagined them. “i shouldn’t have spoken to you like that.”
you swallow.
“i know saying sorry doesn’t fix it.”
“it doesn’t.”
“i know.” he finishes the last button and smooths the fabric where it pools near your waist. “there.”
he sits you down and puts on your frill-edge, cream socks for you, slipping your pretty flats on right after.
your eyes sting again.
“don’t cry.”
“i’m trying not to!”
the drive is quiet at first, tokyo drifts past outside the window.
traffic is light, neither of you turns the radio on. your hands sit folded neatly in your lap. megumi glances at them twice before finally reaching over at a red light.
his hand settles over yours tentatively. like he isn’t sure he’s earned it.
you look down, then quietly turn your hand over so your fingers lace together. his grip tightens.
“i lied about the nikujaga. it was good, baby.”
you don’t answer, you just look at him as he drives.
“it was really good.” he says.
you almost smile, but you decide against giving him the glory of forgiveness just yet.
“i finished almost all of it before you asked.”
“you also closed your eyes after the first bite. you only do that when you like something.”
megumi sighs softly. “you notice everything.”
“i notice you.”
his throat tightens. “i shouldn’t have said any of that bullshit.”
“you were tired.”
“i was being cruel. i decided what you meant before you could finish speaking because i was afraid i’d hear something i didn’t want to. i was cruel.”
“a little bit.”
“i was more than a little, bunny.”
you stay quiet as he continues.
“i kept interrupting you, i didn’t let you explain, and then i threatened to stop you from meeting tsumiki.”
you look out the window. “i was really looking forward to today.”
“i know.”
“i bought flowers and baked cookies and figured out what kind of tea she likes-”
megumi actually looks away from the road for half a second. “you what?”
“just in case.. you know? if she ever came over, i’d already know!” you smile sheepishly.
his chest aches, because he’s starting to understand that this wasn’t just about dinner. you’d been quietly preparing to become part of his family in all the little ways that mattered to you.
not by replacing anyone, just by hoping there’d be room for you, too.
after another stretch of silence, he speaks again. “will you tell me now? what you were trying to say yesterday?”
you take a slow breath and glance at him. your thumb brushes lightly against the back of his hand. “i wanted your dinner to taste like home.”
he doesn’t interrupt this time. he simply listens.
before you know it, you and megumi are parked outside of tsumiki's door. you haven’t realized because you’re too busy ranting about something that happened when you were at the shopping mall.
“we’re here sweetheart.” he says, a soft interruption.
“oh my goodness! gumi i told you to let me know when we were close!”
megumi has to practically drag you to the front door.
“you let me ramble the whole drive!” you whisper yell, already fumbling with the cookie box. “i was supposed to mentally prepare.”
“i thought you were doing that.”
“i was talking about a woman who was trying to return twelve cabbages!”
megumi has to practically drag you to the front door.
“baby im not ready.”
“shh. you are.”
“how would you know if i’m ready? you’re not me, silly! unless you have like superpowers or something like you can see inside of my brain!.. which is unrealistic but it’s not impossible given that we live in a world full of—”
megumi’s hand claps over your mouth carefully.
“i can’t see in your brain. i know you’re ready because i watched you prepare yourself for one week.”
your useless complaints are muffled against his palm until he finally uncovers your mouth with a little smile.
“baby!” you yelp, but megumi interrupts you with a kiss. his tongue invades your mouth, hands cupping your pretty cheeks. “mm!”
“it’s okay. she’ll love you.” he murmurs against your lips.
“i’m ready!” you pull away and reapply your lipgloss as he just watches with those gentle eyes that tell you all you need to know.
a soft laugh can be heard from the other side of the door, then it swings open. tsumiki is already smiling before the door finishes opening.
“i was wondering how long you two would stand out here.” she says, amusement warming every word. “i could hear everything.”
your entire body goes rigid. “everything?!”
megumi clears his throat. “probably.”
your head turns so slowly toward him that it almost hurts. “you let me embarrass myself.”
“you were doing that on your own, being so loud and stuff..” he squeezes your hand, lips stretching into the tiniest smile ever.
“megumi!”
tsumiki laughs. a bright, effortless sound that instantly softens something inside of your chest. she pulls megumi in for a quick hug, rubbing his back.. it takes a hot second but megumi eventually leans into her hold, patting her back carefully.
your eyes sting immediately.
tsumiki pulls away first, and megumi’s eyes land on you as soon as he hears a sniffle. his hand instinctively moves to yours. “what’s wrong bunny?”
“it’s just so emotional, you know?!”
“i talk to tsumiki everyday, sweetheart. it’s not some kind of special reunion.” he explains softly.
“it’s not the same.” you whisper.
tsumiki melts at your small capability to hold yourself together. “so.. you’re y/n!”
you immediately bow a little too deeply, megumi’s hand shoots out to grab the back of your collar, ears red in embarrassment for you.
you rub him off and offer both the box of cookies and the bouquet of carnations. “yes! hi tsumiki! i don’t know what flavor you like but megumi said you like strawberry so i decided on strawberry but i was also gonna try matcha—”
“they’re perfect.” she smiles softly.
“.. so i added matcha powder on top.” you finish, quieter now. “you really think they’re perfect?”
“mhm. i can’t wait to try these. come inside. let’s get these flowers in a vase.”
you make celebrative little fists when she’s not looking and wink at megumi. “i thinks she accepts me.” you whisper.
megumi shakes his head and closes the door behind him, unable to fight his smile. you leap after tsumiki and help her organize the flowers into a vase.
“gumi was insisting on bringing white lilies. which wouldn’t have been so bad if they had some color, so when i told him that they’re too bland for someone he describes as charismatic and soft, i thought that something more colorful would make more sense.”
you ramble without ever looking up from the stem tips you’re snipping. only to later see both megumi and tsumiki watching you with different but fluffy expressions.
your face heats up immediately.
dinner is made, served and filled with old stories and giggles.
at home, megumi is used to washing the dishes after you eat. it’s just routine. you cook, he cleans. that doesn’t change at tsumiki’s house.
the sound of running water drifts softly from the kitchen as you and tsumiki flop down onto the couch to search for a movie.
megumi stands at the sink with his sleeves rolled up to his forearms, quietly washing the dishes despite both of you insisting he didn’t have to.
it wasn’t an argument, it was more like one of those little domestic negotiations that somehow always ended with megumi doing exactly what he’d already decided to do.
now he stands with his back to the living room, methodically rinsing teacups while pretending he can’t hear the conversation behind him.
“he’s always been like that.” tsumiki smiles
she puts her cup down and tucks her legs beneath her, settling deeper into the couch as she glances towards the kitchen.
you hug on of tsumikis throw pillows to your chest. “can i tell you how we met?”
“i was hoping you would!”
you squeal, cheeks warming. “it’s not very romantic.”
“i don’t believe you.”
“it isn’t!” you insist. “it’s actually really embarassing!”
from the kitchen, megumi quietly reaches for another plate. “it was embarrassing."
you point dramatically towards him. “see? even he agrees.”
tsumiki giggles. “..so?”
you take a long, deep breath. “okay. it was the first week of college..”
you had been late, and not a little late. the kind of late that left you apologizing to people you bumped into before you even hit them.
your tote bag bounced against your shoulder as you sprinted across campus with an iced coffee in one hand and three folders tucked between your arm.
“oh no, no!”
your professor had already sent out an email. “attendance matters”
you rounded the corner at full speed and immediately slammed into someone. coffee exploded everywhere.
silence followed, the cup hit the pavement and ice scattered across the concrete of the sidewalk. you stared, then very slowly looked up.
a man dressed entirely in black stood in front of you. coffee dripped steadily from the sleeve of his uniform jacket. his expression was completely blank.
“oh my goodness.” you gasped so loudly several nearby students turned to look. “i’m so sorry!”
without thinking, you started patting frantically at his shirt with both hands. megumi was on his way back from the gym. his headphones were pulled down around his neck, he wore a black compression shirt paired with black sweatpants that seemed just one shade off.
“i’m so, so sorry!”
your folders slipped from between your arm. megumi was looking down at you with such a blank expression you thought he’d just walk away. but he kept watching, and listening.
papers started flying everywhere. “oh nooo!” you crouched to grab them.
everything was a mess. your foot landed directly on one of the melting ice cubes and your balance disappeared instantly. megumi watched with eyes that widened by the second as you somehow managed to slip.
straight into your own spilled coffee.
you landed sitting on the pavement. there was coffee on your skirt now, on your hands, and somehow on your cheek. you licked it off and let go of your posture.
you looked up at him with the expression of someone whose soul had just left their body. “hi.. i’m having a really bad morning..”
“i noticed.” his voice was so curt and rough, sweat dripped down his forehead and neck from his previous workout session. his shirt clung to his abs and it made him look so scary but so, so good.
“..right.”
you hurried back onto your feet. “i’m y/n!”
he simply stared down at you. “you’re introducing yourself?”
“i figured if i already ruined your clothes.. and possibly your morning, i should at least tell you who did it.” you mumbled.
for the first time, he looked genuinely confused. his eyebrows pinched together ever so slightly. “fushiguro..”
“hm?!”
“my name.”
“ohh!” you smiled despite the situation just under you. “nice to meet you.”
something about the tiny defeated smile on your face made the corner of his mouth twitch, barely.. just enough for you to notice.
tsumiki is already giggling so hard she has to wipe under her eye. “you fell into your own coffee?”
“mhm!” you squeeze your face into the pillow.
“so.. when did you actually start talking after that?” she asks.
“oh! right.”
for the next half hour, the story unfolds in pieces.
“i discovered he was secretly kind when he carried my groceries cause he saw me walking home and decided to help me. it was raining.”
“your groceries were falling.” megumi says from the kitchen, now wiping off the counters and dinner table.
“he fixed my umbrella and walked with me.”
“well yeah.. it was raining.” he says.
“you gave me your scaaarff” you say teasingly.
“you were shivering, babe. those were all practical decisions.” he says.
“they’re boyfriend decisions!”
“hmm..” he hums.
“they became boyfriend decisions.”
“eventually they did.”
tsumiki watches the two of you with unmistakable amusement.
“so who confessed?”
you point at megumi. “he did.”
his head lifts. “did i?”
“he asked me out. with flowers and chocolates and-”
“and that counts as a confession?”
“it is the definition of telling someone you like them, baby!”
“then i guess i confessed”
you beam. “exactly. he confessed.”
tsumiki laughs softly. “i could never imagine him being that direct.”
“it took him twenty three minutes.”
megumi closes his eyes “you timed my confession?”
“it was so important and i was so nervous and i had butterflies and you looked so handsome.”
“what about your first kiss?” tsumiki perks up.
you gasp dramatically. “oh my goodness, tsumiki! it was sooo awkward!”
“it wasn’t,” megumi answeres.
“baby, seriously.. it was so awkward. we even bumped into each other with our noses.”
“i’m sorry?” tsumiki blinks.
“it was his fault.”
“how?”
“i wanted to kiss him but it was my first kiss and i wasn’t ready so i was just looking at him and then he went in for a kiss and i froze and then he bumped into me.”
“you weren’t watching where you were going. you should’ve tilted your head.”
“i was admiring my future husband first.” you giggle.
the kitchen where megumi is goes silent. your hand pops against your mouth and your eyes widen enormously.
tsumiki's eyebrows shoot up, her lips stretched with a smirk. you cover your face.
“sorry. i never call him that usually. i never have.”
“no you haven’t.” megumi says quietly.
“i don’t know where it came from..?” you say sheepishly.
“you’ve been thinking about it. marrying me. it came from your brain.”
“i know where it came from! and no i wasn’t!” you’re so nervous cause you dont know if megumi wants that or not. if megumi wants to marry you.
megumi approaches carefully, looking down at you with the calmest expression for the longest moment. “i don’t mind.” he says in the softest voice imaginable.
you peek over the pillow “hm?”
“if that’s what you’re hoping for.”
the room is very, very quiet now. megumi meets your eyes. “i don’t mind being your future husband.”
you’d mouth falls open. his ears turn pink immediately, but he doesn’t look away. “i’d actually like that a lot.”
everything in your brain stops working. tsumiki smiles so softly her eyes shimmer. she recognizes her quiet, honest little brother she’s always known.
you stare at megumi for another heartbeat, then another. his expression shifts to something a little more alarmed. perhaps he spoke too soon. “sweetheart?”
before he could even react, you launch yourself off the couch.
“whoa-”
you collide with him hard enough to make him stumble backward a step, your arms wrapping tightly around his neck. you bury your face against him. “you aren’t supposed to say such sweet things so casually!”
he catches your waist instinctively, a huff of a laugh escaping him as he looks at tsumiki's face, she’s giggling so hard, it tells megumi all he needs to know. tsumiki loves you.
“was it sweet?”
“it was devastating gumi!”
“i think that’s a bit dramatic, isn’t it?”
you squeeze him even tighter. “i love you so much.”
his arms slowly settle around your back. “i know you do.”
“and we’re gonna get married someday.”
“yeah.. thats the plan.”
you pull away and kiss him gently, then you turn to face tsumiki and squeal. you leap back onto the couch beside her and put on a movie.
megumi follows, pulling you against him on the couch.
the movie doesn’t last very long. well, the movie does. your attention span.. not really.
halfway through, you’re buried against megumi’s side beneath one of tsumikis soft, knitted blankets, whispering commentary every thirty seconds and kissing his cheek for no reason.
“that actor was in another movie.”
“hm.”
“he looks taller here.”
“is that so?” he murmurs.
“mhm.”
you kiss his cheek again. by the time the credits roll, the apartment has gone quiet. outside, the city glows beneath shattered streetlights.
tsumiki stretches with a sleepy yawn. “i should probably get some sleep.”
“oh! me too!”
you and megumi both hug her goodnight. he goes to the car while you make your way to the guest room, already undoing the bed and undressing yourself.
megumi returns with your bags, places them on the bed, and hands you your towel.
“thank you gummy bear.”
he removes his sweater and folds it neatly on the chair. you disappear into the bathroom for a quick shower and a change of clothes.
a few minutes later, the bathroom door opens. “baby?”
“hm?” megumi hums, looking up from his phone.
you peek around the corner wearing one of his oversized sleep shirts that reaches your mid thigh. “i forgot my toothbrush.”
megumi reaches into the over night bag without looking. “you packed two.”
“oh!”
he hands it to you.
“thanks megumi.”
“you packed it.”
“i still appreciate you.”
a tiny smile tugs at his lips.
by the time you emerge again, megumi is already showered and sitting on the edge of the bed in gray sweatpants and nothing more.
you stop walking and spin in his shirt.
“..pretty.” he looks up.
you smile. “hm?”
“nothing.”
“you called me pretty” you whisper.
“maybe i did”
“you did, you’re so sappy megumi!”
“i take it back”
“nope, you can’t.”
the bedroom falls into comfortable darkness as you crawl into the bed beside megumi, rubbing your feet together first. you turn into your side. “soo..”
“so?”
“we’re okay?”
megumi reaches across the small space between you and pulls you into him. “we’re okay.”
“promise? pinky promise?”
“i promise.” his thumb lingers against your cheek. “i’m really sorry.”
you lean into his touch. “i know.”
you smile. your noses are only inches apart now. “can i kiss you?” he whispers.
“mhm.”
he closes the last bit of distance, pressing the softest kiss against your lips. it’s slow and gentle, nothing hurried. until megumi deepens it.
his hand slides naturally to your your waist while the other cups your jaw. his tongue dances with yours, a small groan slipping from his throat.
when you pull back, he follows just enough to steal two tiny kisses.
you giggle against his mouth. “how greedy.”
“you do the same all the time.”
he buries his face in your neck.
“gumi?” you murmur.
“hm?”
“do you think your sister liked me?”
“she loved you.”
you smile and kiss his forehead. “goodnight.”
he just hums and pulls you closer, this time.. neither of you has to sleep miles away from the other.

=================================================
You had been there for Sukuna since college. Back when everyone thought he was the biggest asshole on campus, until you realized just how much responsibility he was carrying all alone. Responsibility that was never supposed to be his in the first place. When you first approached him, he reminded you of a wild cat. Angry. Hissy. Ready to scratch anyone who came too close. But deep down... he never really wanted you to leave.
So you didn't.
Slowly, he began trusting you. He started opening up, little by little, and then one day he introduced you to his younger brothers. Choso and Yuji. You adored them instantly, and they welcomed you with tiny, shy smiles that completely melted your heart. Then eventually, with flushed cheeks and slightly trembling hands, Sukuna asked you to be his girl. All that time, you had been convinced you were the only one with a crush on him, so hearing those words felt almost unreal.
His parents had never cared about any of them and had left the three brothers to fend for themselves. Sukuna had been forced to grow up far too early, taking responsibility for Yuji and Choso while he was still just a kid himself. Even in college, he was juggling three jobs just to make ends meet while trying his best not to lose his scholarship. He never had much time back then, but somehow, no matter how exhausted he was, he never forgot about you.
You, on the other hand, came from a wealthy family. Sukuna was never the kind of person who would accept financial help, so you practically had to force him to move into your apartment just so he could stop wasting money on rent. It wasn't even yours to begin with. Your grandmother had gifted it to you. Once he finally gave in, it slowly stopped feeling like two people sharing a place. You felt like you had become a family.
You knew how important his work was to him so you helped him take care of his younger brothers, while also helping Sukuna get his business off the ground until he finally started attracting investors, business partners and greater opportunities. Then, slowly, the business began to grow. He had become someone people wanted to know and impress.
The more successful he became, the busier he got. You tried to understand it but then there were moments, when it felt like you were no longer a part of his world. Slowly the lack of time, efforts and assurance turned your relationship bitter. At one point you couldn't even remember the last time the two of you had laughed together or simply enjoyed each other's company. You guys barely even talked and when you did, they turned into fights. Constantly for months now.
He was always busy with work, meetings, and events, while more and more women kept throwing themselves at him. You understood he couldn't control that part, but it still pissed you off because he reacted like it was no big deal. Like you were overreacting. He used to get visibility irritated when some tried to hit on him before but now it was difficult to recognise him at times. Somewhere along the way, those frustrations slowly turned into suspicions. Were all those business trips really about work? Was there someone else? Did he still love you?
You watched the way women looked at him, with obvious desire in their eyes, not caring that you were standing right there beside him. And honestly you couldn't even blame them. Sukuna was attractive. Painfully so. Tall, handsome, successful, confident, and carrying himself with the kind of quiet authority that naturally drew people's attention the moment he walked into a room. It was almost impossible not to notice.
Some wore polite smiles. Others barely acknowledged your existence. But a few... a few looked at you with that same mocking smile, like they couldn't understand why someone like you was standing next to someone like him. Like you were some naïve little girl who had somehow ended up with a man completely out of her league.
And every single time it happened, a small part of you deep down had started wondering the same thing.
The doubts only seemed to grow stronger. Women - investors, business partners, assistants - kept messaging him, sometimes even late at night. Other times when he would step outside to answer a call, and you couldn't help overhearing a little, he didn't sound annoyed.
If anything, he sounded interested. Or maybe just amused. Like he was playing hard to get. He had changed a lot. And maybe his feelings changed.
It wasn't really his fault... was it?
You had helped him through some of the hardest years of his life. Maybe he stayed because he felt guilty about leaving you, even if deep down he wanted to. At first, the two of you fought all the time, but these past few weeks... even that had stopped. The silence between you had become cold, almost as if neither of you thought the relationship was worth fighting for anymore.
And then he forgot your anniversary. He never even realized it. Or if he did... he didn't seem guilty enough to bring it up.You never reminded him. What was the point? He would've probably shown up with some ridiculously expensive gift, thinking money could fix what had been broken for months. It couldn't.
You had spent years helping raise Sukuna's younger brothers, putting yourself and your own career second because you wanted to help all of them. You missed the girl you were back in college. The girl who was ambitious, who genuinely loved the work she did, who woke up excited for the future. Somewhere along the way, life became everyone else first and you somewhere at the very end. And now you were just tired.
But it was not just Sukuna who had changed. Even Yuji and Choso had.
Choso had always been the shy one. The kind of kid who practically hovered around you but hid behind you whenever someone new spoke to him. At first, you kept telling yourself that maybe he was just growing up. College changed people. He was probably busy trying to find his own friends and his own place in the world.
Yuji was easier to explain too. He was a teenager now. Teenagers changed. They stopped clinging to people and became more independent. That's what you kept telling yourself anyway. But no matter how many excuses you came up with, that strange feeling never really went away. Both of them had slowly become distant.
Yuji, who used to cling to your arm, scold Sukuna on your behalf whenever you two fought, and refuse to let you leave the house without hugging him first, had become someone who barely spoke more than three words to you. He still smiled politely whenever you crossed paths, but that was all they were now. Polite smiles. The kind you gave strangers.
Choso wasn't much different. He no longer hovered around you or quietly followed you into the kitchen just to keep you company while you cooked. Instead, it almost felt like he was avoiding you. At first, you thought maybe you were overthinking it. Then one afternoon, you overheard him talking to a few of his college friends. They were talking about you.
"I mean... she's lucky. Sukuna's loaded now. Must be nice living off all that money while he works day and night."
You paused and waited.
You knew Choso would say something. He knew better than anyone that you had been there long before Sukuna ever had money. So you waited for him to correct them. To defend you. Instead there was silence. Your heart sank. He didn't agree but he didn't disagree either. And somehow, that hurt just as much.
Did Choso think that too? Was that why he had been avoiding you? Not because he was shy anymore, but because he genuinely didn't like you? It suddenly hit you that maybe they had all changed. You had just refused to accept it. You had fed them, helped them with their homework, cleaned up after them, worried about them, celebrated their birthdays, and loved them like they were your own. But what were you to them now? Just some girl living off Sukuna's money? A nanny? A convenience?
You kept telling yourself Choso was just busy with college, trying to find his people, while Yuji was simply acting like every teenager did. Until one afternoon, when you came back from the supermarket. The three of them were sitting together in the living room, eating, laughing, and joking around. They hadn't noticed you standing at the front door yet, your arms full of grocery bags, but something inside you broke that day because, for the first time in months, you saw them laughing the way they used to.
Just...Not with you.
You stood there for a few seconds before finally stepping inside. The laughter stopped almost immediately. The room fell silent, and it felt like a stranger had just walked into a private conversation instead of coming home. Like you no longer belonged there. The only person who spoke was Sukuna.
"There's dinner for you in the oven."
You simply nodded before making your way straight to your bedroom.
You knew you had to talk to Sukuna. You had been putting it off for months, but this couldn't continue anymore. Except... he never came to your room that night. A quiet chuckle escaped your lips as you lay down on the bed. When was the last time the two of you had even gone to sleep together peacefully? Most nights ended in arguments, while the rest ended with him staying in his office until he eventually fell asleep there instead.
As you stared at the ceiling, you remembered something Shoko had told you months ago when the two of you had met. You're doing wife duties while you're still just the girlfriend. It never ends well. Back then, you hadn't listened. Because back then they needed you.
But people changed, and maybe the biggest thing you had failed to realize was that you weren't actually family. You were just convenient. And now that they didn't need you anymore, you couldn't help but feel like a burden more than ever. Sleep never came that night. Sukuna and you barely even felt like you were in a relationship anymore. As difficult as it was to admit, maybe his feelings really had changed. His circle had grown. His world had grown. Deep down, he probably knew he'd be better off with someone else.
Just when you finally gathered the courage to talk to Sukuna, he walked into the bedroom.
"I have to leave now," he said, already reaching for his suitcase. "Business trip."
You simply nodded. He disappeared back out to finish packing when his phone, which he had left on the bed, lit up with a notification.
A woman's name..
She was just one of those women. One of the many who seemed to cling to Sukuna even more whenever you were around, acting as if they knew him better than you did. The conversation would always somehow drift towards business, investors, meetings, and deals, leaving you standing there feeling like an outsider in your own relationship. Then there were the little things. The way her hand always seemed to linger on his arm a little longer than necessary. The way she stood just a little too close. The smiles that almost felt intentional, like she was trying to send you a message without ever saying a word. But she wasn't the only one. There had been others. Too many for you to even remember their names.
‘Let's meet at the same hotel after the meeting.’
Before you could even process what you had read, Sukuna walked back into the room and immediately picked up his phone. It was quick. Almost instinctive. Like he was hiding something.
You didn't feel angry. You didn't even feel like asking him to explain. You had done that before. Every single time it ended the same way. Another fight. Another argument about how you were overthinking things. How you were reading too much into it. How you just needed to trust him.
But you did not trust him anymore. Not after everything had changed. You remembered how he used to get irritated whenever another woman openly flirted with him. Now, it almost felt like he enjoyed it. And you were tired of wondering. Tired of convincing yourself that nothing had changed when everything around you said otherwise.
There were plenty of women interested in him. Women with influence. Women with powerful connections. Women who naturally belonged in the world he had built for himself. You weren't insecure. At least, you didn't think you were. You were just trying to be realistic.
Sukuna had outgrown you. He deserved someone who matched him. Honestly, he might even be relieved when you finally left. That night, Sukuna left for his business trip. You started packing.
There wasn't much that was truly yours anymore. Most of what surrounded you had been bought by Sukuna. At first, they were gifts because he wanted to repay you for standing beside him during the hardest years of his life. Somewhere along the way, they slowly became apologies instead. Expensive gifts after every argument, after every forgotten promise, after every disappointment. You just hadn't realized it back then.
Your eyes drifted to the ring on your finger. A ruby. Your favorite stone.
He had given it to you after landing his first major client almost four years ago. It wasn't an engagement ring. It was a promise ring. A promise that the two of you would get married one day as soon as his business got more stable so you guys could plan a lavish wedding.
Did you even want that anymore? You couldn't honestly say yes. Because love wasn't supposed to make you feel this small. You slowly slipped it off your finger and gently placed the ring inside the bedside drawer.
The next morning, two large suitcases sat by the bedroom door. One held your clothes. The other was filled with your books, important documents, and work files. Two smaller suitcases carried your gadgets and all the little pieces of yourself that had quietly found their place around the penthouse over the years.
Maybe you weren't being as calm as you had convinced yourself you were about this. Maybe you were being just a little petty because you wanted to erase every little trace of you out of his life.
Your shampoo. Your bath bombs. Your soft pink towel. The stupid little decorations you had insisted on buying because they made the place feel warmer. Everything went into a box.
The things you couldn't take with you, you had removed from the apartment entirely. Your old desk. Your bookshelf. Your oversized chair where you spent countless nights working while Yuji and Choso did their homework beside you. Sukuna will get his life back. Without you. Without even the smallest fragments of you left behind. After all, it was only polite.
Before leaving, you decided to have breakfast one last time with Yuji and Choso. You let out a quiet chuckle when both of them seemed to be in a hurry to leave. It took them barely three minutes to finish eating before they were already grabbing their bags and heading towards the door. You simply watched them and had your breakfast.
The two brothers exchanged a confused glance as you didn't say much today. You usually asked them what they had planned, their friends or just about anything but today you were very quiet. They shrugged it off thinking you were just in one of your quieter moods today. They walked toward the door, mumbled their goodbyes and turned to leave.
But you didn't answer.
That made them pause. Yuji looked back first. You were staring at the family picture hanging on the wall. The one you had insisted on framing years ago. Back then, all you could see was your family.
Now all you saw was a family of three brothers and a woman who was about to become someone they used to know. Eventually, you would just become another stranger from their past. You weren't going to fool yourself into believing Yuji or Choso would want to keep in touch with you after this. They barely spoke to you anymore. Some days you didn't even see them because they stayed over at friends' houses. You only knew the names of a few friends because they occasionally came over.
"Y/n?"
Yuji's voice pulled you out of your thoughts. You looked over at him as you replied. "Yeah?"
No smile.
"We're leaving."
"Okay."
Your face remained blank. No ‘Take care’, No ‘Don't do anything stupid’.
Nothing. Both of them frowned. It felt... strange.
Choso hesitated before quietly asking, "You okay? You seem distracted."
His eyes shifted towards the family picture you had been staring at. You finally gave them a small smile as you looked away.
"Yeah. I was just thinking it's time to change this old picture."
The two brothers simply nodded before leaving. It was unusual. But they were already running late. As soon as they left you got up and carried your suitcases down to the car. After one trip, you came back upstairs to check the penthouse one last time.
You looked around and there wasn't a single thing left that belonged to you anymore. The apartment looked exactly the way it had before you ever moved in.
Like a luxury hotel.
Only one thing remained. The family picture.
You walked over and carefully took it off the wall. As soon as it was in your hands, every bit of anger and frustration you had been holding back came rushing to the surface. Your fingers tightened around the frame as tears silently rolled down your cheeks. You remembered the day you had proudly hung it above the fireplace. You remembered Choso's shy smile and Yuji excitedly pointing at himself in the picture.
You couldn't take it with you. But you did not want to leave it here either. It didn't belong above that fireplace anymore. In a sudden burst of anger, you threw it onto the floor. The glass shattered across the room.
After a moment of satisfaction, you let out an exhausted groan.
Great. Now I have to clean it up.
Those idiots would probably end up cutting themselves trying to do it. Just then, your phone buzzed. A message from Sukuna.
‘Choso and Yuji will be staying at their friends' place and will return next week.’
You stared at the screen for a second before letting out a hollow laugh. They hadn't even bothered telling you when you just saw them now. But why are you even surprised anymore? You were not family to them, at least not anymore.
You threw the broken frame into the bin. And gave the photograph one final look, before you walked over to the stove.
And burned it.
Like it had never existed before you finally walked out of the penthouse. Away from the life you had built. And the life you had only convinced yourself was yours.
You had your own money. More than enough, actually. You had never actually stopped working. You still had your own assets and investments, and although you had slowed down over the years, you continued taking independent projects from home whenever you had the time. You had simply spent so much of that time giving everyone else their share of you that your own dreams had quietly been pushed aside.
That was going to change now.
A friend owned an apartment nearby and handed you the keys without hesitation. You moved in that very day. There wasn't much to organize since it came fully furnished, so by evening you found yourself shopping for an entirely new wardrobe. Professional clothes. Clothes that made you feel like yourself again. You signed up for a gym too. Not because you were unhappy with how you looked, but because you missed feeling strong.
Besides, working out had always been your way of clearing your head. It gave you a reason to eat better, stay active, and focus on yourself again. For the first time in months... You were excited. Everything felt new.
The following day, you sat down and mapped out the next six months of your life. Registering your company. Legal paperwork. Finance. Marketing. Every little detail had already been planned years ago back in college. Somewhere along the way, you had forgotten about that dream.
Now... It was finally beginning.
You slept well that night. You had already grown so used to sleeping alone these past few weeks that it didn't even feel strange anymore. There was a lot you were looking forward to.
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday morning
Choso picked Yuji up before heading back to the penthouse together. The moment they stepped inside, both of them instinctively looked towards the dining table, expecting to see you already sitting there, probably waiting for them to finally wake up so breakfast could begin.
Instead the house was quiet. It felt strange.
"Maybe she went out," Yuji mumbled with a small shrug as he looked around for you, before making his way towards his room. Choso silently followed behind him.
As they walked upstairs, both of their eyes drifted towards the empty space above the fireplace. The family picture was still gone. A small frown settled on both their faces. The whole place looked weird without it.
After changing, the two brothers wandered back downstairs, grabbed a box of cereal, and sat across from each other at the dining table. Both were lost in their own thoughts before Choso finally spoke.
"...Did she message you over the weekend?"
Yuji looked up immediately. He didn't even need to ask who Choso was talking about.
"No." He frowned. "I honestly thought my phone was broken or something."
Choso slowly nodded, absentmindedly pushing the cereal around his bowl.
"I was expecting at least two calls," he admitted quietly. "She didn't even text."
Yuji stayed silent.
"...She didn't seem okay that day either," Choso continued after a moment. "Where is she so early anyway?"
Yuji shrugged. "Maybe she's with Sukuna?"
The two brothers looked at each other before nodding. That made the most sense. Anything else, didn't.
Just then, Sukuna finally returned from his business trip. He walked in carrying lunch. Your favorite. You had left his "Good morning" message on read earlier that day. It had felt more like a formality than anything else, especially since he had spent most of the weekend buried in work anyway. He figured you were still upset with him, so he had picked up your favorite food on the way home, hoping it might at least get you to talk to him.
The moment he stepped inside, his eyes instinctively searched the apartment. He expected to see you. Instead he found Yuji and Choso sitting silently at the dining table.
His brows furrowed.
"Where is she?" he asked as he placed the takeaway bags on the table before looking around the place.
Yuji looked just as confused.
"Isn't she with you?"
"I just got back from a work trip. How the hell could she be with me?"
Choso slowly looked up.
"...She hasn't been home since morning."
Sukuna's head snapped towards him.
"And you're telling me that just now?" His voice came out much harsher than he intended as he immediately pulled his phone out. "Did either of you at least call her?"
The two brothers exchanged guilty looks before quietly shaking their heads. They had both assumed you'd be back by now. Muttering a curse under his breath, Sukuna immediately called you.
You didn’t answer. He called again. This time the call disconnected, only for a message to appear a few seconds later.
‘I'm busy with some work.’
He stared at it for a second before quickly typing back.
‘Where are you? At least tell me when you'll be home.’
No reply. Another minute passed. Still nothing. Sukuna let out a frustrated sigh before slipping his phone back into his pocket.
"She's busy."
He gestured towards the food.
"I brought food. Eat."
The three of them sat down in silence. Trying to ignore the uncomfortable atmosphere, Sukuna finally spoke.
"What did you two do over the weekend, brats?"
"Nothing much," Yuji answered quietly. "Just hung out with friends."
Normally he would've rambled for another five minutes after that. But today he spoke nothing else. Sukuna glanced towards Choso.
"And you?"
"...Same."
Another silence settled over the table before Choso quietly looked down at the pasta in front of him.
"...She makes this much better."
Yuji nodded in agreement. Sukuna rolled his eyes, already about to make some sarcastic remark, when his gaze drifted towards the fireplace.
He paused.
"...Where did that picture go?"
Yuji looked over. "Oh."
"She said it was getting old. She must have taken it down to replace it."
Sukuna frowned. Old? You loved that picture. You had always gone on about how it was your favorite one in the house. Now the wall looked very empty. For some reason, it bothered him more than it should have.
"When did she say that?"
Yuji thought for a second.
"...Thursday morning."
Choso quietly added. "That was the last time we talked to her."
Something heavy settled in Sukuna's chest.
"Did..." Yuji hesitated before asking quietly, "...did you guys fight?"
Choso glanced towards him before adding,
"...She didn't look okay that day."
Sukuna frowned.
"...You're telling me she didn't call either of you the entire weekend?"
Both brothers slowly shook their heads.
That wasn't like you. No matter how bad things got between the two of you, you never dragged Yuji or Choso into it. You always made sure they were okay, especially whenever they stayed somewhere else. You always checked if they had eaten, if they reached safely, if they needed anything.
So why...
"I'll fix it."
It came out more like a promise to himself than to anyone else. He stood up, phone already in his hand, sending you another message.
Call me when you're free
Then he sat back down, staring at the screen as if somehow that would make it ring faster. A few minutes later, it finally did. Sukuna answered the phone almost immediately.
"What do you want?"
He frowned at your detached tone. It was cold. Polite. Like he was talking to a stranger. He deserved that much. Honestly, at this point he wasn't even sure what exactly you were still mad about anymore. Somewhere along the way, every fight had blurred into the next until he couldn't tell where one ended and another began.
"Look..." he sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "I'm sorry, alright?"
"Okay."
The reply came so quickly it almost caught him off guard. No arguing. No sarcasm. No telling him to go to hell.
Just ‘Okay’ Somehow, that felt worse. He continued anyway.
"Please just come home so we can sort this out."
There was a long pause. Long enough for him to wonder whether the call had disconnected. Then he heard you sigh as you realised he still hadn't noticed it yet.
"Sukuna..."
Your voice was calm. Too calm.
"I'm not coming back."
He frowned.
"What do you mean?...Are you staying at Shoko's? Just tell me where you are."
He assumed just like every other time, you will still stay. Maybe not happily, but you always did. Even when you were furious. Somewhere deep down, he had always known why.
Yuji.
Choso.
No matter how angry you were with him, you never let it affect them. But this time was different. And he was yet to realise it.
"Sukuna..." You took a slow breath before saying the words that had been sitting on your chest for days.
"I moved out."
Silence. You could hear his breathing. Nothing else. It was almost like his brain had refused to process what you had just said.
"...What?"
"I moved out."
"What the hell are you talking about?" he snapped, his voice suddenly rising. "I get that you're mad, but don't fucking joke like this."
You leaned your head back against your office chair, closing your eyes for a moment. You already knew he wasn't going to make this easy. Not because he loved you. Because you had become a habit. And habits were hard to break.
"I already moved out," you repeated quietly. "Three days ago."
Sukuna slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. His eyes wandered around the room. For the first time he actually looked.
Your desk. Gone.
The chair you always curled up in while reading. Gone.
Your books. Gone.
The little decorations you insisted made the room feel warmer. Gone.
It was so subtle that he hadn't noticed before. Now it looked like you had never lived there at all. His breathing became uneven. His hand started trembling as he stood up and walked towards the wardrobe. He pulled the door open.
Almost empty.
Only the expensive things he had bought you over the years were still hanging inside. His chest tightened painfully. Suddenly it felt too real.
"B-Baby..." His voice cracked for the first time. "Where are you?"
You stayed silent. He swallowed hard.
"Please." The word came out so quietly you almost didn't hear it.
"Think about Choso." Another pause. "...about Yuji."
Your voice remained calm. "They'll still have you... and that's enough. I know you'll all be alright."
Something inside Sukuna snapped. "NO!"
His voice echoed through the bedroom.
"YOU DON'T GET TO DECIDE THAT!"
His breathing had become ragged.
"YOU DON'T GET TO JUST LEAVE AND TELL ME WE'LL BE OKAY WHEN YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WE WON'T!"
For the first time since the call had started, anger finally surged through you. How dare he. How dare he act like this now? Like none of this had been his fault? A quiet, bitter chuckle escaped your lips.
"You were doing just fine all this time," you replied softly. "Even when I wasn't."
He froze.
"So why pretend now?" Your voice cracked just slightly. "Why are you acting like we weren't already over?"
A tear slipped down his face before he even realized it was there. He knew things had gotten bad. He knew the two of you had been fighting more than either of you were smiling lately. Every misunderstanding seemed to turn into another argument, every conversation into another disappointment. But somewhere, somehow, he had convinced himself that no matter how ugly things got...
You would still be there. He had taken that for granted.
"But..." His voice broke. "You can't just leave. We are family. You don;t get to do this" He didn't even know what he was saying anymore. "We have to at least try. We can fix this." He shook his head desperately, like if he refused to accept it hard enough, everything would somehow go back to normal. "Please... just give me one more chance. I swear I'll -"
You had heard it before. You had done this dance before. It always ended the same way. A few days of trying. A few promises. Then work took over again, another misunderstanding happened, and before you knew it, you were right back where you started. Now you couldn't believe him anymore. Not even if a part of you wanted to.
"Check your bedside drawer," you said quietly. "I left you something."
Your voice was so calm that it scared him. With trembling hands, he walked over to the bedside table. Somewhere deep down he already knew as he slowly pulled the drawer open.
His breath caught. There it was. Your ruby ring.
The one he had spent months saving for after landing his first major client. He still remembered how nervous he had been handing it to you, promising that one day he'd replace it with a real engagement ring. He remembered how brightly you had smiled, teasing him that he had somehow managed to remember your favorite gemstone. Now it was lying alone inside the drawer.
Returned.
The promise had been returned with it. He understood exactly what you were trying to say. You didn't trust him anymore. You didn't believe in him anymore. You didn't believe in the relationship anymore. His trembling hand held onto the bed as another sob escaped him.
Ryomen Sukuna.
The man who hadn't cried when his parents abandoned them. The man who hadn't cried while working three jobs just to keep food on the table. The man who had built an entire company from nothing with his own hands. Was now crying so hard he could barely breathe.
You had left.
The one person who had stayed beside him when he had absolutely nothing. The one who never looked down on him. The one who made sure Yuji and Choso always smiled. The one who had somehow turned a tiny apartment into a home..
"You..." His voice came out as nothing more than a broken whisper. "...You can't just leave us."
Your eyes filled with tears again. "We don’t belong together anymore, Sukuna. And I've accepted it. You should too."
And before he could say another word, you ended the call.
"No... no..."
His hands shook violently as he called you back. Again and again. Straight to voicemail. He sent a message. No reply. His breathing became more frantic as he looked around the bedroom again.
It wasn't just your clothes. Everything that had belonged to you was gone. Even your favorite blanket. It suddenly looked like no one had ever lived there besides him. Like you had erased yourself from the apartment...And from his life.
A strangled sound escaped his throat before rage exploded through him. He grabbed the chair nearest to him and hurled it across the room. It slammed into the wall, knocking a lamp onto the floor where it shattered instantly. His breathing became heavier. His vision blurred with tears.
He ripped the curtains down with one violent pull before punching the wardrobe hard enough to leave a dent in the wood. Nothing mattered. None of it. Not the penthouse. Not the company. Not the money. None of it meant a damn thing if you weren't there to come home to.
The crashing downstairs was loud enough that Yuji and Choso came running.
"Sukuna!"
"What happened?"
The two brothers stopped dead in the doorway. The room looked like a disaster. Broken glass covered the floor. The chair lay on its side. The curtains had been ripped down.
Their older brother stood in the middle of it all, breathing heavily, tears streaming down his face. Neither of them had ever seen him like this. Choso was the first to find his voice.
"...what’s wrong?"
Sukuna slowly turned around. His eyes were red. Broken. Empty.
"She left."
Neither of them moved.
"She's..." His voice cracked again. "...She's not coming back."
The room fell completely silent. Yuji felt the color drain from his face. Choso's heart dropped into his stomach.
What? Why?
Neither of them moved. For a long moment, the only sound in the room was Sukuna's uneven breathing.
"...When?" Yuji finally managed to ask. Sukuna stared blankly ahead.
"Thursday."
Both brothers froze.
"...Thursday?" Choso frowned.
Choso slowly sat down, trying to make sense of it all.
"She..." His voice caught in his throat. "She was saying goodbye."
The family picture. You were not making conversation. You were saying goodbye.
"No..." Yuji whispered, shaking his head. "No... she wouldn't just leave."
He immediately looked towards Sukuna. "You called her back, right?"
Sukuna nodded. "She won't answer."
"Text her."
"I did."
"Call her again then!"
"I HAVE!"
The words echoed through the room before Sukuna immediately looked away, dragging a trembling hand over his face. His voice had become hoarse.
"I don't know where she is."
That sentence hit the two brothers harder than anything else. After everything, he didn't even know where you were. This hadn't been some impulsive decision after another fight.
You had packed. Found another place to live. Taken everything that truly belonged to you. You hadn't left because of one argument. You had been leaving for months. He had simply been too blind to notice.
For years, he had convinced himself that everything he was doing was for you. Ever since college, the only thing on his mind had been becoming someone worthy of standing beside you. You came from a family that could give you almost anything, while he came from nothing. Somewhere along the way, he had convinced himself that if he just worked hard enough, earned enough, became successful enough, then one day he would finally be able to give you the life you deserved.
So he worked. And worked. And worked.
He tolerated investors he couldn't stand, business dinners he hated, and people he would've gladly thrown out if his company wasn't still growing. Every fake smile, every forced conversation, every handshake was another step towards the future he wanted to build with you.
He never as much as thought about anyone else, forget cheating. The women never mattered. Not one of them. They couldn't even compare to you.
To him, they were nothing more than another inconvenience that came with success. He had simply become better at hiding his irritation because losing his temper every time someone flirted with him wasn't an option anymore. The company was still growing. Investors watched everything. One wrong move, one public scene, and years of work could disappear overnight. So instead of barking back the way he used to, he learned to hide it behind subtle gestures, cold stares, short replies, and ending conversations as quickly as possible.
He thought he was protecting your future. Instead he had forgotten to protect your present. He had forgotten to cherish the person he was trying so desperately to build that future for.
The room remained silent.
However Sukuna hadn't been the only one who had changed.
As his company grew, so did the attention around Yuji and Choso. Former classmates who barely acknowledged them when they struggled suddenly wanted to be friends. Some wanted favors. Others simply wanted to be associated with Sukuna's name. There were arguments, fights, and people trying to use them because of who their brother had become. Sukuna quietly handled most of it before it ever reached you.
The brothers stopped coming to you with every little problem. Not because they stopped thinking of you as family. Because they did not want to bother you even more..
Years ago, they remember overhearing your parents arguing with you, telling you that you spent too much of your life taking care of three boys who weren't even your responsibility. Those words made them realise how much they owed to you.
And without meaning to, they started carrying things on their own. They stopped asking for help. Spent more time outside. Tried to solve their own problems. Tried to become someone you could be proud of instead of another responsibility you had to look after.
Neither of them realized that every small step they took towards becoming independent looked, from where you were standing, like another step away from you. And by the time any of them understood what had happened...
You were already gone.

I've been busy with this story for a while now. This one might have 1 or 2 more parts. Let me know your thoughts!
How many of you want to see Sukuna yearn for her so badly that he completely loses his mind after realizing what he's lost?
cw: ⠀ nerdjo x fem reader, ⠀ fluff, ⠀ college setting, eventual confession, tutor gojo, reader is “failing”, shyish gojo, kissing, shoko as a side character, clingy gojo if u squint. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ wc: 2.4k
the first day you stepped into ur biochemistry class you knew it was gonna fuck you over. no matter what you did, no matter how much effort you put in, it just never seemed to stick.
you were starting to give up, thinking that barely passing with 60s would be enough. this was truly worse than you thought.
“i think we just need to lock in more.” is what your friend shoko said. the two of you met up at the local library on campus to study for the upcoming exam.
“i think you got it all wrong shoko..” what ur friend failed to realize is how shes 10x smarter than you. whenever she swore she bombed a test, it came back with 90s, even 100s but u guess her efforts paid off unlike yours. “i think i just need a tutor at this point.” you muttered. you didn’t want it to come down to this.
and honestly that seemed like the last resort. “i do know someone who’s good with this stuff & teaching” shoko suggested. perfect. someone good at the subject and could teach you it? before you could think, you’re begging her for their number.
you find out his name is gojo and beyond your knowledge, you find out he’s also in your class. you started to wonder why you never noticed him. maybe it was due to the class of forty other students or just the intense lectures that took all your attention. the first thing you do once you get home is text him.
y/n: hi ! this is y/n from biochem class, shoko gave me your number.
minutes go by without a response. maybe he’s busy? or maybe he just thinks ur a weirdo who’s trying to creep on him. that’s what you thought till:
gojo: hey y/n whats up?
y/n: i was just wondering if you were open to tutoring me for biochemistry.. no biggie tho if u can’t!
gojo: oh that’s fine. we can discuss the time tomorrow morning if you don’t mind.
y/n: yeah that’s good with me, good night!
gojo: alright, night.
the night flew by and he had asked to meet up at one of the study halls. you arrived minutes before scheduled and see him waiting, sitting at a corner with books scattered across the table.
the first thing you noticed was his face. thick rimmed glasses covered the top half of his face while his white hair complimented his soft features. he looked cuter than you expected. he notices you approaching him and gives you light smile like this isn’t the first time he’s seen you. he was the first to break the silence, greeting you and even shaking ur hand in the process.
“hi, i’m gojo. i’m a sophomore just like you and major in biology, what about you y/n?” he said, introducing himself. you also introduced yourself as a sophomore majoring in chemistry and the lesson goes from there.
you start to doze off as the hour hand reaches three. it’s been roughly an hour and a half hours of endless problems and material to cover. “phagocytosis, it’ll be important. this term is derived from the greek word phagein which means to—“ as gojo was in the middle of explaining, he noticed that you stopped paying attention.
your head was down and it looked like you were sleeping. he couldn’t help but lean forward and admire you closely.
what you didn’t know was gojo’s secret crush on you. it started from the start of the school year, he noticed you were always sitting in the front row to his right, confused as ever but still pretty to him. he constantly seen you around with shoko, his close friend, however he never took the chance to go out and ask about you.
he found it cute how you would act around others, never not happy or excited to talk about your interests or new ideas. he had a whole vision of you mapped out. gojo thought you were the sweetest girl he’d ever seen and hoped maybe one day you’ll treat him like that too.
the small glances he got of you overtime satisfied him enough. until he got a message from you.
the time it took for him to reply was the time he was thinking on how to respond. he didn’t want to seem too desperate or anything so he settled on something more “laid back” as he would say. instead of sticking to what he thought of originally, he kept deleting and retyping messages to make sure it sounded right.
and now he’s here, looking at you, hoping you wouldn’t magically fade away.
instead of him continuing his admiration, he decides to wake you up.
“hey, hey, y/n? wake up” he says nudging you softly. you slightly shift, humming as a response. as you slowly regain consciousness, you realized what you had done.
“omg i’m so sorry gojo!!” you blabbered out. “i didn’t mean to fall asleep as you were teaching, i know it was disrespectful of me.” you continue to apologize profusely but rather than seeing his sympathetic face, you notice him chuckling. you send a confused brow but he kept on laughing.
“it’s fine y/n don’t worry.” he manages to get out. “i should’ve given you a break.”
despite his reassurance, you still felt embarrassed, ur face feeling hotter by the minute. if anything, he should be more upset, ashamed even. you’ve rarely fell asleep while studying and to do it in front of your tutor is awkward.
“why don’t we call it day?” you suggested. and without waiting for a response you sprinted out. you couldn’t deal with the pressure the situation caused. you knew leaving him like that would suck but how you felt at the moment mattered more.
you spent the rest of the day praying you don’t get a text from gojo but also hoping he’s still willing to see you. when you reach the dorms, u had seen a message from him asking if everything was okay between you two. you replied saying everything was alright and no other words were exchanged for the rest of the night.
the test was in under a week but you knew that if u wanted to pass this time, you would need his help. you mustered up the courage to meet him after class.
as you were packing up you catch him dashing out the class in the corner of ur eye. you call out his name and he stops and turns to face you. relief washed over you, seeing as he doesn’t hate you, and u walk up to talk to him.
“gojo, hey, can we talk? you whispered under your breath, not holding eye contact. he nodded, looking at you directly. “what is it you want to talk about?”
while twiddling with your hands you say, “i need to cram the material for the test and you’re all i got.” you can tell by his expression that he was taken aback by ur vulnerability. he’d never expect you to be so open with him but nevertheless, he made plans to teach the lessons and help you study for atleast 2 hours a day (breaks included.)
rather than being in public, he invited you to his dorm room instead. he thought the change in environment would lighten the mood but mostly seen this as an opportunity to get even closer to you.
in those few days, you and gojo bonded together over things you never thought you both would like. after studying for so long you didn’t make the effort of leaving his room right away. you got caught up in conversations with him, getting to know each other on a deeper level. instinctively, you don’t even know why you stayed. maybe because you liked his personality or maybe because you had nothing better to do.
you guys liked the same bands, songs, and films, even promising to watch some together. gojo particularly enjoyed your presence. every time you guys would be working on a problem, you’d catch him staring at you and as soon as you glanced back up he’d act like nothing happened.
you found it adorable how shy he gets sometimes, even innocently asking him a question riles him up. you’d notice small details about him too while you guys spent time together. like how he fumbles with the rims of his glasses when he’s nervous, or when he’s focused, he sticks the tip of his tongue out like a stereotypical nerd.
although you’ve heard people talk about him in a negative light, you knew him better than anyone who complained.
unfortunately all good things must come to an end and it’s now the day of the test. you could barely sleep the night before but waking up to an encouraging text from gojo brought a smile to your face. you believe now with all the hard work you put in and gojo’s help, you could get a high grade.
the test took over than an hour to complete and of course the first person to finish was gojo, shoko later following after. you tried to remember the terms and formulas he had taught you to your best ability.
the world was unfavorable towards you and the timer rang before you could finish. you only had three questions left but handed it in without a fight. as you’re walking out, you’re greeted by shoko who was waiting for you across the hall.
“hey girl! how was the test?” she called out, holding her arms out for a hug. you sighed, resting ur head on her shoulder. after what you endured during the test, all you wanted to talk about was anything but the test.
“it killed me. but i think i did good this time.” you mumbled. a grin formed on shoko’s face and patted ur back to congratulate you. “that’s exactly what i wanna to hear. gojo helped didn’t he?”
that’s right, gojo. without him you’d probably have half-assed the entirety of the test. you hadn’t seen since he left the room. you wanted to see him again, you wanted to thank him for continuing to tutor you despite being a hassle.
“yeah, he really did.” you spoke. “have you seen him tho?”
“i haven’t actually. he left even earlier than i did.” shoko said. that’s when you decided to look for him, giving her a lame excuse on why you had to leave.
you started looking around campus, checking the library, food court, and even other classrooms to see if he’d be there. you’d end up giving up and checking his dorm instead.
you knocked 2 times before you noticed the door opening. gojo, to ur surprise, looks like he’d just been woken up. his glasses aren’t on and his hair is still messy from the supposed nap he took.
he stares at you for a good moment before it clicks to him that it’s you by his door. he quickly fixes his hair and lets you inside.
he leads the way to his room and you follow right behind him, knowing the route just as well as him. his room was left the same as always. it wasn’t too neat but no where near as messy as yours.
“hey y/n. how are you? how was the test?” he asked, just like shoko.
“it was alright, but i’m doing good. you look like you just woke up though. sorry if i interrupted.” you said sincerely. he snickered in response.
one thing you loved about gojo was his laugh. yes his voice is nice and all but it’s not the same. his laughter makes you feel warm inside, you know when he’s laughing, he’s not laughing at you but with you.
“it’s okay. i tried sleeping but i’m glad you’re here.” he smiled, grabbing his glasses so he could see you better.
“i wanted to thank you for your help. i wouldn’t be as happy as i am right now without your help, i think i actually would be home, crying or something.” you rambled unconsciously. “but here i am, thank you gojo.”
he looked you in your eyes, softly before mumbling something under his breath.
“huh? what was that?”
and without hesitation he leans in for a kiss. you were stunned but didn’t fight it. you kissed him back even deeper while he cups your face, trying to bring you impossibly closer. none of you pull away, only enjoying the warmth of the kiss and the spark he enlightened. you could feel the frame of his glasses clashing against your own face but you chose to ignore it, too busy pleasing yourself to care.
it wasn’t till you hear him moan into the kiss that you’d pull back. you looked in his eyes for the first time, seeing his breathless expression as he’s recovering from the steam.
“please tell me you like me too y/n. i like you a lot.” he breathed out. gojo takes your hand into his, holding on to you, hoping you reciprocate the same feelings.
you stay silent for a moment as you try to collect your thoughts.
all the nights you spent with gojo, the nights you thought were strictly “normal friends stuff,” you start to see how you brushed off the romantic feelings you had for him, for the sake of keeping close to you.
you didn’t think he’d be in a relationship with anyone especially not you, someone who he’s tutoring.
you never knew he felt the same way he felt, if you knew anything sooner you’d probably had made a better effort.
“i like you too gojo, a lot. more than expected actually.” you chuckled. and now he’s the one to sigh in relief. you placed another small kiss on his lips qnd he chases you for more, frowning when he realized you were done.
“i’m so happy right now.” he mutters. “i don’t even know what to say.. just don’t go please.”you bring him for a hug, rubbing his back as reassurance. he feared that this was all a dream, that no way the girl of his dreams is in love with him back.
“it’s okay gojo, i’m not going anywhere okay?” he warps his arms tightly around your waist as he pulls you closer.
“thank you y/n, thank you so much.” he smiles into your neck. “i’ll always be here for you as long as you’re here.”
👀👀👀👀👀for the socially awkward reader, can you maybe make a scenario AFTER they hung out with his friends, reader maybe said something out of character on accident because of how anxious they were, and gojo’s lowkey mad 👀👀 angst angst angst 👀👀👀 you decide if angst to comfort but angst angst 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
guys I'm not that evil and also I don't like angst with no happy ending so…
Arguments that hurt the heart
It's tense in the car. The kind of silence that has your heart racing. You are fidgeting with your fingers and are staring out the window when the dam breaks loose.
"Are you out of your mind? Why would you say that?" Satoru's grip tightens on the steering wheel and you can hear that he is trying to keep a steady voice, but it wavers ever so slightly.
"I was nervous and I was just trying to keep up the conversation," you hate how you can hear the tremble in your voice and you hate how your eyes are starting to blur.
"So what? You spew out bullshit about how my friends and I can't take anything seriously. That we're too childish?" His voice starts to rise. In your year of dating, he has never yelled at you. Not when you knocked over the lego set he spent hours building. Not when you clung to him in public. Not when you distracted him from studying. And worst of all, not when you threw up at his parent's anniversary dinner.
"I didn't mean it like that. It came out wrong," you whisper.
"Yeah, sure it did," he doesn't say anything after that and you don't have the energy to defend yourself. You try to hold back your tears as best as you could, but you can feel them threatening to spill.
When you guys arrive at your dorm, you open the door without another word. There is no opening the door for you. No walking you up to your dorm room. No goodbye kiss. No 'I love you.' Nothing.
When you finally head inside your dorm room, you let the tears run loose. You don't even bother changing, you just sit on the floor crying. Knees pulled up to your chest and head resting on your knees.
After an hour of crying, you have no more tears left to cry and the aftermath is not pretty. You can barely breath, your head hurts, and you can't stop sniffling. You stand up, your legs wobbly and you go to grab your pajamas, heading to the bathroom.
The hot shower is a nice reprieve from the events of tonight and you finally let yourself relax.
ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ٨ـ♡ﮩ٨ـﮩﮩ٨ـ
You shut your phone off, closing your eyes and you hope sleep will come easy. Of course, the universe is never kind to you. You spent the night tossing and turning until the sun came up.
You are glad that you don't have classes today because you're sure you look as bad as you feel. You spend the morning scrolling on your phone, only getting up to eat before lying back down. The thoughts hit you suddenly.
"He's gonna break up with me."
"He hates me."
"He doesn't love me anymore."
"I don't know how to fix it."
"It's over."
"I forgot how to live without him."
"He made me want to be better. What do I do now that he might break up with me?"
You don't hear the knocking on the door as your thoughts bombard you. The yelling of your name snaps you out of it and you trudge your way to the door.
When you open the door, you're met with his piercing blue eyes and messy white hair. He must have rushed over here after his class ended. You look over his figure and notice that he's holding bags in both of his hands. Before you can say anything, Satoru immediately drops everything and wraps his arms around you.
You stiffen in his hold and that makes him drop to his knees. He rests him head on your stomach and wraps his arms around your waist.
"I am so sorry for what happened last night. I was completely out of line. I shouldn't have lashed out at you. You were simply making an observation," Satoru presses his face deeper in your stomach.
"I should've been careful with my words. I'm —" He cuts you off.
"Do not apologize. You didn't nothing wrong. It was all on me."
"But—" You try to argue.
"No buts. I made my partner cry, didn't I?"
"Yes, but it's cause I'm sensitive."
"Do not downplay it. I'm supposed to make you happy, not sad. I am so sorry, my love," he presses a kiss to your stomach. "I didn't even say bye to you or kiss you or say I love you. No matter how mad I was at you, I should still let you know that I love you. God, you must've been so scared," he stands up to his full height and begins peppering kisses all over your face while whispering apologies.
"Toru, it's alright, really."
"No, it's not. Tell me how it made you feel."
"I don't think that's necessary."
"Don't say that. It would make you feel better. Plus, I want to know how it made you feel so I can understand." And he waits. Waits for you to start talking. He looks down at you fondly while rubbing his thumb over your cheek.
You let everything spill. About how you didn't like it when he raised his voice. About how you thought he was going to break up with you. About how you thought he hated you. About how you were worried you couldn't fix it. When you finished rambling, he wraps his arms around you and pulls you into a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have ever made you feel that way.
"I forgive you, Toru, I swear. You don't have to feel guilty."
"I know, but I'm going to make it up to you. Starting now," he presses a gentle kiss to your forehead. "I brought snacks, flowers, and a stuffed animal that reminds me of you."
"You didn't have to do all that."
"I wanted to. Now come," before he could walk away, you pull him down for a kiss. He can feel your appreciation in the way your lips tenderly move against his.
He pulls away and murmurs, "I love you."
"I love you more," you murmur back.
"Nice try, but that's not true. I love you more," he retorts. "Now come, let me show you everything I bought and we can watch a movie."
He picks the bags off the floor and guides you to the couch. You open up your laptop to pick a movie as he shows you everything in the bags. The two of you spend the rest of the day tangled up in each other’s arms.
Sukuna x Fem Reader, Kento Nanami x Fem Reader, Yuji Itadori x Fem Reader
Various scenarios when JJK men push you away when they think you are being too clingy.
Masterlist - Part One w/ Megumi Fushiguro, Hiromi Higuruma, Toge Inumaki, Choso
Hurt - Fluff :3
Sukuna -
Sukuna sighed when he saw you sitting in the dining hall, plate untouched alongside his.
“You don’t always have to wait for me.” He spat as he took the seat across the table.
“It’s really no trouble at all. I enjoy the moments I have with you.” You smiled softly.
He’d been out on some dumb meeting all day with people he’d much rather seen in bloody chunks. Then here he was, wanting nothing more than a quiet meal, but being almost forced to spend time with you. Something that he generally didn’t mind too much, but his irritation was through the roof.
“Maybe you enjoy them too much.” He spat, quietly taking bites of his food.
“Maybe I do.” You trailed off quietly.
Sukuna didn’t say another word the entire meal, and you weren’t going to break the silence. He got up once he was finished abruptly leaving the dining room and heading to his office chambers to fill out a ton of (in his opinion) useless paperwork. You on the other hand typically got seated in the living room to watch a movie with Sukuna, but instead just headed to bed. Upset at his destain for your presence at dinner earlier. Once Sukuna was finished he walked into the living room with two cups of warm tea, ready to wind down for the evening with you.
“Mmm.” His tone was displeased, gathering the attention of Uruame who was dusting the trinkets off the shelf.
“My lord, how may I be of assistance.” They bowed graciously.
“Where is my wife?” Sukuna sounded annoyed.
“In her bed chambers my lord.”
“Not in mine?” His brows furrowed slightly.
Uruame nodded.
Sukuna set the tea on an adjacent table before stomping up the stairs to your designated bed chambers, slamming the door open.
“What is the meaning of this?” Sukuna snarled.
Sukuna noticed that you hadn’t moved, walking over to the bed he could hear the soft sounds of sleep emitting from your mouth. He leaned in further noticing how puffy your face appeared to be, his voice a small whisper “how weak. The need to cry over something so pathetic.”
It did slightly pain him to see you in that condition, as much as he’d never admit it. He took one breath a little too loudly startling you awake, eyes opened and looking straight at him.
“My lord.” You sat up slowly.
Sukuna stood up crossing his arms “you weren’t present for our nightly wind down.”
“I figured you’d just want to be alone.” You muttered sleep still coating your voice.
“I was a bit harsh. I’ll admit that.” Sukuna sighed. He lifted up the blanket you were under sliding into the bed next to you.
“My lord.” You sounded surprised.
“Don’t get used to it.” He muttered, wrapping you in his arms tightly. “Just sleep.”
You didn’t draw any more attention to how gently he was treating you at that moment. Resting your head on his chest and slowly closing your eyes.
“I don’t like it when you are weak.” Sukuna muttered softly, holding you a little tighter. “Do better next time.”
You nodded “I will, my lord.”
Knowing in a weird way that was him apologizing to you. You internally forgave him, only seeking out this comfort for the rest of the night.
Kento Nanami -
At almost nine months pregnant you were becoming almost unbearable to be around. Your husband took it fairly well. He’d come home from a long shift and instantly get to work, preparing dinners, rubbing your feet, and allowing you to make him into your personal teddy bear. Snuggling up to him and wrapping your arms around him as much as you could with the large belly in the way. On this particular day however he’d been reprimanded by his boss at the office, for something that wasn’t even his fault. He just wanted to decompress when he got home. As soon as he walked in the front door you were there to greet him.
“Babe!” You rushed over to give him a large hug,
“Not tonight.” He muttered walking past you without a single ounce of affection in his tone.
“Everything alright?” You asked nervously.
Kento didn’t respond and just walked straight into the kitchen to prepare dinner.
“Ken?” You followed him.
He was on the verge of exploding, and you not giving him space was his final straw “can you just leave me alone for like five minutes?”
His tone was fairly firm and had a hint of pure annoyance.
“Sorry,” you muttered walking out of the kitchen and up to your shared bedroom.
After a while dinner was ready and he called you down “Darling!”
No response.
“Darling, dinner is ready!” He called again.
No response.
Worrying that something serious was going on he rushed up the stairs and into the room. Instantly noticing you curled up in a ball of blankets, and watching some sad movie on the tv.
“Darling?” He quietly asked in the doorway.
Again, you didn’t respond to him. He could hear your soft sniffles while your head was covered by the blanket. He walked into the room sitting on the bed next to you, gently lifting the blanket up.
“Go away.” You muttered pulling the blanket back up.
Kento knew his words may have been a little harsh, but not enough to garner this type of reaction out of you. “Hey, I’m sorry for getting upset earlier.” He sighed “I had a really hard day at work today, and I shouldn’t have taken my anger out on you, I really hope you and the baby can forgive me.”
Glancing over at the sincere expression on his face, you knew you couldn’t stay upset for long.
“I forgive you.” You whispered leaning into him.
“Thank you. I promise this won’t happen in the future.” He did his best to assure you.
“I’ll hold you to that.” You smiled softly as he helped you get up and lead you to the dining room.
Yuji Itadori -
“Yu?” You walked into the quiet dorm. Not getting a response you stepped in further “Yu?”
Finally stumbling upon Yuji, who was fast asleep.
“Yu, it’s noon.” You whispered sitting next to him on the bed.
He groaned slightly, half opening his eyes glancing up at you “(Y/N)?”
“Yu, it's probably time to get up hmm?” You smiled softly
“Go away.” He grumbled.
You pushed a little more snuggling up to his side “we could have some-“
“I slept like shit, leave me alone.” He pushed you away from his body rolling back over.
Feeling his annoyance you decided not to pry further, quietly leaving his dorm with your head down. Walking down the hall Nobara running up behind you.
“(Y/N)!” She smiled brightly, wrapping her arm around your shoulder. Glancing down at your face “are you okay?”
You nod “yeah. Yuji was just in a mood today, and told me to leave him alone.”
Nobara was slightly pissed when she heard that. “Dick. Something I’d expect from Fushiguro, but not Yuji.” She huffed “lets go get some coffee or something.”
You nodded needing something to pick you up out of your damper mood. A few hours later Yuji woke up, still feeling upset. It was the anniversary of his grandfather's death. He’d been so upset he couldn’t sleep the night before, glancing down at his messages hoping he didn’t worry you, realizing there were no new messages. He instantly called you, but it went straight to voicemail. He called again and the same thing happened. Little did he remember that he treated you so poorly earlier in his half awake state. Yuji pulled himself out of his dorm to walk to yours quickly, worried you might be in some sort of trouble. He quickly opened the door finding you sipping a coffee while doomscrolling.
“(Y/N)!” Yuji could feel the relief covering his body. “I’m sorry I slept so late today. I didn’t hear from you and got worried.”
You didn’t respond, essentially ignoring him while looking back down at your phone.
“Are you mad I slept so late?” He asked, confused.
You shook your head.
“Then are you upset at me?”
You nodded.
Yuji was standing there racking his brain, it was a little foggy from all the sleep, among other things swirling in his mind.
“You weren’t very kind to me earlier.” You finally told him.
“Earlier?” Yuji was even more confused “I didn’t see you earlier?”
“I did. I tried to wake you up and you told me to leave you alone.”
Yuji’s heart dropped “I was still asleep. I would’ve never said something like that.” He took a deep breath “I’m sorry.”
You glanced over still not fully convinced “why were you sleeping in so late anyway?”
“It’s the anniversary of my grandfather's passing.” He sighed.
Your face softened. “Aw Yu. I’m so sorry.”
Yuji shook his head “don’t be. I just had a hard time sleeping. Lots to think about. So that’s why I was probably brash towards you earlier.”
Feeling the tears welling up in your eyes you glanced over at him “it’s okay Yu.”
Running over and wrapping him in your arms “next time. When you can’t sleep.” You kissed his cheek softly “call me okay? I want to be there for you.”
Yuji nods, hugging you back tightly.
A/N: I wanted to include Satoru and Suguru but I had a hard time coming up with the scenarios. Please forgive meeeeee :(

synopsis: your older brother suguru doesn’t know that you’re dating his best friend
notes: i’ve been writing so much yuta content that ive neglected my husband. i missed him 💙
The morning air was crisp, the kind of cold that only arrived once winter had fully settled in. Snow hadn't fallen yet, but the chill lingered against the windows, promising it wouldn't be long. Christmas was only a few days away, and your bedroom remained wrapped in darkness, illuminated only by the muted glow of the television quietly playing in the background.
You barely paid attention to whatever was on the screen. It was nothing more than soft noise filling the silence.
Curled against Satoru's chest, you let your eyes drift shut again. His warmth seeped through the blankets and into your body, making it almost impossible to stay awake. He sat comfortably against the headboard while you lay sprawled across him, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. Every now and then, his fingers lazily brushed up and down your back, threatening to lull you back to sleep.
"I should get going before your brother kills me," Satoru murmured, his voice low enough that it blended with the television.
Despite how innocent the words sounded, you caught the unmistakable amusement hiding beneath them.
That was the thing about Satoru. He complained about sneaking around, but a part of him secretly enjoyed it. There was something thrilling about dating his best friend's little sister behind his back. It was reckless, immature, and probably a terrible idea, yet neither of you had ever managed to walk away from it. Love had a funny way of making common sense feel optional.
"He won't be back for another few hours," you mumbled sleepily, nestling even closer against him until your cheek rested over his heart.
Satoru smiled to himself before leaning down to press a lingering kiss against the top of your head.
"I know," he replied. "That's actually the problem. I'm supposed to be meeting him here. It'd be pretty difficult to explain why he found me in his sister's bed."
A laugh escaped you as you pushed yourself upright just enough to look at him.
"Oh, please," you teased. "You'd love for him to catch us. Don't even pretend otherwise."
His lips twitched immediately, the corners of his mouth curling upward despite his best effort to hide it."It would absolutely send his blood pressure through the roof."
"There it is," you laughed, poking his chest. "I knew you couldn't deny it."
Satoru finally gave up the act, a grin spreading freely across his face.
"I never said I wouldn't enjoy watching his reaction." He shrugged with absolutely no shame. "I'm just saying I'd rather survive long enough to see Christmas."
Satoru let out a quiet sigh before throwing the blankets aside and climbing out of bed. Dressed in nothing more than a pair of gray sweatpants, he stretched his arms above his head, his muscles tightening with the movement. You found yourself watching him without meaning to, your gaze drifting from the broad slope of his shoulders down to his waist before you quickly caught yourself.
"You know," you said with a small pout, "you don't have to go. Just cancel the meeting and stay here with me."
You shuffled to the edge of the bed, kneeling on the mattress as you reached out and wrapped your arms around his waist, resting your forehead lightly against his back. The room was still warm from where the two of you had been curled up together, and the thought of him leaving made the cold winter morning feel even colder.
Satoru's shoulders relaxed beneath your touch as he turned to face you. A soft smile tugged at his lips, equal parts affectionate and apologetic.
"If I had it my way," he murmured, gently cupping your face, "I'd stay here with you all day."
He leaned down, pressing a lingering kiss to your lips before resting his forehead against yours for a brief moment.
"But I really do have to go." His thumb brushed lightly across your cheek as he smiled. "Besides, if Suguru shows up and finds me missing, he'll come looking... and I have a feeling this will be the first place he checks."
"And why would my room be the first place he'd check?" you asked, tilting your head as you looked up at him.
A grin slowly spread across Satoru's face, the kind that always gave him away before he even spoke."Because," he said, gently brushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear, "I can't keep my eyes off you."
You rolled your eyes, though the warmth creeping into your cheeks betrayed you. "That's your excuse?"
"It's the truth." He chuckled softly. "The second I walk into a room, and you're in it, everyone else disappears. Suguru's known me long enough to figure that out."
You laughed, shaking your head. "So he'd come straight here."
"He wouldn't even bother checking the rest of the house first," Satoru admitted with a sheepish smile. "He'd take one look around, realize I'm nowhere to be found, and think, 'That idiot's with my sister.'"
You rolled your eyes, unable to hold back a laugh.
"Then why are you worried?" you asked, your arms still looped around his waist. "If he already knows you'll be in here, you might as well stay. Let him walk in and see us."
Satoru barked out a laugh, shaking his head. "You are a terrible influence."
"I learned from the best."
He smiled despite himself before letting out an exaggerated sigh. "If I stay and Suguru catches us..." He paused dramatically, looking toward the bedroom door as if imagining the scene unfolding. "The entire city will probably be in ruins before we're done fighting."
You giggled, unconvinced. "You're exaggerating."
"I really wish I was." He rested his hands on your waist, a grin tugging at his lips. "He'd throw the first punch before I could even explain myself."
"And you'd punch him back."
"Of course I would," Satoru said with a shrug. "I'm not just going to stand there and let my best friend beat me up."
"You'd deserve it."
His jaw dropped in mock offense. "Wow. Taking your brother's side already?"
"I didn't say I was taking his side." You smiled innocently. "I'm just saying... sneaking around with his little sister probably isn't one of your brightest ideas."
"No," Satoru admitted, leaning down until your noses nearly touched. "It definitely isn't."
A mischievous smile spread across his face. "But it's still my favorite one."
"Fine," you huffed dramatically, letting your arms slip from around his waist. "Go. I don't want to be responsible for the city ending up in ruins or my brother murdering you."
Satoru laughed as he reached for the sweatshirt draped over your desk chair and pulled it over his head, his white hair sticking up in every direction before he ran a hand through it. "I'd win that fight."
You snorted. "Whatever you say, Satoru."
"You don't believe me?"
"I believe Suguru would humble you."
He placed a hand over his chest as though you'd personally wounded him. "That is unbelievably disrespectful."
"It's realistic."
Another laugh escaped him as he shook his head. Grabbing the rest of his things, he glanced back to find you already burrowing beneath the blankets again, the warmth he'd left behind quickly fading from the mattress.
"So that's it?" he teased. "You're just going to crawl back into bed after kicking me out?"
"You weren't kicked out," you mumbled into your pillow. "You abandoned me."
"I abandoned you?"
"Yes."
"I seem to remember someone telling me to leave five seconds ago."
"I changed my mind."
Satoru smiled to himself, unable to stop the fondness from creeping onto his face. He crossed the room again and leaned over the bed, brushing his fingers through your hair before pressing one last lingering kiss to your forehead.
"I'll see you later."
You looked up at him from beneath the blankets.
"Right?"
"Yeah." His smile softened, and for a moment all of the teasing disappeared. "I'll come back tonight after Suguru's asleep."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
Satisfied, you smiled and snuggled deeper beneath the covers.
"I'll be waiting."
"And I'll be counting the hours until I get back."
With one last reluctant glance, Satoru slipped out of your bedroom, quietly closing the door behind him, leaving only the soft glow of the television and the lingering warmth of his presence behind.
~~
Satoru made the short trip back to his apartment, slipping inside just long enough to freshen up before meeting Suguru. After splashing cold water on his face and running a hand through his unruly white hair, he opened his closet, only to remember he'd forgotten to do laundry.
He stared at the nearly empty rack for a moment before sighing.
"So much for that."
With no clean clothes left, he reached for the same black sweatshirt he'd been wearing at your house and pulled it back over his head. It still carried the faint scent of your perfume, making the corners of his lips curl into a smile before he shook the thought away.
He grabbed his keys and hurried back outside.
By the time he reached the meeting spot, Suguru was already waiting on the front steps of his house, arms folded across his chest. The moment he spotted Satoru approaching, he pushed himself off the porch and walked down to meet him halfway.
"You're late," Suguru said flatly. "Why is it physically impossible for you to show up on time?"
Satoru only flashed his trademark grin, lacing his fingers behind his head as though he hadn't kept his best friend waiting at all. "Sorry," he replied easily. "I got caught up with something."
Suguru narrowed his eyes. "You always get caught up with something."
"And yet," Satoru said with a shrug, "I still showed up."
"Barely."
"Details."
Suguru sighed through his nose, already feeling a headache coming on. "One of these days, your terrible habits are going to catch up with you."
Satoru laughed, completely unfazed. "Probably."
He fell into step beside Suguru, looking every bit as carefree as always, while Suguru couldn't shake the feeling that something was... off.
His gaze drifted toward Satoru's sweatshirt. "...Didn't you wear that yesterday? You should really do better with your hygiene."
Satoru's smile stiffened for the briefest fraction of a second before returning as if nothing had happened. "Maybe."
"You smell different."
"Huh?"
Suguru frowned. "You smell like..." He paused, trying to place it. "...Vanilla."
Satoru instinctively glanced down at his sweatshirt.
Your perfume.
...Crap.
"I like vanilla," Satoru said a little too quickly, offering an easy grin as if that explained everything.
Suguru didn't smile. "No."
His brows knitted together as he stepped closer, his expression twisting into one of confusion. "It smells like..." He paused, taking another breath before his face slowly hardened. "...my sister."
Satoru felt his stomach drop. "...What?"
"My sister's room," Suguru said, grimacing. "She burns those vanilla candles every single day. That scent is everywhere in there."
For the first time that morning, Satoru's confidence faltered.
Of all the perfumes...
He forced out a laugh that sounded far less convincing than he intended. "Maybe it's my detergent."
"We use different detergent."
"...Fabric softener?"
"We don't use the same brand."
Satoru rubbed the back of his neck. "Huh. Weird coincidence."
Suguru's eyes lingered on him for another long moment, unconvinced. "You've been acting strange lately."
"I've always acted strange."
"Not like this."
A brief silence settled between them.
Suguru crossed his arms, studying his best friend with narrowed eyes. "You've been disappearing at odd hours, showing up late to everything, and now you smell exactly like my sister's bedroom."
Satoru could practically hear alarm bells ringing in his head.
Stay calm. Don't overthink it. Just act natural.
"I think you're reading too much into it."
"Am I?"
"Definitely."
Suguru continued staring at him, waiting for even the smallest crack in his composure.
Satoru smiled right back.
After another few seconds, Suguru exhaled through his nose and looked away.
"...Fine."
Relief washed over Satoru, but he didn't let it show.
That was way too close.
As they started walking, Suguru spoke again, almost absentmindedly.
"You know..."
"Hm?"
"If I ever found out someone was sneaking around with my sister behind my back..."
Satoru swallowed. "...Yeah?"
"I'd kill him."
His tone was calm, far too calm.
There wasn't a hint of humor in it. Satoru kept his smile firmly in place, though it suddenly felt much harder to wear.
