Here is a video that I made about my dad. It is an interview that takes place between him and I, mostly me trying to see it from his perspectives with the little understanding I have of what its like to be an African alien. As a first generation Nigerian American seeing the film Brother from Another Planet (1984) allowed me to consider the black male’s perspective as an Black alien. After watching I immediately thought of my dad and from there I decided to work with the film to present his story. I quickly learned will editing the interview that the view of his new life story, coming to the America, was limited and became even more limited when it existed in a digital format such as this. I learned that his experience is nothing but words of the past that now inform his and our present. To create this I combined clips of the audio of the interview with the music in the film along with clips of the video of the film that would better present my vision of what I could make sense of. The eye in the begining is like his eye be given to me.
