"Sweetheart?" Finnick's voice grew closer. "Where are you?"

When you don't respond, he flings open the bedroom door only to find you curled up in a corner of the room, next to the closet. You sobbed quietly, tears blurring your vision as you tried to turn the next page of your book.

"Oh," he whispered, crouching down in front of you. "Oh, honey," he cooed, his voice sticky with endearment. "Are you okay?"

"No," you cried, raising your hand to wipe away your tears, but Finnick was faster, thumbing them away with his own slender fingers.

He gave you a sympathetic smile. "Something happen in your book?"

"Yeah," you murmured, voice breaking. Finnick's heart quite literally cracked in his chest, even though he logically knew you were okay.

"I'm sorry," he replied, soft and quiet. He hesitated, but only for a second. "Do you want a hug?"

Nodding, you collapsed in his arms. His hugs were the best. He always knew just how much pressure you needed. His hand swept up and down your back in an attempt to calm you down.

You buried your head into his chest, sniffling every so often. "I'm sorry," you managed, laughing wetly. "I know it's silly."

Finnick pushed you away, but only so that he could see your face. "It's not silly," he said seriously. "You can cry, okay?"

You gave him a small smile. "Okay."

He hugged you again, but it was shorter than the first and you were suddenly lifted onto the bed. The loss of contact was only evident for a second before he curled into bed with you, wrapping you up in his arms.

"You wanna tell me about it?" He whispered, pressing a kiss to the side of your neck.

You turned around to face him, and he adjusted to make more room for you. "Maybe later," you mumbled, "I'm tired. Just wanna be here with you, if that's okay?"
