This happened idk how many tens of chapters ago but I've been rotating it in my mind ever since.

Kim Soleum calls him an “ideal” Daydream employee because his traits align with their ideology (he’s selfish, does everything for personal gain, climbs over others, etc.).

His surname, Baek (백), matches the first syllable of Baekilmong, 백일몽 (“Daydream Inc.”). The hanja for 백 usually reads as “white” (白).

We all know Daydream Inc. is a pharmaceutical company. Since antiquity, the snake has symbolized pharmacy—coiled around a cup or bowl—and you still see it on storefronts, prescription bags, and professional insignia. There are also “feathered serpents,” which is interesting because, in the Jisan Village arc, Saheon had a feather pinned to his shirt.

Soleum’s test-subject name is 130666, and some fans noticed that if you sum the digits, 1+3+0+6+6+6 = 22 → 2+2 = 4. In Korea and other Asian countries, 4 is considered worse luck than 13 and is associated with death. Soleum’s birthday is also Sept 13th, and 13 → 1+3 = 4!

This is where it gets interesting: in Korean, 4 is 사 (sa), the same syllable in 백사헌 (Baek Saheon). "Sa” is also homophonous with “death.”

Around ch. 220, Soleum stumbles into a bunker of the Church of the Luminous Unknown. Braun oddly comments how there are no goats, sacrifices, or pentagrams (the usual “devil” symbols). Searching for a way out, they discover the bunker is right underneath Jisan Village—right where Saheon's from! The well there also turns out to be a sort of portal between places. Coincidence? I think not!

Saheon is a classic “white/black lotus” or “haraguro” (하라구로) character: nice and polite on the outside, but scheming (sometimes wicked, even) on the inside. Recently, they released official gsgw merch that included the employee orientation notebook with the line that said: “Act as Baekilmong-in, with strict ethics and a sense of social responsibility.” Ironic, isn’t it? Daydream couldn’t be further from ethics and responsibility. But it strangely fits Saheon’s vibe: white and “ethical” on the outside, shady on the inside, being able to easily turn on you at any time.

Saheon also pops up in almost every arc—Manor of the Blind, Mountain Lodge, Tamra, Mermaid’s Tomb (even the current one)!

And a final interesting detail: I saw tweets saying Soleum’s silver ring has a snake pattern. I don’t personally remember this, but in Dark Exploration Records, Soleum’s current ring belonged to an unidentified employee who had been in Segwang High, Tamra, and Segwang City. Could it be Baek Saheon (or his some kind of alternate self)?

I definitely saw more interesting details, but I’ll stop here before this spirals into something huge and I go down the rabbit hole with it, lol. Hope this was fun and gave you some things to think about ☺️

I'd like to think KSE not getting spiteful or vengeful easily is just his own personality. That's how I'd like to interpret the restriction in 208 that said to preserve his original identity. Like he did get pretty mad at Lee Heoun and then felt really miserable about it, in that way people who aren't used to feeling mad at other people can be.

But that said I feel like KSE and his trials, as horrible as they have been, honestly have nothing on what og KSE has been going through…

I'm gonna call it the "Clark Kent effect" or "(detective) Conan effect". It didn't work on the Bureau members, but it worked on Saheon really well.

Adding on to that, his denial phase must be pretty strong. I mean, a psychopath who finds my pain & suffering entertaining (and probably wants to torture me whenever I'm around him) is the SAME GUY as the most selfless & kindest agent from the bureau, an organization for saving people's lives.

Then again he recognized Agent Bronze just by his shitty attitude so he's pretty attentive.

Let me think, the agent messages him months after jisan, he doesn't see kse again till he's forced to join Director Ho's project. The conversation with the agent had to have made the truth somewhat obvious but he drops the conversation and doesn't try asking again, when he meets The Agent disguised as a researcher he reaches for his eye patch but seems to change his mind.

Why would he do that?

This guy who trusts nothing and no one. If he thought the agent wasn't kse why not look at him with his purple eye? Because he suspects it's kse and because he's terrified of it being true. When he sees the researcher who kse disguised himself as and tries to talk to him? Only to find out he wasn't really The Agent? What a slap to the face.

But now I can see it.

For starters, Kim Soleum genuinely enjoys terrorizing Baek Saheon??? He likes putting him in his place????? Those are his exact words???????? He developed a sadistic streak exclusively for Baek Saheon's benefit.

Also, Kim Soleum can ALWAYS tell what Baek Saheon is thinking. Can predict everything Baek Saheon will do (this leads me to believe I'm Viper was his Favorite DER character)

Baek Saheon LIKES Kim Soleum's personality. He was so taken by ''Agent Grape'' 😭 he still thinks about him months after meeting him. Had Kim Soleum not decided to psychologically torture him, I'm pretty sure Baek Saheon would be right there with all the other men of gsgw, trying to pry him away from Braun's tender grip.

When Baek Saheon got a special pen that allowed him to hypnotize people he hypnotized Kim Soleum into not noticing him 😭 he's so scared of him he didn't take advantage of it, didn't even humiliate him or make him do his bidding.

Kim Soleum gave him an eye to replace the one he lost💕

I think we don’t talk enough about the fact that Kim soleum gave baek saheon his eye after being the reason the he lost it in the first place. Every time he looks in his reflection he will see that eye he got as a “gift”. Every time he is reminded of him. Does he despise him? I don’t know The only thing I know is that he is undoubtedly linked to him through this eye. like, the same eye is also the reason that he can always identify kim soleum (beside the one time he didn’t realised his crush was his evil roommate and he went in deep denial). In a way he is attuned to him and only him and I love that about them. (And let’s not talk that despise his fake persona Kim soleum actually ENJOYS to bully him specifically and also always saves him and gives him good items) (and then there is the whole agent grapes situation where bsh realises who he is but does NOT want to acknowledge is till the end and still tried to help him and give advice through the stupid paper boat (after waiting 6 months for an answer and then instantly replying ) and when Kim soleum came as himself to him for help in +350 so that he could draw cards for this weird candle he also instantly helped him and was lowkey worried about him and then in the last chapter he brought the remaining juice for the wish ticket even with his main trait being a selfish egoist)

I know that this ship is not as popular as others but for me, I love the dynamic between them cause the show each other a side of themself nobody knows about.
