she felt awfully familiar. or perhaps it was the costume, similar to the one he’s seen his lil brother going around as of late, wondering if it was some kind of new fashion trend he wasn’t aware of. kids these days, always trying to find the weirdest things to turn into trends… even if pajamas never sounded like a bad idea, now that he thought about it. “ you’re… dave’s friend, right? ” the doubt kind of lingered in his tongue. something felt wrong. probably it was still that morning’s coffee. “ he went getting hot pockets and cheetos because apparently his daily fuel has come to an end earlier than expected, but he’s gonna be back soon. waiting outside ain’t the best thing so come in. ”

     Your name is   JADE  HARLEY ,   you have just woken from a restful nap, and as usual, you feel like you FORGOT something.  But, what ever could it be ?  After all, you have quite a number of  INTERESTS  and  ODD ACTIVITIES .   So much in fact, you have pair of   FAKE  DOG  EARS   as a quirky accessory to accompany your  GREAT ADORATION  for  BIG FLUFFY DOGS .  Nevertheless, when you spend time at your lovely little florist occupation the only thing on your mind is your deep passion for HORTICULTURE . 

       As far as you can remember,  you’ve lived in this   CITY  OF  SPIRALS   all your life with your awesomely cool  GRANDPA  and your big dork of a BROTHER  who’s obsession with  NIC CAGE is mildly concerning. Oh !  Silly, you never even said his name, well as mentioned , his name is  JOHN ,  you’ve also had a  DOG  named  BEC ,   but recently you don’t know where in the city he could possibly be . As you were growing up you and your brother frequently found yourself with  ROSE  and  DAVE  who ended up being the  BEST FRIENDS  you could ask for and nothing could ever tear you guys apart .

“ turbo-harley making its great return, well if ain’t that a christmas miracle, move away ritchie rich, we’ve got some business here. ” of course it was a way of his to hide any form of second hand embarrassment given by the fact jade was seeing him in his slacks and tanktop and he hadn’t even thought of giving himself a fix ━but he didn’t even know she was visiting so he guessed he was safe, right? “ i mean i’ve never… really celebrated christmas and you can’t call shaping a mass of weapon into a three and throwing some ikea candles on it a tree ━according to rose my preteen obsession with it was given by the too many marathons of that one christmas movie with woopi goldberg which let me tell you, it’s a great movie, ten out of ten would still watch that━, and birthdays are a social construct, which totally sounds like the shitty excuse it’s suppose to be. ” cue a sigh. “ sorry. didn’t mean to miss your birthday. ”

there’s a slump in his voice an an ever bigger slump in the way he dragged himself at the door at the pounding of entrance door and constant bell ringing ━unsure how the place was still holding together, spirale shenanigans he guessed━, the sensitive albino eyes in a squint as there was too much light the moment he turned the handle and he wasn’t sure if it was the goddamn sun or harley’s smile. “ jade, ah━━you could have called. what is it? ”

no chill could unsettle him from his burning resolve; no prickling winds of winter promising to do its near best to freeze him from the outside in could deter him into adopting anything other than the clothes he wore upon his back. he changed in his own time; forging only the monochrome straps and wind-billowed cape when it suited him, never bending to the whims of weather and certainly not to the suggestions of mere strangers. he did not feel the cold, not as one would expect, perhaps it was indeed due to how how his blood boiled, a rage eternally roasting him internally, or perhaps he was merely used to it. a form such as his, well it was only a wonder. 

still, the point of the matter was that he did not expect anyone to even care, since caring himself was beyond comprehensible. so when he was approached and green eyes slid from the horizon to the young girl’s face, surprise although in its infancy still drew him from his thought and actually saw him engage in conversation, as opposed to merely walking away in silence. you know, the usual breath of response he offered. 

“ you can keep it. “ lacking anger, or even elation, sephiroth’s tone was always some deep, flat line of sound, low enough to tremble the earth should he raise it, but there and then he was calm. things were improving, after all. there were few reasons to make a fuss. but he was not in the business of sharing kindness, nor even to make a friend or two. in fact, it was only in his own strange, abstract sense of humour that he continued to talk, finding amusement in it as odd as it was. “ leather is capable of withstanding winter, for far longer than your cups of coffee. “ he glanced over her visage. seemingly nothing of relevance or difference to the rest of the flecks of humanity scattered there. but appearances were nearly always misleading.

  laced with a lining of astonishment ,   her snow white ears flick upwards at his tone the lack of empathy or was it more aloof ?  regardless, she paid hardly any mind as her keen senses noticed the tinges of flummox that waved over his face. the witch took it as her cue to equally share her own crude jokes into the playing field.

❝  if you say so, i’ll just be enjoying my nicely heated caffeinated drink while your leather attire slowly becomes near gelid due to the molecules of a liquid get so cold that they slow down enough to hook onto each other, forming a solid crystallized version of it -- in which most people call ice !  i guess in your case the liquid would be due to the natural perspiration that the human body secretes in order to keep your organs in top shape oh and leather is made to accelerate perspiration due to its smooth texture being similar to that of skin !! the color black does help absorb more heat from the sun but it also hold in the cold equally as well--- as you can see it’s late and the sun is already gone--- so i insist.  ❞     the witch lets off a giggle as she pulls up the coffee cup to her lips for a sip and still hold up the other cup to him.

          CHARMING IN HER WAY !  The space weaver was a companion of those who dwelled in clockwork. There was certain synergy between them, like and unlike forces operating beside one another. Not to mention she was quite fond of the witch although her cheery exterior might lead other people to believe otherwise. With an exhale, she grins at the younger girl unfazed by her keen sense of smell. 

         ❛ I’m afraid that’s part of the job description, dear. ❜ The multiverse had its own plans and she a willing handmaiden to its whims. Although, at times it was unclear where the true control lay. When sure hands could pierce the skin of reality so readily. Who was to say where or what she would be next ?  ❛ Funny you would mention, David. He recently started working for me. I never knew he was such an accomplished pianist. ❜ O’ but she had, yet the foresight was not enough to curb her amusement.

  coloring her with specks of bashfulness ,    aware she couldn’t exactly blame elizabeth for her disappearances since the woman respected the lines of the time . . .  very much unlike the girl who was made to bend & break space to her will and to rebel against it’s logic.

         WE ARE BUT ORBITING PLANETS ! A gravitational pull that kept both women perfectly aligned with one another. The time was midday and the restaurant slowed to a stagnant lull between dining hours. Outside of the luxury establishment in the winter chill she stands. The biting cold hardly a deterrent from the promise of smoke so readily filling her lungs. As she exhales the witch makes her grand appearance. Difficult to miss, clad in deep ebony with snow white ears nestled in herequally dark hair. 

       ❛ Sweet of you to pay me a visit, Miss Harley. ❜ Ruby lips curl into a knowing smile. She had her suspicious as to how the young god had found her way here but she was not so rude to assume, or rather to peek too far into the affairs of others. ❛ How did you know I was back ? ❜ 

  of stardust and broken clockwork ,    like the hands of a celestial grandfather clock that never passes it’s mark. the witch found herself staring at a midnight locks, immersed the familiarity of expensive perfume and cigarettes paired with a honey-drowned tone. heel-to-toe she sprung into a skip frantically waving with the tips of her fingers to match the pacing of her breath.

And it’s familiar, even if the voice calling his name has a higher pitch and lilt than most of the swords back in the citadel. He folds his hands on top of the desk, leather sliding seamlessly into place as he clicks into his new role as health consultant once again.

If she’s secretly laughing at him, he doesn’t mind. Wasn’t that supposed to be good for health, too?

‘I’m learning a bit more about you than our first encounter.’ Cold, wet, dark. He hadn’t even caught the color of her eyes then, but here they were listed neatly in a line on her file.
