how your experience? how helpful? how you like them? complaints? if financial not an issue, is there anything would change to yours / get different model? which model/brand you have, if feel comfortable tell at any specificity (e.g. permobil/comfort company basic wing + swing away hardware)? relevant disability symptoms / reason for need, n whether it help, if comfortable w share?

does it help you stop go too much side to side? can it act as thing lean against? help body from flop over in front?

am specifically looking at permobil for self & get really confuse at functional difference between all basic & premium shapes & hardware options, not able try them on n no ATP help. but experience of any brand greatly help

The seperate ones also give you more options on where to mount them. And you can have them different heights on each side. I find the higher they are on my rib cage the better but other people prefer them lower or even on the hip. If you need a bigger support area the built in ones are less weight. The seperate ones have their own bolts each side so are heavier.

how you deal with sweat??

like hot days with thighs smooshed together n butt on thick foam n fabric/gel/etc & back against thick foam n fabric. sticky n bad sensory n smell bad n overall 0/10 am suffering so much n it only near june

daily showers not feasible + even w deodorant it not work well. live in place w no default central aircon at home

especially on tumblr, when people think of AAC, they only think of high tech, symbol based, and without any assistive technology. it doesn't just start and end with apps! there is so many options <3 (heart). and i think it is really cool that theres so many creative solutions to access communication!

i also think it's important not to limit in our heads, what a certain disability aid looks like, and who uses it and why. in my experience on this website, not many people include spellers, Deaf or blind (or both) AAC users, and AAC users with motor related disabilities (who can't press buttons on a screen), and a lot of other types of AAC users (racialized AAC users are especially left out, or kicked out, no matter what kind of AAC they use).

i truly believe from the bottom of my heart that all AAC users can learn and benefit from each other. i think we need each other. its an ecosystem, not a monoculture.

It’s almost always queer spaces that take “ambulatory wheelchair users exist!” to mean that a venue with a step (or even multiple steps) is wheelchair accessible because the wheelchair user can just get up while someone lifts their (small, manual) wheelchair up the step.

Or, even worse (like the “inclusive” salon my friend wanted to go to) they call a space with absolutely no wheelchair access “accessible” because they have fidget toys.
