This is the ONLY “We don’t need Batman” post I will EVER consider valid.

“Who are you to stand so fearsome
With your wavy locks of auburn hair and eyes of emerald green?”
Quoth the woman, “I’m Jolene”

Terry Pratchett got knighted by the Queen for writing books about characters that range from somewhat unimpressed about royalty (Granny Weatherwax) to someone who intensely hates the entire concept of royalty in the first place (Sam Vimes).
Honestly, it’s like a plot point out of a Discworld novel.
You forgot to add that he felt compelled to make a sword that contains a chunks of meteor. He dug up the ore and smelted it himself.
What. A. Legend.
This one was a smooch meme request for me because these two are canon imo and I miss them! 💜

As for the greater picture…well, I thought there’d be nothing to it. Slap down a few additional continents. Fretwork some fjords. Sprinkle on some cities, steppes and forests. Jot down the traditional features that Terry referred to as ‘the good old wiggly river between the pointy mountains,’ paste on the names, and I’d be home and looking for a clean towel. In fact, it took a lot more time than that.
I showed draft number one to Terry, who looked at it for some time and said, ‘Do you know what a rain shadow is?’ This was new to me, who took raffia instead of geography. I was given a short lecture on mountain ranges and prevailing rain-bearing winds, which gently led up to the fact that I’d put the Great Nef the driest place in the world, in what would have been a very large swamp. I spent some time reading up on the subject until I could bore people on the subject of plate tectonics and even knew what a drumlin was. Then I tried to make it all work.

Terry Pratchett: *mentions the Forest of Skund a couple times in canon, making it sound like it’s in two very different places on the Disc, then decides retroactively that it’s magic and kind of moves around in order to account for this apparent inconsistency*
Also Terry Pratchett: You can’t put mountains there and a desert there because the winds go in this direction and that would make the desert wet.
All joking aside I’m just forever impressed he thought about these kinds of things at all, but I shouldn’t be surprised because by all accounts he thought about these kinds of things all the time and did incredible amounts of research for every single book. Discworld books are fantasy but very realistic even so.)
I love Pratchett so very much and I somehow find it simultaneously hilarious and incredibly fitting (and relatable, honestly) that Pratchett was being a stickler on rain shadows and wind/weather patterns on his flat Discworld, with water pouring over the side of the disc, on the back of 4 elephants, standing on a turtle swimming through space. (I’m also incredibly tickled that Stephen Briggs got so deep in his research that he started learning about glacial landforms that would absolutely not show up on a map of this scale XD )
I’m still quite proud of my tribute to Stephen Brigg’s map that I made as a gift for @lysislien (even if I did make an error in lettering that someone pointed out to me far too late… but I did put that it was an inaccurate map in the title block, so really what can you expect?)
The Turtle Swims! GNU Terry Pratchett!
……..this dichotomy between the issue of the Forest of Skrund and the issue of the rain shadow that would leave the Great Nef in a swamp is so very much the sort of thing my wife would do that I am howling
