CW: stalking, palm reading (researched so it may be wrong, don't nerf me), and slight mentions of weapons, nothing graphic.
He didn't know why or what he was thinking attaching himself to someone so weak and pathetic.
Technically he wasn't, but his strength compared to a spider was small and pointless and would barely made a dent if it were to be a physical fight.
Not like he'll run into one anyways, Feitan made sure his missions were away from troupe locations or where members may reside, at times he tampered with the missions to keep his little fascination alive.
Silly it was, he was unsure how and when this started...a year? Two years? All he remembered was the young man had bumped into him and apologized like if he was held at knife point, even if he wasn't under that predicament, even when Feitan hadn't even brought out the hidden dagger he used to keep little insects away that had no place in his image of the world.
Maybe it was the uniform? The way his hair seemed to be well taken care of despite the job he had? The way he seemed to blend in? How pathetic he was in Feitan's eyes?
All he knew was he just loved watching him fight, even if he was weak compared to him, even if this guy had no idea he was being watched.
His senses were always off.
Guess that's why it was easier to watch over him. Maybe easier to let his fingers run through his hair. Maybe easier to beside him as if they were an actual couple and let his hand trace out small faint scars that were visible from previous fights.
Feitan never went farther than that, no. He didn't want to scare off his favorite little thing, and he was so jumpy too.
He didn't bother with kidnapping...he seemed smart despite being visibly plain in looks and personality. Feitan knew he wouldn't fold but that was fine, he had other methods that wouldn't scare him off.
Right now, he watched him from within the trees, sitting on a branch as he watched his little demon slayer talk about the mission that finished a day ago. He and his partner were from a group of five, tragically, they came out of that mission as a pair.
"So, what do you plan on once you get home? I figured I would go to the market, heard they have some fortune teller and wanted to check it out for fun. Even if it may not be real" the fish continued to grill above the fireplace, hoping the small conversation can lift up his partner's spirit.
The guy stared off before coming back to reality, eyes moving from the little wisps of fire flying after the wood crackled, to his partner's eyes, and to his lap.
"Maybe just rest up" going quiet he wondered why of the goal, "Why do you want to go to a fortune teller?"
"I want to see if I'll ever meet my special someone" quick to answer he was, he'd been wanting to know if he was cut out for love, risking that he may spend useless money on a fake.
"Silly I know but...been wanting to know in case I am to retire from the corp, or when Muzan is defeated and we can live normal lives, I can spend my time with her...or him" he smiled at his fish thinking of the possibilities of who he'd be his complimentary half.
The fire crackled and his partner looked at him like he just said he was going bald, before he laughed making his partner's face turn red in embarrassment.
"HA! Murata you're such a damn sap!" he slapped his knee a couple of times before falling back. "Hey what's wrong with what I said?? I bet yours isn't any different-".
As laughing and yelling happened below him, Feitans eyes quirked up a bit.
Maybe he'd eavesdrop on the session, and depending on what the results were for the slayer, he'd "accidentally" bump into him, and from there maybe taking him to eat somewhere or a random area to just talk together would bring Murata closer to him.
Murata obliviously walked around the markets until he found the so-called fortune teller. After paying a decent price, nothing too expensive, he sat across this lady.
Color pallet of purples and blues, bits of gold, striking eyes that lit up as if expecting him.
"Mmm...yes, yes. You have it written all over you young man," her eyes raked up and down to see if this was the guy she'd sensed for ages, "You're very well protected I will grant you that".
Blinking a couple times, he tilted his head in confusion.
Had she really been waiting for him? Why? And what did she mean by that?
"You already know what I wanted to ask..?" she nodded, hands reaching out, jingles of her gold jewelry following while Murata outstretched his hand.
"..Yes. While many people came today for money or how long they'll live or to fix their relationship...you're the first to want to find love. Funny when young girls would be the ones I expect" she felt the lines of his palm, smooth and almost delicate despite wielding a sword.
"Living happily...Hm, not expecting much from the other party I see, nice seeing someone who won't be prissy over their partner's choices, quick to think and move in terms of danger, mmm can't say that one...it'll ruin your thinking and mindset" he tensed, assuming it was a bad thing.
"Don't be silly you'll be okay; it's a path that shouldn't be messed with. Now, I can't exactly tell you who you'll meet and when, but I can say as I said before; you are well protected. More than you think. And you've crossed paths before, maybe you'll cross again".
"..uh..is that all..?" he didn't want to pry but he almost hoped to get more, but he knew even the most skilled can't predict such detailed things. "Yes now out, I have more customers" she moved her hands, shooing him with her jingles.
"Yes-! Thank you!" he bowed his head quickly and stood, nearly tripping over the pillow he sat on "Try not taking my furniture out with you yeah! It was very expensive!" she yelled out as he was already out of the tent, weaving past people as it had gotten crowded.
She sighed and stared at the spot of the missing presence that was beside the tent, "Only good thing is he'll keep him away from his life...actually treat him decently".
"Excuse me! Sorry! Sorry! Ow- sorry!" elbowing and getting elbowed was the worst thing to happen in crowds. At some point he found an opening to an alleyway and managed to be able to have a breather.
"So crowded...what even is the occasion for this..?" he spoke to no one in particular, just himself.
He tensed hearing a hum and footsteps, a red umbrella going over his head before the rain drops can fall on him and the man next to him.
"..Festival" Feitan murmured out, watching people push around harder to get inside a building to wait for the rain to clear before the festival began.
"A festival? Huh...explains the fireworks at the entrance of town" it still didn't process through his mind that he was under an umbrella with someone and froze upon realizing, feeling like the person only stayed out of kindness because Murata would get soaked.
"Sorry if I'm taking your time! I bet you have somewhere to be-" he stopped when he looked at the man a few inches shorter than him.
Had he seen him before...?
"..You..talk much. Annoying..." his eyes flickered up, but his gaze held no annoyance nor indifference, as if they were almost fond. "Sorry! Uh, have we met before?" his voice nearly went to a whisper, as if prepping himself to be told to shut up.
Feitan thought for a moment, trying to think of what moment to bring up. Either when Murata fell, or when he was nearly kicked in the face by Shizuku when he was on the floor.
"Fell...clumsy" he spoke after some time; Murata had relaxed in relief after being in silence for nearly ten minutes.
"I hate that that is your first impression of me" he nearly whined in secondhand embarrassment looking away as his cheeks reddened.
"...Entertaining" he never noticed he stood closer, shoulders nearly brushing.
"Really? Thought maybe that would've drawn you away" he gave a nervous lopsided smile, slowly getting comfortable with him, "What's your name?".
"...Feitan" Murata just smiled brighter, hoping deep down this was the guy, "I'm Murata! Nice meeting you!".
"No" it came out muffled, but still audible, making the slayer furrow his brows in confusion.
He nearly jumped when Feitan turned to him and leaned close to his face, carefully backing him against the wall, "You...mine".
"...Wait what- WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT- We just met!" his face reddened more, so much it can compete with Tanjiro's hair color and win.
"Don't care...you mine" Feitan wasted no time, he knew, oh he knew Murata would resort to ideas like dates and getting to know each other. Yes, he expected his blunt confession to not work, and they wouldn't magically get together, so why not make him to think on the spot.
"Maybe a date? How about a date? A movie? Cafe? I can pay for everything- oh you're very close.." he gulped, eyes darting everywhere but Feitan.
"Mn...fine. Friday...one" he shoved a paper in Murata's chest pocket of his uniform, his address.
"No late.." and he disappeared in the rain, leaving the slayer to soak and think about what just happened.
This lowkey buns cuz I wrote this on a whim and a Caprison, but I've been pulling crossover ships out of my ass for years, this one sorta makes sense if you think about it. Feitan does seem the type to keep personal-personal things hidden unless Chrollo himself had him speak because...You know...the leader and everything.
Point is Murata x Feitan is growing on me.
