I see a lot of people that read romance and romantasy saying that booktok has killed romance and yearning etc, but then they describe how they want the characters to be in agony pining over each other for most of the book only to get together in the last chapter and I’m like that’s great. I also like that occasionally. But I would also like an actual romance novel / series that is not solely based on yearning (aka unhealthy limerence and obsession) but actually shows the reality of two people getting together as a couple and having to face the trials and tribulations and whatever life throws at them and their relationship (be it a disagreement or physical distance or something like war crimes idgaf) and then continually choose each other again and again and fall more deeply in love each time until it sends them both insane and sane and the happily ever after is ‘and after this and this and you snoring at my side’
