This is not how I wanted to spend my New Year’s Eve. It was almost midnight; we were running out of time and also running out of space in the backyard. It hadn’t snowed yet, and the ground wasn’t even frozen. My cousin brought me a gift. “That’s a first! But thanks!” It was a bone saw, like the ones used in autopsies. We made a resolution to not chop up too many bodies in the New Year. But…with my new love, the bone saw, the job may not be as much of a challenge!

Clammy palms, my shaky finger rang the doorbell. I’ve been dreading coming to this New Year’s Eve party. OMG! Door – opened – gorgeous guy – love at first sight. “Huh? Wha–? Cuz? I was a stuttering fool. Gorgeous smiled brightly, taking the bottle of champagne that I brought, “Come on in. Thanks, but I’m the dezo tonight.” My cousin hadn’t put away the Christmas decorations yet. “Yo, cuz, look up!” Mistletoe! Great – I get to keep my resolution to meet a gorgeous guy this year, before midnight, and I get my first kiss! Awesome – a new challenge for the New Year!

My cousin said she knew him, and waved him over, She told me he was wealthy, he drove a Range Rover. Maybe it’ll be our first kiss, I’m inexperienced, his lips I may miss. She was mean and said, ‘He’s ostentatious, it won’t last.’ I don’t care, I’m up for the challenge, but I have to work fast.
