I will reiterate over and over again that chronically ill and disabled people have always existed. We have evidence Neanderthals took care of members of their community who became disabled after a serious injury or were born with disabilities like Down Syndrome. Yes, many more illnesses ‘just killed you’ before modern medicine but the lack of modern medicine meant there were even more people struggling with chronic ill health. Institutionalization and the stigma around discussing disabilities and illnesses is the reason you think there were fewer people with disabilities and chronic health concerns, not reality. Bad backs, bad lungs, bad stomachs, mobility issues, poor eyesight, poor hearing, countless other things that range from mild annoyances to serious life-limiting disabilities. We have always existed. Pretending like there was a time in history where a sizable portion of the human population wasn’t chronically ill or disabled is historical revisionism.
We should always be thinking “How do we make the world better for disabled people and how can we prevent acquired disabilities like post-viral chronic illness and lifelong injuries from things like motor vehicle accidents?” and not “How do we stop disabled people from surviving and existing in public?”
‘Survival of the fittest’ never referred to survival of only the most healthy and robust individuals, it is about an organism’s ability to adapt. Humans are social creatures. You can be the most genetically sound and physically fit human being on earth and if you break your leg and there is no one to help you, you die. Caring for our most vulnerable, sick and/or weak community members is a core part of what it means to be human and if we didn’t not have that drive, we’d go extinct.
If you regret a permanent body alteration you got and your immediate thought is "raise the legal age for everybody who can do this" instead of "Maybe I, specifically, was a dipshit" you need to get Gotten by a mountain lion
yall, sowing: haha hell yeah awesome!!!
yall, reaping: I was manipulated into sowing. sowing should be illegal for everyone under the age of 21. if you sow you were probably groomed and abused. most farmers are abusive and trying to coerce non-farmers into sowing at every opportunity

Everyone on tumblr has Conditions. maladies. I log onto tumblr and my mutuals are unwellposting. Conditions I didn't even know existed and sound like dark curses but I will see a post from friend like "died about 60% today, fine now. Made egg on toast #yummytoast". There are so many people in this world with life experiences
That's it!
You worried for nothing.
i just wanted to clarify some things
artists know the risk they are taking when they post their art online. people are inevitably going to take it apart, color edit it, flip it around or otherwise post it uncredited.
saying that an artist shouldn’t post their work if they don’t want it bastardized is probably the stupidest stance on this subject you could take. if all artists followed this line of reasoning, there would be no art on the internet.
when an artist posts their work, they are trusting you to enjoy it respectfully. and when you betray that trust either knowingly or unknowingly, it’s like saying the artist’s time, skills and thoughts aren’t worth anything.
you are NOT entitled to an artists work just because they decided to trust you enough to share it with you.
an artist is within their right to feel upset that someone has used their work in a way they never intended it to be used. they are within their right to ask for it to stop and not happen again.
just because it’s “bound to happen” doesn’t mean it’s any less deplorable.

Say you break your ankle. You could know everything there is to know intellectually about the injury. Even with this vast knowledge, you will still experience physical pain.
Now take this logic and apply it to things like ADHD, autism, clinical depression, and other less visible/divergent disabilities. You cannot think your way out of feeling.
That is to say: you are not a bad, lazy, or selfish person for struggling, even if you know why you are struggling.
Genuinely, thank you so much for this.
Day 28 of “Dragon d’Avril”: Tigré! (Stripped)
A bit of roundness and simplicity today…
Children MUST have the right to transition. Even if the regret rate ended up at 49%, an extremely unrealistic number, it would do more good than harm.
"But HRT causes irreversible changes to the body" bitch so does puberty.
If you think otherwise, it shows that you value cis people's feelings more than trans people's lives.
I am truly sorry if you, personally, have regretted all or parts of your own transition. I know what dysphoria is like, believe me, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But you do not get to take that out on trans kids.
