Joey doesn’t particularly react nor think much of the title – If anything, it’s almost endearing in a sense – But that isn’t his focus right now. Not one bit. Instead, his hands rest on his hips, giving a mock serious look.

“ Don’t go leaving me hanging – What’s this about? ”

“’Updog’ is a setup for a joke--the goal is to get someone to respond with ‘What’s updog?’ and respond with something like ‘Not much, what’s up with you?’ “

“I guess it’s a bit of a dumb joke, but if you can get someone to fall for it, it’s pretty funny--especially if it never quite clicks.”

“(SNRK)--OH My God, he didn’t--Uncle Drew, pleaSE--”

Henry was really on the verge of collapsing. He hadn’t really had a decent night sleep since he left that safehouse and by now, he was regretting ever leaving it. He knew though, nothing was going to get done if he stayed there with Boris. The truth wouldn’t come out if he didn’t go looking for it.

By gods, he was missing that old small cot though.

His lower back was throbbing with a dull pain after having taken a slip and fall down the stairs after having a near miss beheading by that insufferable ink demon that was now free roaming these halls and looking to kill him.

Oh yes, he was having a grand time of his life.

Henry had been too deep in his brooding to realize that AQ had popped up again only to have his attention drawn to her when he felt a small hand grip his own, jerking him back to reality.

Finding her and having her around was probably one of the few things that kept him sane despite not quite knowing what she was. Only she wasn’t quite human.

Looking down at her, Henry arches an eyebrow as she began firing off questions. Very morbid questions and he wasn’t sure where that had come from.

“Err.. jus’ what have ya been thinkin’ about kid?”

He asks, head tilting. He gave her hand a soft squeeze before sighing.

“Of course I be sad. I be upset if you died down here and I couldn’t do nothing to prevent it.”

He explains, glancing around as they turn the hallway, making sure the coast was clear.

“I suspect if I saw someone kill you, I probably just see red and try and kill them. I care very much about you, AQ.”

It could be the fact Henry was a father, but there was attachment develope between him and AQ to the point he saw the other as a daughter.

      She side-eyes him with his first question, not entirely sure if he’d truly like to hear an answer for it. What was she thinking about? Only the regular things, for a creature of her kind. The thoughts may have lead to somewhere undesirable (which, the reason why still has her confused, but she doesn’t want to start that thought train again), but it was only a regular thing for her to imagine what sorts of events would lead to emotional and mental suffering, and what the end result would be.

      Her eyes drop to look at his hand when he squeezes hers--something she’s observed people do before. From what she’d regularly seen, it was meant as a comforting gesture, for either the person giving or receiving the gentle squeeze.

      For a moment (for the first time), she wonders if it was wrong of her to have expected a response of that nature. It still causes a tightening feeling in her chest, regardless, and she gazes down the ink splattered halls as his words fully sink in.

“...It just had me wondering, is all. I guess I should probably offer you the comfort of knowing that I probably can’t die, no matter what someone did to me. Age and sickness won’t take me, either.. I guess if I experience anything, it would be pain--physical, emotional, mental, and all that. Even then, the amount I’m capable of feeling and the damage it would do to me is something I’m not completely aware of, yet..” Not too many people had genuinely tried to harm her, just yet. It was probably only a matter of time, though. One can only live under the guise of possibly being some demonic entity and get away with it for so long, after all.

“...You can die, though. I’m not used to disliking the idea of suffering..but thinking about how someone could hurt you, or something could kill you, or that if you hurt yourself falling down again, you might...” she pauses, her grip on his hand tightening. “...I don’t like it. I don’t want anything bad to ever happen to you. Even if I was starving, and hurting you meant I could feed..even if I was given access, I don’t think I could do it.”

“If I saw someone hurting you..if I saw someone kill you.. I don’t know exactly what I’d do..I don’t think I could really do much of anything. Without access, I’m basically powerless against an attacker. It’s not my creation, therefore I cannot destroy it. I think I’d probably be angry, though..and sad..and I’d want to hurt them..I just probably wouldn’t be able to. I care a lot about you, too, Papa..more than I’ve ever cared about anyone or anything, before..”
