“I’m not. I just wanted to see if you thought I was the easier sell.”

“I have two daughters and was raised by a single mother. I wouldn’t underestimate you or any other woman, especially not from the alliance your mate has built.“

“How much of a small investment?”

“Enough to possibly put a dent in your pockets and make the proposal seem appealing.“

“I see.”

“What is it exactly that you see? Work me through your process.“

“Is there a reason you’ve come to me, rather than my mate?”

“Yes. I wasn’t able to get a hold of him for the times I have available. You’re the only other person I feel comfortable with repeating our expectation to Nick without bias. But if you feel uncomfortable...“

“I know.” She wiggled her brows, jokingly at him. “Try it on so I can make sure the band fits you. Sarah was worried about the size.”

“Well then, thank you for your business.” Jo smiled, seeing the similarities between her and Nick and Harris’s. “She spent almost 2 hours picking everything out for you.”

“Oh, she should have asked.“ Zack mused as he tried it on for fits. “It’s the thought that counts. Yada, yada.”

“I’m looking to buy up more of the land near the water’s edge. Too many hunters are coming to town, and I want to insulate ourselves. But I need people to reside there. How do you think Zelda would respond to moving with some others into one of mansions? Possibly with Lizzie?”

“Zelda and Lizzie in a mansion alone? How many bedrooms and baths are there? If there’s enough I would suggest opening the offer to the younger females.“

Jo shook her head and placed the box on the table. “She bought you a watch. I just got it in.” 

With a smile, Zackaryah took the box and opened it, letting out a whistle when he saw the watch inside. “Impressive.”

“I’m your employee, maybe I need something.”

“You’re also my daughter, I don’t see any reason to throw a mini party every time you walk-in.“

“I sell watches, not food. Did you really mix me up with the Golden Ridge girl?”

“She’s not even black.”

“Who Lena? I know she’s Hispanic, Jo.“

“I came to talk to you about Zelda.”

“What about my daughter?“ He ask, sitting a little straighter.

“It’s a special delivery actually, Zack.”

“From your wife.”

“Lunch?“

“I know dad, I work here.”

“Yeah. But not in my office.“

“Is it?”
