“One more question… Are you here with Christopher gang?“

“The angels?“

“Not a lot of other Africans around here?”

“Swanepoel? Is that South African? Like the Victoria Secret model?“

“Nice to meet you, Hank. I’m Dan.“

“Something like that.”

Max smiled but waited for a waiter to come around and picked one off of the tray. “Thank you.”

“Alright then, I can pick up a hint.”

“How kind… Do you plan on joining me also? Ms…“

“Swanepoel.”

“I promised to be on my best behavior. Eleven more doesn’t hurt.“

“And who did you promise that to?”

“I just walked in, sweetie.“

“Does that mean you don’t need a drink?” She joked, not picking the drink back up.

“If my wife catches me with anything besides water she’ll have my lively hood until Spring.“

“Bottoms up then, eh? No one’s watching right now.”

“What? Are you asking me out?”

“Indeed. One minute my powers were there, then next they were not. I tell you, my maid got quite the shock,”

“This has been happening for sometime now, meaning you must be new in town,”

“What kind of warlock has a maid?”

“It’s the dark eyed pretty boy look that isn’t working in your favor.“

“Your lost.“

“First time for everything, I suppose.”

“Now, well I mean…” she couldn’t deny that he was probably right.

“About books, and history, and lore and things not, not current events….”

He raised his brows at her with a smirk. “Right.”

“Yes….oh goodness,”

“I really feel like you’d be best going though the official channels. I mean I don’t go out on missions or anything - I’m just the librarian,” 

“See I think the official channels will stonewall me. You however, you seem honest.”
