The main goal here is to help lessen the discourse of the Sonic fandom by providing a space for fans to share their opinions of the franchise and fandom completely anonymously. Opinions on Sonic's renders, your favorite oc design trope, your least favorite characters in the series, your favorite ship, Sonic headcanons- almost all opinions are welcome!

The one rule we have is that we are not going to entertain hateful content. Sonic represents freedom and the ability to be your true self- he hates fascism, oppression, and hateful people. Homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, etc confessions will not be acknowledged.

Wouldn't this have the opposite effect and increase fandom discourse because people don't have to attach whatever they say to semi-anonymous blogs and can instead say anything they want behind full cover of anonymity and scrub controversial opinions of any ownership?

Not that it matters how much fandom drama is stirred up, it's all fictional stuff, it doesn't matter one way or another. It's always amusing to watch the shit get stirred.

But blogs like this have always definitely served as massive amplifiers for discourse in every fandom I've ever been in that has them, so the mission statement has me confused.

I can definitely see the worry, but I will be using my discernment when judging whether or not something is genuinely toxic to post!

Discours is gonna happen either way, but here I'm hoping at least they can get it out where it's optional to engage (as it always is but for some reason people tend to engage with it more on Twitter despite it being optional). Someone else also mentioned tagging things a different way in order for people to be able to filter out what they see, ie if negative opinions about Starline for example are triggering or otherwise upsetting, they can blacklist it without something accidentally seeping through since it will be tagged specifically.

That's the goal anyway! It is only one person running this blog so I do not need to communicate issued with anyone but me. If something is brought up that happens to make things sticky, ie cause more issues, I also have no problem changing up the rules or if it gets out of hand, just straight up deleting it!

From my experience in the fandom, people can get a lot of hate just for saying "this sonic model is ugly imo" and the goal is to allow someone to get that out of their system without the direct backlash. I won't be allowing actual toxic opinions through!

This is also my first time running something like this, and I am only human and can make mistakes. But I thought it would be a good thing to try out! So we will see how this goes. :)

It would avoid clogging the character tag with repetitive anonymous negativity for people who want to browse the tag, and it would make it easier to people who hate that character to find like-minded opinions grouped together. Win-win.
