Summary: The realization hit Phil with no warning, a little before midnight, as he passed through the corridor and got a glimpse of Dan’s open suitcase next to the closet. It was funny, in a way — he’d been telling Dan to start packing for the past week, as he was prone to do, while Dan kept saying he was going to get to it, like he always did, a familiar enough argument whenever they had to leave anywhere, except this time, Phil wasn’t packing anything at all. Because Phil was staying home. Because Phil was going to stay at home, alone, for two months and a half.
