At their first date Camilla says that Yor used to make money going to men’s hotel rooms and “giving massage” which is code for sex work. It could just mean happy endings but it’s pretty fair for someone to assume that she was an escort or prostitute.

Loid defends her immediately for doing what she needed to survive and he also has no context and I don’t think he would ask Yor to explain. He would however put together the timeline and realize that Yor was completely alone raising her brother as a teenager in a place with little to know social services or support and probably had to resort to sex work to survive.

The next thing he learns about her is that she is an expert at self defense.
