decided to post cause why tf not

we have D.I.Dand autism, and recently our birth father said some horrible things about wanting a cure for autism and now we just... can't see him the same. do you have any advice on what to do now? he was our comfort person but now he's not and he doesnt know about our D.I.D because he doesnt believe in it existing so we cant tell him and we dont know what to do in this situation

Okay. Let’s break this down carefully. Someone you trusted said something bad about your disability. That leads you to not trust him. This is a very reasonable response to that event. You haven’t told him about your D.I.D yet because he doesn’t believe in it. This is causing you a lot of stress right now because you stopped being able to confide in the person you thought you could trust. Now, depending on what kind of person your father is, you’ve got a few options.

1.) You sit down and have a talk with him. You explain to him that what he said hurt you, you also explain about your disabilities. And finally you tell him how he could change in the future.

2.) Alternatively you could confide in friends, real life or otherwise. You let them take some of the stress off your shoulders.

3.) Finally, you could contact a mental health hotline, or just a help hotline and have a professional talk you through it. 

if you want, i can make some sort of intro card for all of the members in the system...

though it unfortunately has the downside of not being able to search for alters…
