Do you know that Battambang is also renowned for having the best ORANGE? I went to a remote area where’s an orange farm I normally visit and pick the orange. Mr Yon said that land was not supposed to be a farm area at first, just a free space then he decided to plant about 1000 orange tree and let it grow naturally by rain and some water supply by the dam nearby! Angkor Wat in 2021 Even after a year of the virus outbreak, the world situation is still unstable. Pandemic has made a big changed to our tourism industry, so does the world. Boat Spiritual Ritual and Ceremony at Wat Ek Reangsey! [swap to the 10th for video] Even though the Boat Racing Ceremony is canceled this year due to the virus and flood, yet the local ceremony for the boat spirit is still Happened. Every year, The Chief Monk and local people who love boat and respect the ritual ceremony celebrate a small ritual to pay respects to the boat spirit to protect and look after to both the boat and the racer during the ceremony. At Wat Ek Reangsey, they usually do it by preparing some foods, playing and singing ritual music for the spirit and taking the bot to the river to do another activity as you can see in the video, the chief monk and two other boys throw three raw chicken that were killed and taken out the intestines into the river and shout to bow down and salut to both the boat spirit and the river spirit. I love to see this kind of ritual celebration because it keep our tradition and ritual alive. It’s in a modern era, but I hope people keep celebrating it from generation to generation so we will get to know more about our true identity. Sangker River current situation these days from the middle of the town. We’re suffering flood during this pandemic that made our situation even worse. Many places in Cambodia are now covering by water and the latest update said over twenty people have been killed due to the drowning during these bad days. Battambang and Pursat were the first two provinces that were effected and were from the strong water flow badly that even broke the dams. However the situation in Battambang town is now better as you can see, from the water filled fully and even flow outside to many roads. Battambang city is now fine from the flood, but sadly the roads are damaged and hopefully everything would be fixed asap. #SavePsaNat Yesterday evening( 30th August 2020) , our landmark market, Psa Nat, was on fire from around 5:20pm till about 9:30 that was so devastated and I feel like my heart was scratched cruelly. I drove to the area after I got the news from Facebook Live, sadly I was not allowed to get closer that our car needed to drive out of the area (so I could not have my own photos.) According to an official statement from Sir BUTH Kimsean, it’s said to be used firetruck of 30, and 33 total stores were all burned down (16 grocery stores, 14 clothes stores, and 3 Kitchen Equipment stores) and 40 other store are effected. Thank to Mr. @sunpora for the photos from the place during the time and his map/plan of the area. Good News is this Art Deco market is saved and not really damaged for its own structure which is mean only the new-build stores are burned off. Anyway, seeing our landmark and my favorite building catch fired, it’s like my heart was shattered i to pieces. Thank you all for checking up and being concern over our condition . Local Breakfast from Beung Chhouk Market! Yesterday I went to Beung Chhouk market, a big and busy local market, with my mum for a little shopping. I didn’t have breakfast so I decided to order one from a food vendor there and have it as Rice and pork (yeah scramble egg too). I have never been bored eating this as breakfast at all even I have had it since long long time ago already. You can see the rice, pork, egg, cucumber from the salad, and the fish sauce. May 20 1975 - May 20 2020, the National Remembrance Day of Cambodia about Khmer Rouge . Some people were introduced to Cambodia through Khmer Rouge aka Pol Pot, whether from the books, magazine, movies, or through their friends, but do you know What May 20th is to Us? Every year we still celebrate the remembrance day as a memorial day in any station that was used as the killing field. There’re few major places where are known for the big station and for example, Wat Samrong Knong. The is the Memorial Place at the back side of the pagoda where you can see the skeleton on top, description at the back, and the carving of related story around . They also call it the well of shadow where it remind them of those nightmares time. I went there yesterday to pay respect to those who lost their life there and to see how it is taken care of.
