Soizic was born to a wealthy Cajun family in the southern United States, in the history-saturated Louisiana area. Her family was around, but never really present in her life, so she spent lots of time playing outside and digging things up in her childhood. Those who knew her described her as quiet, but intuitive. The more she dug, the more cool things she’d unearth and bring to pawn shops. Soizic once brought an entire sack of artifacts twice her size to an appraiser.

When she was seven years old, a head injury caused by falling off of a horse inflicted mild-to-severe temporary amnesia. As a result, Soizic is abysmal with names, faces, and even directions. She uses easy-to-remember nicknames and acronyms for people and places. Her memory is still a bit unreliable to this day. Soizic now has a phobia of horses and won’t go anywhere near them.

By fourteen years old, Soizic had landed a managerial position at a high-end pawn shop in her city. She’s able to tell you the market value of anything just by taking a close look at it, and has gotten even better at appraisal as she’s gotten older.

Soizic is quite physically strong. She grew up on a farm, often carrying large, heavy objects and doing manual work. She’s able to lift almost all of her classmates easily, and can hold some with only one arm! She also was the one to kick in the door to Nagito’s trap room in Chapter 5, and did so effortlessly.

In tenth grade, Soizic was scouted by Hope’s Peak Academy for a student position as their Ultimate Appraiser. Of course, she accepted, and moved to Japan to live on campus. She quickly became friends with Akane Owari, who “introvert adopted” her. Soizic trusts Akane more than anyone else in her life, and they consider each other best friends. Even during the Killing School Trip, their strong bond formed again despite the amnesia. Soizic’s other close friends include Mikan Tsumiki, Kiyotaka Ishimaru, Makoto Naegi, and Sonia Nevermind.

Despite her mild nature, Soizic’s temper is far from infinite. She once had a screaming match in the middle of class with Hiyoko after “havin’ much enough” of her constant torture towards Mikan. She’s extremely protective when it comes to her friends, and especially for her underclassmen in Class 78-B, acting as their self-appointed big sister. (Kinda like their Monomi..?)

During the Tragedy, Soizic was one of the last in Class 77-B to be convinced to turn to Junko’s side. Sensitive to violence and fearful for her classmates, it took lots of effort on Junko’s part to change her mind. But when she did, Soizic was a very formidable Remnant of Despair, walking the burning streets with a massive hammer built from scrap metal. She amputated her own left leg and took Junko’s, and now walks with a bionic leg. She’s still getting used to it, though, and tends to fall over frequently…

Soizic survived the Killing School Trip, but only by a miracle. When Mikan regained her memory when she had the Despair Disease, Soizic was one of her targets along with Ibuki and Hiyoko. Her country upbringing and exceptional hiding ability saved her- she clung to a rafter above the stage in the music venue for almost two hours and watched Mikan’s actions. That shortened the trial time significantly. Understandably, Soizic felt extremely betrayed- one of her dearest friends had turned into a murderous monster. She spent the first part of Chapter 4 sitting by the sea, mourning Mikan and reflecting on how lucky she’d been to not be spotted. Her bond with Monomi grew after the latter comforted her.

After the Killing School Trip ended, Soizic’s memory began to fail more than usual. Her spotty amnesia is now more severe, and she has trouble recalling most of the events of the Neo World Program. Despite this, she does her best to be a welcoming presence and a person that people can lean on. Her home was destroyed in the Tragedy, and now lives with Akane and Nekomaru.

She enjoys cooking, but has been banned from every kitchen that Teruteru has found her in for her culinary crimes.

During Chapter 4’s rollercoaster ride, she hung onto Sonia for dear life and refused to open her eyes.

At the party at the old building in Chapter 1, Soizic ate the entire charcuterie board in 20 minutes.

Lots of things fly over her head, especially flirting. She has never been in a romantic relationship.

Soizic’s side hobby is taking care of goldfish! (Haha.. goldfish.. memory parallel... hmmm...)
