I'm sorry that I thought you could be entrusted with an imperfect, unfinished version of me.

I'm sorry that I trusted you with the most personal and intimate parts of my life.

I'm sorry that I considered you my friends.

My confidants.

My allies.

Some of you, even my partners.

I'm sorry that I thought you were safe to be my most unguarded self around while I was still recovering from a lifetime of abuse and religious conversion therapy at the hands of my birth parents.

I'm sorry that I believed my vulnerability would be met with compassion rather than suspicion.

I'm sorry that I believed you could understand.

I'm sorry that I believed I deserved to take up space.

I'm sorry that I believed I mattered.

I'm sorry that I believed I could lean on you in my time of need and trust that you wouldn't let me fall.

I'm sorry that I thought I had finally found the home I never had.

The family I never had.

I'm sorry for all of it.

Every last bit of it.

But above all...

More than anything else...

There is one thing I want to apologize for most of all.

I always try to be sweet and kind to everyone on this blog. But right now all I feel is an immense anger. Anger that another human feels that they are not loved because you decided to hate them. Because you decided to wish for their death. Because you decided to remove the inherent value the individual has simply because they exist. You removed the humanity from a human and expect me to not be upset?

No one deserves to be broken like this. Not Sera, not me, not you. No one. And maybe if for one minute we tried to see the best in people, we wouldn't be making people feel like this. To destroy a person's trust in their ability to be loved is incredibly, incredibly cruel.

I am a raccoon biologist and one of the few people in the state allowed to take in captive bred raccoons that had been possessed illegally. The raccoon in the photos is Moonshine, but she is currently at the animal sanctuary where I work as I had been quarantining multiple new intakes from an abuse case. I still have two males (Rum Tum Tugger and Electra) left in my home enclosure as we are getting them neutered and then hopefully sending them to an AZA accredited zoo.

my worst relatives try to sneak meat or meat products into my food despite the fact that I'm a vegetarian

my ex's brother gave his mother an edible without her knowledge and when she got freaked out and paranoid they laughed, and people I've told that go "yeah that's shitty but it's just weed"

when I go to the doctor and ask them to describe what they are going to do before touching me they get frustrated

when I ask a friends of a friend who is a small influencer to keep me out of frame in videos they film for social media in public they look at me like I've pissed in their cereal

Which of course is a fun balancing act when you want to try and make a living being creative. Yes, I need support from a community, no I don't need the online mob coming after me because I "ruined" a character I created.
