somewhere, in deepest pit, something stirs for thee.
something ancient, something foul, far wiser than you or me.
the beast is long and ghastly, it's hide a sickly hue.
it's talons cragged and sinewed, it's tongue a deathly blue
from beneath the ocean waves, or perhaps the desert sands
voices sing in chorus, bowed heads and praising hands
the beast has seen the eldest stars, and chewed the bones of gods
it's stitched the skin of prophets, and outlasted impossible odds
the creature hungers, and it knows, it's will you must obey.
for defiance brings a wretched fate, stolen and spirited away
somewhere beyond the mirror, or lurking beneath your bed
something whispers in your ear, a second voice in your head
the beast wears stolen faces, each life a stolen name
so be wary, little one, or your own will soon be claimed
pay heed, o wanderer, and know yourself as marked
for the many miles you've traveled, girl, pale to the ones you'll walk
This is the sort of eldritch menace that absolutely turns me on.
