it's just business

i’ve written a lot of fics since april, but in this list i’m gonna highlights my favs! with links of course, so anyone reading this can go check them out. if anyone didn’t know, my ao3 is softbrio just like this tumblr! i’m also gonna add some reasons why i like each one too hehe

1. i’ve never heard silence quite this loud

this is apart of my brio one shot, established relationship, series! i absolutely love this from the lack of communication in the beginning (our normal chaotic beth and rio) to the introduction of them actually talking it out. i would love love love to see them talking their issues out in season 4 and i definitely hope that we get to see it.

2. loving you was red

believe it or not, this was my first time writing smut. i was so nervous to post it because i’m so new to it that i felt like people would think it was bad. let’s say i was surprised about the feedback i got on it. i loved the idea of beth dying her hair red and rio reacting, so when it popped into my head, i HAD to get right onto it.

3. blanket me

i don’t even know where to start with this one. first, the prompt was immaculate but so so so heartbreaking (and i wrote it, lol). but how i wrote rio coming in and comforting beth after dean was being abusive was so soft but so sad at the same time. oh, and did i also mention the inspo for the title? it was the song used in 1x09! i just loved that little detail, and it fit in with the storyline.

4. while i threw your shit in the fireplace

this one, although inspired by a dixie damelio song, was so compelling. first off, THE ANGST. i loved the idea i got of beth spiraling after shooting rio and going to smash all his stuff. and would it really be brio angst without a plot twist of him showing up at the end? oh, did i mention its sequel, don’t blame me. i could totally kick myself for not making my smut debut there, but i still wasn’t comfortable with it yet.

18. things you said when you were scared

He wasn’t mad at Mick when he willingly told him what he had done. He was pissed at Nick, and it was a damn shame he was already in prison. Maybe he could find someone to beat his ass in there like he wants to do himself.

And the thing was, Mick seemed like it fucked him up. How he told him that Nick wanted more, wanted to hit her in the lung or something, but refused. Just grazed her shoulder instead.

His mind still went to Elizabeth. How her kids were most likely home, how Dean could walk in the door to see her bleedin’ in the kitchen. How he probably already has.

So what if he had to lie to get in to see her in the hospital. Internally laughed at the fact that he could pass as an attorney. But it wasn’t like he was going to say partner, might draw too much attention.

“Ay,” he said, standing in the doorframe when she hadn’t notice that the door itself had opened. She turned her head, and he could see everything she was doing to keep herself from rolling her eyes.

“I see your knocking phase has ended,” Elizabeth had said, and it made him chuckle, walking in further, closing the door behind him.

“Figured you can’t get up to open it, so,” Rio told her, which made her snort. But then she watched as his face changed, as he got closer and could see the patch on her right shoulder.

“I’m okay,” she assured him, “he just grazed me.”

“Baby, I don’t care if it barely touched you,” he replied, “he shouldn’t of had to do it.”

“I know,”

“You had me scared,” he admitted, “he came in sayin’ that he had to shoot you and my heart sank.” Elizabeth looked up at him, and let out a slight chuckle.

“Come here,” she said, tilting her head towards the space on the other side of her. He followed, letting her rest her head on his shoulder. It felt similar to when they were in her bed, right before she had remembered that the kids were coming back, jumping up and kicking him out. “You were the last thing I thought of before he did it.”

“That right?” Rio asked, and she made a ‘mhm’ sound in response. He found her hand, taking it into his. “Shit, I was so fuckin’ scared.”

“I’m okay,” Elizabeth told him again, he didn’t have to know that she was still on painkillers, that’s why she thought she was okay for now.

“Thought the worst had happened,” he continued, “that he killed you and I’d never see you again.”

“I’m here,” she replied, “and you know what?” Rio laughed, wondering what the hell was about to come out of her mouth.

“What?”

“We have matching scars now,” she said, looking up at him. And he smiled back, thinking how the hell she could be so cute right now.

“Guess we do,” he told her.

“I’m getting divorced,” Elizabeth spit out after a bit of silence.

“Why you tellin’ me this?” Rio asked. He was trying his best to not sound excited, if we’re being honest.

“Because in a couple months,” she said, “I can be yours.”

“Darlin’, you’ve been mine,” he replied, “that dumbass never stopped me.” They both laughed, and maybe he could hold on for a couple more months.
