I have decided to share my headcanons and discoveries with you, so now you will be forced to read and witness it... If you want ofc
To begin with, the Conductor's species is most likely a cross between a dinosaur (specifically a velociraptor) and an owl.
The similarities and details will be discussed later, for now we will start with analyzing a little bit of base from the game itself.
Judging by the planet itself, the main habitat is a desert, so subsequent guesses and theories will follow from this fact.
HEAD:
Most likely, the "maw" is something between a dinosaur's snout and a beak, because, after all, we consider it from the point of view that the species has evolved into a more intelligent one and has undergone some changes in "modernity". The size and proportions, by the way, may also not be accidental, because in the desert, one of the cooling mechanisms for birds is respiration β evaporative cooling.
Quite a few details, both in the design and on the train (the same menu, which features the same mice) indicate the fact that the species is inherently predatory. However, it is possible that in the course of evolution he could have become an omnivore. But, aside from the initial fact, it follows that the eyes are likely forward-facing and covered by feathered bangs (in theory, a protective mechanism against sandstorms).
Perhaps because of this, they have a debuff in the form of not very good (or even poor) eyesight and the sensitivity of the eyes themselves to any kind of irritation. So, hats of their kind rather serve as additional protection, rather than just a beautiful accessory (something like we humans do, layers of clothing for better thermoregulation and other things).
The "ears" are most likely, like those of owls, a series of elongated head feathers. They help owls to blend in with their surroundings, however, in this case, in the Conductor's species, they serve more of a social role as an indicator of "mood".
LIMBS:
Here we are already taking dinosaurs as a basis. For some reason, to me, it seems that the models and the official arts have a difference between the hands of owls and the Conductor. So, in my mind, they seem more like paws with claws. Most likely, they are covered with feathers, like those of owls.
I think the hind legs have evolved a lot due to walking upright and have taken on a more "human" appearance. Well, most likely, again, completely covered with feathers.
ABOUT THE FEATHERING, BY THE WAY.
Due to the fact that the habitat is a desert, it is quite safe to make assumptions about dense feathering and the predominance of light color (about the latter, the Conductor is literally YELLOW. What's yellow in the desert? Right! Sand. So basically EVERYTHING). By the way, because of the thick feathering, you can understand why he was on the Arctic Cruise in the first place. This adaptation of the body makes it easier not only to tolerate the heat, BUT also the wildly cold nights in the deserts.
Here's a funny assumption about the Scottish accent β perhaps this is a "consequence" of the peculiarities of how the species sounded before its evolution into a more intelligent being. I would assume that these were barn owl-like sounds mixed with growls.
