context: tapeworms as we all probably know are parasites. that's a scary word but lsiten. tapeworm life cycles involve two different hosts. the first host it chills in, the secondary host, is where a tapeworm does its growing. since the tapeworm will be ejecting itself soon anyway, and since it takes a lot of energy to grow, tapeworms will seriously fuck up their secondary hosts (they dont eat organs though) to get as much bang for their buck as they can. however once a tapeworm leaves its secondary host and enters its primary host, it doesnt need to grow anymore. it can jsut chill. and chill it will. a tapeworm in a primary host wants to be there for as long as its natural life spans, so it tries to be as polite as possible so to speak. the energetic cost of having just one tapeworm as a primary host is very small and you probably wont even have any symptoms. there is even some evidence that having a limited number of parasites can boost your immune system (emphasis on limited number, but still a number) and also there's the theory that at least some positive-positive symbionts started out originally as one parasitizing the other. which is reflective of how jotaro and kakyoin first met. kakyoin i think would be fascinated by this. as a marine biology loser jotaro knows about tapeworms as well (tapeworms originated in and are most common in sharks). so kakyoin asking jotaro what he would do if he were a tapeworm chilling in jotaro nonlethally and jotaro responding "i'd still eat your weird food for you" as opposed to ripping him out, is as close to affection as he can get to giving at 17. kakyoin knows this and is enamored
